Title: World Of Tanks
Post by: oefox on October 23, 2012, 10:07:20 am
Hello, anyone here playing WoT around tiers 5-6 and want to platoon up for some coordinated decent gameplay?

Here's my wot forum sig, looking for someone to play with around the same skill level (or better!)

Have hetz, kv-1, t-150, vk3601H, grille, t49, su-100, (a-20 trying to get t-34 and lee trying to get m4)

My garage is: Tetrarch, T50, SU-100M1, T54, KV-1, IS-7, IS-4, Obj.261, ELC AMX, AMX 13 F3 AM, AMX AC Mle 1948, AMX 50 100, Bat Chatillion 25T, PzKpfw 38H735, Grille, 3601H, 4502P, Lowe, E-50M, E-75, E-100, JP-E100, M22 Locust, SuperPershing, T49, T28 Proto, T95 & Type 59

It's a fun game, can just consume a lot of hours when you start playing in the clan wars.

In game name is: spigalau

I don't intend to play clan wars and i'm not paying for premium. I did buy the smallest gold amount and unlocked three tank slots though. I just like to mess up pubs and would like to do this with someone else that is good.

I've won quite a few games recently in my T49 against all odds; in one memorable round last night I was the sole tank on the east side in cliffs screaming sos, killed an elc then facing an IS and a panther I high tailed it to the west valley and proceeded to get behind a KV-2 and single handedly kill it before proceeding to the cap and killing a 105am. Thinking the panther would return and nail me I managed to track the t25 that came to stop me and cap out just just in time - survived with 6hp remaining, best game ever.

Sometimes you just have an epic game...

Came down to me (last man standing) vs 4 of them - ended up with 8 kills & a few awards.

Does help when you're the top tier against a lot of lower tier tanks ;-)

I've gotten that radley medal in my T49 in what I remember was my finest hour, got the boelters and the kolobanov as well (last tank against 5+ and win).

Think my best base xp so far is 1250 in my vk but my almost best fun game was probably in my hetzer being the last alive then proceeding to get 4 1 shot kills in a row (reaper) and just missing out on the 5th which would've won the game but sadly didn't survive. You know you've done well when ppl say you deserve the awards you're going to get.

Funniest thing I have seen lately with the physics was our team got raped and our lone SU-26 was all that remained, he drove off a cliff but somehow managed to fire a shot whilst plummeting that killed an amx40.

It's amazing just how much people will go out of there way to nail my little paper thin t49, i've had a stug and kv1s suicide drive off a cliff onto me (when they were winning already), a panther chase me around el haluf for the entire game, and arties trying to hit me instead of the T29 I was rabbiting for.

E: Oh, but extremely jealous of getting 6k xp in a round, I got 5k once when they had the x5 bonus, if I had have had premium one could only imagine the dizzy heights. Right now I am only playing the A-20 and M3 Lee for the bonus as these are terrible tanks.

Nice round Spig - and nice Garage!  Makes me feel inadequate with just my M22, Chafee, T20, T29, Pershing, M7 Priest, VK3601, Panther II, E50, E75, Tiger II, Lowe, AMX 13 75, T43, IS3

Oefox (and other GetSomeers) always keen to platoon, so add me: BeNZene

In the long run premium is well worth it (and essential if you want to play T8 and above regularly), and it funds the frequent content drops we get.   But I do love how much you can get F2P...

I sold my account on the US server yesterday.

Currently trying to get my new account into positives, it was on 47% wins when I got it, up to 49 now after about 600 games

Is there a reason you didn't move to SEA?

I get a ping of around 140ms on the SEA server. A nice change from the 250 I used to get.
edit: and clan wars are at an almost suitable time.

Garage: IS-3, IS-8, IS-7, Churchill, Type 59, Type 62, T34, SU-14, SU-26, loltraktor. Plus a bunch of others.

Well, actually, I went to sign up to the SEA server but the website detected that I would be better off on the US server so I quit right there and then as I didn't feel like I wanted to play with crack shot magical tear shedding South Korean professionals named wan this and xia that.

In saying that, i've yet to play pubs with english speaking people that actually work together!

Probably too late now to do the account transfer.

Is there a reason you didn't move to SEA?

a) Player base on SEA Server = small
b) Clan Wars (timing of)
c) Player base on NA Server

WG have previously said they were looking at a server reunification - so who knows, we may all end up playing against each other at some stage.

I get on average around 210ms to the NA server. Mate has been playing around with his connections (Xtra vs Vodafone) on SEA Server and is seeing some really weird results (SEA pinging higher than NA) depending on the connection he uses. One ISP's routing is definitely different than the other.

Also - how many peso's did you sell your NA account for ?

Yeah, I just looked at the player base, SEA peaks at 7k compared to the >8k minimum I see on NA at 10-11pm

Given that the EU server has a massive player base they should shift the NA server from Washington DC to LA, that'd give NZ/AUS a better ping.

Would be interesting to see if the SEA server is full of nubs ripe for the raping, could be worth a second account for a trial run.
Title: World Of Tanks
Post by: Slingshot on October 24, 2012, 11:18:14 am
Yeah, they are fixing that soon. Stupid of them to have that message, especially when they are trying to get NZ/Aus players on SEA.

The server is predominantly English speaking, though you do get some box language □□□□□□ □□□ □□□□ 555+

SEA server players as a whole are a lot fresher to the game than on NA, so a lot of noobish things go on, especially in lower (<6) tiers, though I would expect this to change over time.
The NA server was exactly the same.

I think they will bring in paid transfers in the future.

Yep I had some routing issues for a couple of days with TCL where my ping was higher than I got on NA, but all sorted now.

Clan war timings are ok for me, they start around 10pm for the eastern side of the map. The NA timezones made it impossible for me.
The big problem is that the eastern provinces are so poor. Shit map tbh, but at least I can participate in CW when it suits rather than being restricted to the weekend.

USD500

If I hadn't spent money for gold to buy garage slots i'd just start a new account as transferring is a bit of an ask.

I would rather be playing on a low ping server as 300ms is actually quite a massive handicap, will have a trial run tonight and see what the ping is like.

Question would be where to start again!

You guys think there is anything we could do to improve performance for WoT? Happy as TelstraClear customers with your latency?

Saw someone playing it properly for the first time last week, got me interested.

If you do make an account, I'll be happy to platoon with you. I have a tank of each tier I think.

And if WoT wins MMO of the Year garage spaces will be 50% off ;)

140 is good, I'm not sure what you could do to make it better, it seems to be the best route to the sg based servers.

So yes, happy.

Simcore, I am TCL cable in Wellington, getting ~300ms ping to the NA server that is in Washington DC.

If you can improve that I would be a much happier customer.

Whichever tank I hate the most i'll sell for the IS (eventually).

KV-1S with the 122 is a great tank. Just make sure you get a rammer and vents.

I think rammer and vent is a default on all heavy tanks.

Just felt I need to throw this into a forum post somewhere today, feels like a rickroll

Hey guys, I've received a couple of comments about latency to the WoT SEA server increasing over the last couple of months.

I've gone to look at the available transit paths, and it appears that all deliver the same latency currently; because of this, if you're unhappy with SEA latency I'd recommend making WarGaming knowledgable in their forums. http://forum.worldoftanks-sea.com/index.php?/topic/3805-australiannz-routing-issues-stats-required/page__st__160

If you are doing so, happy to hear about it myself as well.

That's true, although I would accept the extra 30ms to NA east if it meant having 2 less morons on my team.

Also, bought a Hellcat for giggles, what a great little TD.
