So what are we predicting, is this a my penis is bigger than yours type scenario on a grand stage, or do you think Kim Jong Un has the cahounas to actually follow through with a threat.
This is genuinely a great chance for Matt and Trey to make a sequal.

The reality of NK launcing a first strike against a super power would result in NK being wiped off the face of the earth - I also don't think that China would openly support a first strike by NK. China has somewhat evolved as a country and is now a major player in the world stage.

NK would get a good first punch in, but they'd be ruined beyond repair when whoever caught the first punch retaliated (providing they don't nuke SK).

I'd be very surprised if they followed through with any of their threats. I feel sorry for the poor buggers stuck in that country.
It's always been just words from NK and it will continue that way IMO. If im wrong then bye bye NK.

They can't.
Their missile program isn't advanced enough to accurately travel that far. Plus their nuclear devices are too big to fit into/onto any missile. The underground tests they did were tests, and they are still very far away from being able to launch a strike like that.
That being said, their primary target would be SK, probably Seoul given how close to the boarder it is, oh and that whole it being capital thing. It is thought NK has artillery which would be able to hit Seoul, and would be the most likely first strike.

Erm. Have you ever looked at a map?
Its over 3000km's from Guam to NK. No way artillery could hit it. Also no way NK's "nukes" could hit it, because as I said, they are too big to fit on a missile.

3000 miles is close enough for a mid range missile, with a reasonable payload

I do agree the most logical would be SK or Japan.. but again doubts about that as the musadan missile has not been tested or proven to be accurate, the last attempt at anything airborne ended up a disaster.

Real point is anything with a nuke brings on M.A.D. So they wont. Worst case the ceasefire ends, and the Korean war might finally come to an end.

No war, it would be suicide for the NK regime, so even if Kim Jong Un wanted to the generals wouldn't do it. It's all posturing to (a) make him look tough internally and (b) maybe extract some concessions when he returns to the negotiating table.

I think the technical term is 'sabre rattling', and maybe a little dirty war action on the sidelines. One scary possibility is a dirty bomb on a mid range missile hitting either SK, Japan or possibly Guam...whats the half life on plutonium particles again ?

if the war breaks out, i suspect the US would not use nukes - since its conventional weapons would do more than enough damage to the NK command structure, whilst leaving the environment "clean". i also suspect that NK will only threaten to use nukes at this stage - since they dont have much nuclear material available to them at this stage. if they used a nuke, they would need to make sure that it was targeted in such a way as to force the US and SK to negotiation table on the assumption that the US and Sk wouldnt want to lose any more solders or civilians and that the US would not want to get dragged into a new war.
however this is based on a logic that is not NK'n - if anythign happens it will be as bell said - NK lobbing a few shells into some part of SK or a sea skimish between NK and SK in the sea of japan - everyone else filing motions at UN and SK lobbing a few shells or doing a targeted airstrike against a border post or sinking a NK patrol boat in the Sea of Japan
the US wont get involved unless asked to by the SK
