I hoped you'd figure this out on your own, I had high hopes for you as a test subject but it has gone on too long and the experiment has not yielded the results we were hoping for. I feel we were too ambitious, put too much hope in you.
Everything here, everything you are- or at least everything you believe yourself to be is a simulation, a test created by those that you do not know, or at least don't remember.
You're in a confined neuro-chamber in an undisclosed facility. Me, I'm one of the team leaders overseeing this exploratory exercise.
We did give you some grounding so your mental state wouldn't completely reject the identity you've assumed, to explain: yes, you are a monkey but you've never been to space. As a test subject, you showed promising signs when interacting with simple, cognitive based association games, you were able to correctly identify geometric patterns and shapes in order to aid you in understanding your environment and then making use of that understanding in ways we hadn't seen.
We believed that this, that you, would thrive in a ground-breaking new exercise that would explain the final, tiny gap that human DNA has when mirroring it with that of our simian ancestors but much to our dismay it has just shown to be a colossal misdirection of government funding. You, and this facility have been scheduled for destruction in the coming days.
This has 0 bearing on you so do not panic. Time as you perceive it while existing in this simulation is delivered fractured from time as we (the real world) view it. You will be allowed to live out your life in this synthetic environment. We do not know how, or when you will die, we left this up to the simulation to decide in order to manufacture the most honest results possible, this was a huge risk as it has, or 'had' the potential to instantly put a stop to what we were trying to achieve.
My colleagues do not know that I have divulged this information to you, and if they did I will be removed from any future exercises. I'm telling you this because, well, you deserve to know that your life has been a lie, but if it makes you feel better, you don't have to believe me, it'll be the natural defence mechanism your brain will offer. The only thing I have left to say is enjoy what you have come to know as 'real' because it is as real as anything that my world could have offered you.
Which begs the question - am I apart of the simulation?
