On seven sharp, Hosking said that Global mode was a way to "allow people to access content without paying". Total bullshit, we're still paying, just paying the content creators directly, instead of allowing Sky and the other networks to cash in on content they didn't even make.
I didn't even understand, most of what you could get though Global Mode (at least through US Netflix) wasn't even available in NZ on other networks.

It was NZ companies who hold distributing rights who probably played the card "if they watch this from an overseas source, then they're not going to want to pay for it when we eventually distribute it here".
And some fuck hole judge caved who doesn't understand digital distribution. Those distributors are also trying to protect future profits by putting a stop to it. I doubt they were losing out on anything right now.

Half the shit that comes out of Hosking or any one on that 7 sharp show is a load of drivvel. I've yet to see anything technologically related that is reported on succinctly and accurately. Let alone anything without some sort of "this is geeky" style slant... TVNZ still doesn't get the technology age we live in IMO.

Except you can endlessly argue with tard faces on here, and they don't get paid for their overrated opinion, nor is it an influential broadcast to hundreds of thousands of brainwashed mugs giving the impression that their opinion has more gravitas than say, an expert on any given topic. I jest, my TV isn't even connected to the aerial at the moment. I cut the aerial cable to make it shorter, then realised I'll need to get a coax stripper and crimper to make a new connection, but they cost $40 at Bunnings. So I'm just going to leave it as is.
Only thing we watched on TV was sesame street in the morning. But sesame street is on Netflix as well.

I'll be watchy the rugby using ITV and unotelly.
New Zealand Rugby, Browning points out, is largely funded by the money it can extract from the broadcast of All Blacks matches. Illegal streaming is a clear and present danger to that income stream.
Then maybe they should provide some legal way of streaming it which we could pay for.
One reporter gave up on one, after being constantly referred to a pop-up window requesting his details. Another went as far as handing over credit card details but was still unable to access the feed.
Despite multiple assurances he would not be billed, he found his card had been charged $1.64 by the time he cancelled it, less than an hour later.
Which shows the level of intelligence of these reporters.

It's ridiculously ridiculous.
I'd happily pay $15 for the month, even if it was just the rugby games. But a day? It's absurd
I'm a New Zealander, but I'm not a fan of rugby. Why? Because of Sky, sky sucks up all the rugby in NZ (as well as many other sports i.e v8 supercars), and without an alternative, the sports fan inside me withers and dies.
