Installed on Friday and ran StartisBack. Bye bye metro :D

I have one issue with rebooting. The OS is installed correctly for UEFI and the "BIOS" shows Windows boot loader, SSD is partitioned correctly etc. Start up times are lightening fast, but reboots are slow in comparison. The advanced shutdown/restart option menu is also missing the boot to "BIOS" option.

I was missing fences from stardock since the first version is buggy in windows 8 so bought it, only 10 bucks lol so much awesome.

Not bothered by the metroui start menu although will give it time and fall back of startisback if it really is that much of an issue

That sounds right. A shutdown/startup hibernates the kernel, which allows it to start up much faster. A reboot on the otherhand has to load everything from scratch.

My issue is that its slower than Windows 7 rebooting.

How often do you reboot that warrants concern?

Does 30 seconds really matter? It is still better than ME's boot time which I remember being in the 2-3 Minute mark

This is my reboot time in Win7 with the same hardware and now its about 16s with Win 8. I'm just more curious on why there is a difference, you would expect that it would stay about the same figure.

Can't stand metro, and the idea of having to download some shitty third party program, that looks shit, Just isn't good enough imo ;p
Navigating metro is also annoying as hell, and the fact they're making you intergrate your microsoft account with everything, just feels so apple, it dun sickens me.

And I don't know if this is my new computer doing this, or if it was windows 8, but I transferred l4d2 backup from my dads pc, to my pc, and while doing the transfer, it disconnected me from the internet.

Now on a legit copy of windows 7, My "computer guy" traded me my copy of windows 8 for windows 7 :)

Xbox music pass has a 1 month trial. Worth giving it a shot if you're running windows 8.

You'll have to change your computer Region to US if you want to download apps like Netflix in the app store.

You also need to have some kind of DNS/VPN setup like http://www.unotelly.com/unodns/ (US$4 a month) for netflix to work.

Hawaii Five-0 has been sponsored by MS for a long time, but now it's beginning to verge on ridiculous.

This is the thing I cant understand. I have not seen a advertising push this big since Windows 95.

I may hate on Apple, but at least they are surprisingly unobtrusive with their advertising, and it is mainly their 'core audience' and Apple Geniuses who deserves all the hate anyway.

Lol, head of Windows bails (possibly forced).

Made OS for tablets. PC users (major market) hate it. Not doing so well.
Made surface to run win8. Surface not doing so well.
The words "effective immediately" ring harsh.

I'm pretty sure he left because of personality clashes that had been getting worse since he rose to power and was in charge of windows 7. Apparently he didn't want to play nice with other M$ divisions

Microsoft must be going absolutely all out with the Windows advertising.
