« on: March 13, 2015, 09:35:48 pm »
You can download an early version of this for a play.
I used to love Unreal tournament, so fast and furious. This is cool, played on a US server and it worked well.

I used to have a program that would ping a website and then show a nifty graphic of all the computers the signal went through to get to the site. It showed where there were bottlenecks etc. For the life of me I can't find it, can't even think what to Google.  ???

Is there still such a thing?

Battlefield / Sweet FX in BF4
« on: January 28, 2014, 01:11:56 pm »
Hi guys, anyone else using Sweet FX in the game, it makes it look real nice, specially in the cities. Works no worries at all. I just basically increase the vibrance a bit to give the colours a boost.

Technology & Hardware / Ordered upgrade kit, need install advice
« on: January 21, 2014, 11:00:27 am »
Hi team I bought myself a R280x a wee while back now I've just ordered an upgrade bundle

this from Playtech:
AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Eight-Core Desktop Processor
Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P Motherboard
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 Desktop Memory

What steps will ensure the motherboard will install properly, I'd really like to not have to reinstall windows if possible...

Technology & Hardware / Cpu upgrade for 775 socket
« on: October 11, 2013, 01:04:09 pm »
What would be the best thing to get more speed than my q6600 (rated at 2.4GHz, running at 2.97) on a 775 socket (I have a 750i SLi)?

Any magic out there? Can't really afford a new MB at this stage.

Technology & Hardware / Graphics cad buying advice
« on: October 09, 2013, 12:32:26 pm »
Hi all, I have been given the OK to buy a new card and am keen on a GTX760. There are quite a few of these new cards and I have no idea which one to go for. They also come 2GB and 4gb. Any suggestions? I want it to run BF4 reasonably well.

Also will a pci-e3 card run on my 750i SLI MB?

Here's a 4GB one that sounds great for under $500

And another for $50 more
http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/components/componentview.asp?r=p&partid=19900

And a 2GB one

Then I just got an email from Computerlounge with some AMD deals, how would this 7970compare to the GTX 760's?

Technology & Hardware / PCIe help
« on: June 22, 2013, 10:56:32 am »
Hi team, I have 2 GTX460's running in SLi, one's a Leadteck, one's a Palit. Both have the same core speeds etc. Just looking at them using CPU-Z and the Leadteck card has the PCIe 2.0 x16 @162.0, the Palit one is pCIe 2.0x16 @82. That seems like the second one isn't running at full power. Both have the latest bios updates as far as I can tell and I checked in NVIDEA control panel and I have it set to maximum power.

Anything else I can check? Does it make a difference?

The motherboard is an XFX 750i, could there be something in the MB bios perhaps.

Technology & Hardware / Advice re CPU and MB
« on: May 20, 2013, 11:14:23 am »
Hi guys, a good friend wants to upgrade his machine. He needs a good CPU and MB combo, and perhaps faster RAM, what would you advise.
He doesn't play games but uses video and photoshop handling very large files. Money is not too important.
Cheers...
