This antique Susse Freres daguerreotype camera dates back to 1839
and was sold at auction in 2007 for $775,000!
It is believed to be the oldest commercial camera in the world!

You only need to do the lens trick for manual extension tubes, if you buy auto ones you get full control and focus feedback. I'm too stingy to pay the extra.
I hear you
manual extension tubes $12
auto ones  $289

I've just found that if I want a lower aperture (higher number) or just to set the aperture
I need to set it at what I want and hold down the depth of field preview button while I take the lens off then fit the macro tubes.
Hand little bit of info to know
This is a Thread in a cube corner

Tips on taking photos of fireworks? I always suck at it.
Im no expert, well not yet maybe after this online course Im doing with 'The Photography Institute'
but I took most of those images on Sports mode so that the camera would take care of the most of the settings and I can enjoy the show.
Use a tripod with the focus on manul but if your playing with the exposure time don't try to take a to longer exposure as it just looks a mess, most of mine are around 1sec
and the key to a good fireworks shot is timing, watch it shot up into the air and start your image just before or as it goes BOOM
I also use a remote so that Im not shaking the camera.

World's most viewed photograph by Charles O'Rear

If you owned a Windows XP computer, then you viewed the image. Called the Bliss, it is the default wallpaper for the Luna theme of Microsoft's XP operating system, which was a big hit for the company. This success of the OS brought the photograph to the living rooms of as many as a billion people.

However, Charles O'Rear, the photographer who clicked the iconic picture, feels that the one-billion-figure is an educated guess rather than a fully-accounted-for statistic. Nevertheless, he does agree that the picture is easily one of the most recognisable across the world.

He says, "All the folks I talk with agree it is the most 'recognisable' photo ever. If it were shown to a villager in rural China, for example, good chance they would recognise it. If it were shown to astronauts on the ISS, good bet they would know it, too. I have seen it appear in photos of the White House situation room, the Kremlin, etc."

O'Rear took the picture five years before Windows XP was rolled out, when he was passing through Napa Valley in California. After he captured the image, he refrained from altering or digitally improving it in any way. Though it is not known how much Microsoft paid for the photograph, O'Rear says that the amount was "extraordinary."

Postal, your camera must have a huge count on its shutter.

I've taken around the 36k make on this Canon 450D
and I bought it off my Father, god only know how many he took before I got it
(is there somewhere the camera will tell me the shutter count?)

I found that at .03 of a second things moved a bit fast so I set it to about .07 of a second
but you need to play around and see what looks good and how long you want the clip to be.
Time Lapse from up Cape Hill in Pukekohe
I started just after 6pm and took over 2000 photos in about 4.5 hours, 1 pic every 5 to 8 seconds,
when it was dark the exposure time got up to 6sec.
