Shouldn't your antenna turn on be controlled by your stereo?
I'm in the process of changing my interior colour scheme. So far all i've done is had my roof lining changed from white to black and got my windows tinted to 18%. I've also painted my A, B and C pillars black as well as the reading lights and main console lights and the hooks/handles attached to the roof. Next job is retrim for the seats as well as a new set of 20" rims to replace my current ones because cleaning chrome is long task.I suppose in that situation you would want to lower the kit instead of the car?
Also, anyone know of people lowering a ba/bf falcon thats running on 20s? I get a little bit of tyre rubbing at full lock, just want to know how much worse it will get if i lower the car a bit.
Shouldn't your antenna turn on be controlled by your stereo?Yeah but there is no option on the stereo to keep it down (sony unit.) Also the unit keeps it up even in bluetooth and aux modes. You don't even need it up to get a clear signal 99% of the time.
Yes. Hence putting in a switch to keep it down.xoxo
huh? sunny down here
Having had a car with a sunroof, I never will again. Leak magnets!
I'm going to sponge bathe my car today.
Probably not the best weather to wash your car in unless you plan to dry it manually.
Most people I know. I don't think I have come across anyone who will go over the car drying it by hand.I'll always hand dry too.
I've got a sunroof with a bit of rust :/:/ sucks bro, is it early enough that you can unbolt it and treat it? Mines past the point of return :<
Some people don't hand dry their cars!?
Exciting pics to come!
Gained carpal tunnel while attempting to remove the haze from my Soarer's headlights, does look somewhat marginally better however.

Going to go and wash my new addition... M35 Stagea.
How does that work? What's haze?

Is that hazey crap hard to remove on headlights? Would have to pull mine apart to do it D:
Today i topped up my oil, it required 2 liters....500km's ago it was full... I think there might be a problem :(
Is that hazey crap hard to remove on headlights? Would have to pull mine apart to do it D:
ouch -_- hopefully it's not leaking into rad fluid?
No it's not going in to the coolant. It's going out the back in huge clouds of smoke :/ Stuffed piston rings seems to be the general consensus. It's been doing it for a while and I just keep topping up the oil. Although 2 liters in 500km is the worst it's been.
Nuetral + brick on the throttle + video camera = BANG youtube clip
I joke.
Engine rebuild time though :(
Yeah nah, nice fresh rebuilt turbo on there. Maybe if I take that off first.
TBH i don't think a rebuild is economical. It's a 1JZGTE, i'm hoping to pick up a lowish mileage engine and just chuck that straight in there. Haven't found a suitable one yet.
WTF are you driving???
Traction control
I refitted my reflashed ECU. No more engine light yay. Now to take out the TCL warning light, and it'll be just like a bought one :D
I learnt something today.
Summer + cold air intake = carrying unneccessary weight of about 15,000 flies and moths in air filter. Should clean monthly.
I also learnt that my girlfriend dislikes me telling her she eats to much chocolate and I'm going to dump her when she's fat, but that's unrelated.
Driving wifes car to Honda today to get them to unlock the radio... can't find the code card :(
Curbed one of my new wheels :(
^ I shall see. Otherwise Honda East Tamaki can sort it...
We got a new Holden Series II Omega at work just last week, nice, navman fitted as standard by the looks. Handles a bit better than the series I but whoever designed the heater/aircon controls wants a slap upside the head!
i put petrol in my car $120 later i died a little inside
EDIT: Traction Control
harden up $170ish to fill mine up on 95........
what the hell you drive?
Er, You do know that anyone posting here will more than likely be running 95 or 98 Octane. This being priced at $2.30 a Litre, even my wife's S2000 (2.0 Litre manual, 45 Litre Tank) costs a tonne to fill.
Our Run-Around Levin cost 120 ish to fill on 95 last week and don't get me started on my GTT :(
My Skyline has a 65 Litre tank
$80 to fill my BF Falcon with 98 octane. Yay for living in Aus =P
Costs $25 to fill mine.
$1/liter? Really? Surely those things must have at least an 80 liter tank?
Fucking loved owning a 250cc motorbike. Use to cost $20 to fill and that'd last about 200-300km's.
what the hell you drive?
Also put 98 in, laughed hysterically at how the 4AGE thinks 98 is some sort of rocket fuel.
Did you notice a big difference from 95? i run 95 on my 4age haha.
85psi? D:
VW (Very Wrong)
haha, its always been a good runner coming up 190K is whats wrong with it, these kinda things can be expected only problem is having money to fix them
Make sure wife doesn't allocate PC funds to said purchase.
VW (Very Wrong)
Check your faders ;)
Not really. I find mine Very Wright (no, not Orville).
Haven't had a problem with my Golf yet. everything running fine, not too thirsty around town, great on road trips.
Nurse has just got herself a 1987 Volvo 360 GLT complete with cassette deck. It's a minter and a pleasure to drive.
Both our cars need minimal attention above and beyond the usual (tire pressure, liquids, fuel). I suppose we could wash them, but with water restrictions and sewerage still broken about the place, it's like a badge of honour to have a dirty car.
So, all I have done to my care today is drive it.
currently thinking about fixing hte stereo in the car - sound is only coming out of the front passenger speaker - the 3 other speakers have no sound coming out of them
have to decide if i can be bothered doing it myself or whether to take it into a car stereo place and get them to have a look at it
What happens when you are stopped at a stop sign and an elderly lady cuts the corner...Shit.
Shit.
I hope you kicked the old bat to the curb and possum stomped her false teeth out.
I joke.
What is that, an 70s-80s beamer? Looks like it has had a respray or a repair there already...
Fuck, I was fixing my accident on the discombobulator, and i accident the whodickey!
I stood at a distance from my car, then casually and gingerly loafed around it, finishing my inspection with a light double tap on the back left tire with my right foot illustrating that I am happy with my cars current mechanical state and allowing on lookers to believe that I am well versed in vehicular maintenance.
Filled up. 433km off my last tank of 62 liters :/ could be worse I guess. Oh and another 2 liters of oil, thats definitely getting worse :(
1974 Triumph Stag (which are now owned by BMW)
She's been part of the family since 1983, my family has a long association with Triumph as the Grand Father worked in the factory from '47 to '77, guess it's in the blood.
Now I just need to fix the rest of it.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
no compression on #3.... fuckity fuck fuck fuck!
to fix or replace or say goodbye.
Haha. $600 for seized caliper pistons! Gotta watch these mechanics.
Berg, you're not carlgbc on the sdu forums are you?
He has an r34 that looks a lot similar to yours
Geebus. I had one seized, got away with $400 for the lot (including machining disks).
That's me! But that Stalinist regime banned me so I havnt been back.
Dude! Both my fronts were screwed, got a whole new set off trademe (calipers+discs) for $100.
Haha. $600 for seized caliper pistons! Gotta watch these mechanics.
Oh nice. I can do basic stuff but I wouldn't go near brakes...
Yeah brakes are uber easy.
But dont screw it up, or you will die a painful death.
Or you get air in your brake line and have to bleed the whole system.
Lol bro its simple as chips for me was just 2 bolts holding the caliper on, 1 for the brake fluid like and a bolt with a split pin for the handbrake + a bolt holding that bracket on. I just took wheel off and had a look and had a go, passed at the wof station :) easy.
Bleed takes 5 min.
But we understand, you are a girly man :P
Replacing the pads is easy but a ceased piston, gah, $#@! that. Besides, with the machining from the damaged disk/s and the bleed + new pads $400 to have some other bastard take care of it is a no brainer for me. :D
Put it on Trademe - hopeful for a see-ya-later
Yeah I can't understand the later model levin attraction, ugly as sin for coupes and even if you were to modify them so they produced decent power they would torque steer to the point where corners become wishes
Matt black is also ugly as sin and 95% of the matt black jobs I've seen done should have resulted in their owners being shot
95% of the matt black jobs
It wasn't matt black when i got it, it'd just been a spray can gloss job which the sun ruined.
You mean it's the result of someone who didn't know what they were doing? Like the 95% figure quoted earlier?

My excess is 1k and his is 1.5
Sounds like you guys were being idiots.
My excess is 1k and his is 1.5
i would've saved up more but i needed a car cause i lost my first one.
Where did you lose it? Ain't like its a set of fucking car keys now is it.
Where did you lose it? Ain't like its a set of $#@!ing car keys now is it.
more than likely for that excess he "lost" it when he hit that tree/car/immovable object that jumped infront of his car on a fine sunny day in the month of may, whilst obeying all the road rules...
More like pulling the handbrake then powering over like lil bowow said to do in tokyo drift amirite.
Fuckwits loose it as in it was 'mine' because my mums now ex boyfriend bought her a car so she gave me her old one. Shit happened and he wanted it back and got it back, she had no car and needed it more than i + she gave it to me anyways so i gave it back.
Don't jump to conclusions, but then again i guess thats like telling water not to be wet. Being the trolls you all are.
edit: cheers hori

sounds awesome han.
Cleaned mine on sunday, so much mud and silty shit came off of it lol
Just updated my rego. $200 for six months.
Diesel k's next. That will hurt the pocket even more. :(
That looks alot like a car engine to me emrico
Couple of weeks back I decided to finally do something about the bulbs in my dash that don't work.
The ones that aren't working are the left most and right most which isn't good in any car but worse in a Skyline as its nice to be able to see the engine temp and oil pressure gauges at night.
After seeing how gangsta blue LEDs in the dash cluster look I decided to replace all the bulbs with blue T10 LED globes from Jaycar.
As you can see in the provided pic this failed somewhat as a) the single globe T10s are not bright enough, b) I need to either sand the ends of the bulbs a little or add a dab of silicone to diffuse the light better and c) the left and right most bulbs are still not working - I can see all of the speedo, rev and fuel gauges just fine as its a lot brighter than my tab camera would suggest but its still annoying.
After a bunch of fucking round with a test light and peeking behind the dash I have discovered the previous owner was a retard who attempted to hijack the dash lights to power something else which has destroyed the power to these bulbs (its not a fuse I double checked them all) so I bought five 4-LED globes today and with a bit of luck and kiwi ingenuity (read a soldering iron, some bourbon and half a pack of smokes) I should be able to jack something up.
When I finally get that done I will post up pics and move onto the next part of the project, putting blue LEDs in the clock and hazard light button, followed by the daunting task of pulling apart the AC and modifying it so that shows up blue too. By the way I didn't just choose blue randomly (although it looks the best), my headunit shines bright blue so its all fitting.
Just get a massive widebody kit and a huge wing coupled with a jdm sticker and you'll be away :)
or some mspec skirts and end caps with a gtr wing and front bumper. or minus the gtr parts, and leave it with the mspec wing. widebodykits look $#@! brosef.
^ this guy mad greavdog?
^ If you were changing from 1st to 2nd @ over 4,000 RPM she's just doing her job.
I don't think it's a case of "just doing her job". But hopefully after tomorrow I will have a certified exhaust system and a drawn out spec sheet of what my system looks like, which I will keep a copy in my glovebox to show them next time I get asked to pull over.
If you had the cert in your glove box she wouldn't have had to 'just do her job'.
Boost doesn't spool. A turbo spools, or boost accumulates.
Thanks El Capitan, will remember that when I hit my flux capacitor next time.
I bought the car like that, it's passed all of its WOF's; I've made sure it's perfectly legal. And tomorrow, several hundred dollars later, it will be there in black and white on a plate stuck to my 4.5" 'cannon'.
Nothing is more soothing than a 'ghetto' RB bouncing off the limiter gutter to gutter amirite gamjizzle
Dunno about that, you're waiting for the kettle to boil really. And Christchurch mornings are fucken cold these days mate.
And like she knows what the stock R32 exhaust setup looks/sounds like? Totally fair right there.
Pretty bloody obvious difference between stock R32 and aftermarket.
a) Stock exhaust isn't a 4" dog tucker can
b) Stock exhaust doesn't rumble & rasp
c) Stock doesn't go "pssssst psssshhhht waaaaaaaaaah look at me !!!! pshhhhht"
The stock systems on R32 are pretty bloody quiet actually.
And what's to say that she wasn't an R32 GTR driver herself ? Did you ask...
@Greaver - in his testing at 4K it's putting out 98dB - so yes that car should not be on NZ roads without being toned down.
Well you could have a moan on the internets.
Wow that would have made for some interesting handling if it came on boost mid corner - although iirc you have the model with the blisteins so you would probably be fine.
Went up Whakapapa early in morning with buggar all tread on rears.
Sliding all the way to the mountain and up the mountain, much to the amusement of those behind me.
Went to leave at 3pm and had to get girlfriend to push me out of carpark.
@ Lee - got an A4 B8 Diesel - nice and economical!
Finally killed the Corolla - well blew the clutch. These things happen.
On the other hand, AE92 parts for sale incl. Red-top 4AGE.
RIP Rolla, time to get a mitsi.
got a new one the other day and gave it a nice clean. Also got a new tyre for a bald wheel and put in my sounds.

replaced tire because of that? disapoint just swap it around so the worn edge is on the outside
Cant cause they're directional tyres? also that one in the photo had a massive cut in the bald side.
I put stickers on my car. Woooop!
Yeah 5 speed, I intend on either rebuilding the engine as a higher spec n/a or swapping it for an m42b18. Atm its just a nice cruiser, sounds good though. Yeah my mate just got a 325i e30. It might be a single cam but it goes so hard and spins out so easy. lexus v8 in there would be insane.
They must be red stickers to make it go faster, or bullet holes.
sick rims bro
Some C*&^t open'd their blue door into my pearl white car....... rage.. so going to see if cut & polish will remove it this we
Track down all blue cars in Whangarei, find white paint transfer, find owner, castrate with blunt spoon?
Oh i know what car it was if i see it size 12 boot will be going through door panel or two
Track down all blue cars in Whangarei, find white paint transfer, find owner, castrate with blunt spoon?
Never mind the boot son.. torch the car and castrate the owner :-P
In regards to the tire they just flip them on the rim and exchange them left to right
If not for the cut it would still have at least 5000km/s in it, especially given it has worn so hard on that side.
Get a wheel alignment dude
The reason its so worn is because my car is so low that the wheels are cambered like shit haha.
And if they did that wouldnt the tyre valves be on the inside of the rim making it hard to reach?
ahhh rage will subside and ill just bitch and moan about it for a few days. get drunk this weekend and have something else to worry about with memory loss
not as ruthless as yourself lol
Nah man the tyres and the rim are completely separate of each other and the valve is a part of the rim, so you can easily go into any tyre shope, say can you please flip the rears on the rims and swap them around and for $0-30 depending on how ratshit they are you will have a crap load more km's left in your tyres
Its extremely important for me too as the camber on the rear just eats tyres.
Pfft I'm a teddy bear these days.. You should have met me in my early 20's.. then I was ruthless ;-P

whats the point in trying to camber shit cars anyways it wont make you a better driver or make the car go faster and fuck your tires faster can someone explain this to me as im at a loss why people do shit like that half assed and then wonder why there always broke
With standard independent suspension, when lowering the car it naturally cambers the wheel, only way to resolve it is to get adjustable camber plates/suspension
Derp = looks cool!!!
yeah i know what does it :P
and it looks cool ? cool to whom... a 12 yrold thats seen it on a race car on tv
had one little faggot like this drive down the street i live on at around 120kmh missing my daughter crossing the road by a few inches
Plenty of stupid things to spend money on - I suppose people do what they want with their hard earned cash ah?
Anyway a small amount of camber looks fucking good on a lot of cars imo - and so long as you get them flipped on the rim regularly (free usually if you go where you buy your tyres from) its hardly an issue.
Some cars look good with stretched tires and a bit of negative camber.
Most cars do not.
I enjoy seeing the odd car with positive camber. Then you know it's not just there for looks, but for the simple fact that it probably has enough power under the hood to munch babies.
that car would handle lyk shit hahaha looks gay as too
Wasn't aware I was still in English class. Thought this was a thread about cars lol whoops my bad.
put new rims on my car today - need to drop it a little bit and should be good to go
Shocks and springs?
inb4mechanicmatt xD
was planning on some concrete bags in the boot and front passanger footwell - hadn't thought about springs..... might try that then
I was going to get it lowered a little bit before i put photos of it up - as it looks silly in its current stance.
All going well the drop will happen next week
Hey anyone who knows bit about turbos and RB engine. I have a rb20det but am wanting to get a bigger turbo for it. I was looking at buying a t3/t4 but have been told it's to big and will make my 20det perform worse because of lag or something? Is there anyway to get around this. And I've been told to get a garret turbo because it goes good with the rb20dets. If anyone knows about these kinda turbos, bit of help would be good. Also would I have to change my ECU from the stock 20det one to chipped or something like that?

photos!!!! do it
Out of interest, can anyone recommend the best place for me to get a RB25DE engine? Preferably with lower km's
Its just to straight swap into my R33 (RB20E Manual) but because I only know the basics of mechanics I don't want to get fucked over through some dodge trade me seller.
Hit up Joe Kyle, he will most likely be able to source you one, or point you in the right direction.
He will also wire it up, do everything for you. Awesome guy when he's not pushed for time. Does all of my work, and a majority of the guys over on the SDU forums where I frequent.
lol - I love how you refer to it as a S15 and not by it's model name.. what's wrong with saying you drive a SYLVIA ? or you could say you have an AREX Elite 951 :P
Ew, the rear is the worst part of an S14 imo.
S12 tbh.
Make any car look liek a honda. Should make your beemer bro, pull some sick skuds
Paint it matte black as well oi :D

hmmmm trying to work out what is clunking around my front right strut area, had sway bar link replaced as it was toast but that wasn't the culprit, not the strut itself either (Have had it checked just in case)
The only thing I can find around the net to do with tein struts clunking is if they're not bolted in correctly -_- nothing loose though
Doing my head in
Hmmm did they replace the link as well as the swaybar?Sway bars all good. Link replaced (the old link was shot)
Also quick Check for piece of mind jack the wheel up off the ground and grab the wheel an pull toward you the push away and side to side as well just to make sure it's not wheel bearing or strut noise
Also does the strut have dust covers that may be loose
priced up some rather expensive parts for the car
Your fault for owning a euro....... what did you break?NFI lol, that being the rubber piece between the top of the strut where it mounts and the strut itself? (Not awfully car savvy tbh)
@codex it's not the springs worn through the rubber stop where its sits in cradle/shock
@ codex - can always brin it round to my place and throw it in the garage to have a looks if ya want another set of eyesYeah could do tomorrow.

^Name the shopping list xD
Codesex, it's your bumpstop, when it was rebuilt (if it was), they just forgot to stick one back in, being a bolt on jobby and all.It has only been doing it in the last month or two though o-o
I'm missing some in mine aswell, makes for some sweet knocks.

be the springy thingy lol ive only got 40mm suspension travel in my car and they wear out and can hear the knocking.

Just use my teleporter bro, leads to my spawn
Awesome xD can't find any good replacement blades :/ I've used repco and supercheap ones and both have shat out within a month so any recommendations for non terrible blades? (I even bought the 'premium' blades from both)
Going to lift car up this weekend hopefully and check all the bolts on the noisy strut to see if there's something loose clunking it around.
am currently being driven up the wall by a knocking sound coming from what i think is the back of the car, i have checked all obvious things still nothing, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get someone to sit in the back and find it while you drive dangerously at high speed through the cbd?
high speed through auckland cbd? u having a laugh?
Let your wife out of the boot?
Purchased a 97 impreza hatch, New wiper blades all round had to replace a blown headlight, gave it a wash and then it rained so back to dirty again.
Just swaped the JVC KD406 stereo out for a panasonic one with usb input. Cant say i own a ipod or bluetooth device for music so jvc is no use to me
Want to sell the headunit?
PM if so
Cheers mayhem
In other news - my Skyline can go fuck itself
I am officially saving for a 2005 or newer double cab 2wd Hilux so I can bag it and stick rims on it. I was never a fan of air bags because they just seem wanky but for the purpose of being able to cruise around extremely low and then travel on open road/in and out of driveways at a sensible height.....well if I can achieve the following I will smile at everyone that calls me a wanker
So it will be similar to this....

Now how are you supposed to take a load of rubbish to the tip or pick up some timber from the yard in THAT!?put the ute on a trailer - just remember to take your trailer back home afterwards...
Taken last week, had just left class from new plymouth polytech
Lol hasn't been skidded? why did it have a locky in it then?

My friend who owned the car before, I've known since I started high school, I was with him when he brought the car from some old guy in Wellington....
Hahaha whatever you say expert. Also when I said never been skidded in a previous post, I should have said has been well maintained or something along those lines. I only wanted to point that fact out, as most skyline's that people buy for the price I got mine, have been thrashed and are generally in bad condition.
The point of his post is that unless you know all the Japanese owners, you truly know nothing about the cars real history. It could have been dumped in a river full of bodies for all you know in Japan and 'reconditioned' for export.
"A Russian training ship spotted the junk — including a refrigerator, Nissan Skyline, a television set and other appliances
Holy shit ldssmith is your skyline form the tsunami
Fucking surflines are awesome, get mad drift air
Nice work! Wiring can be a pain in the arse!
running that shit down chassis is a real drag. Hide that shit under the door seals for minimal fuss if possible.
Top marks!Cheers pitchey xD
Hey, you might not have noticed but there is a rip in your jeans right where your knee is. If you get a needle and some thread you will be able to stitch that right up.
What type of car is it?It's a 98 subaru legacy gtb :>

Hmmmm that orange tone source looks familiar :pI gave credit where due :P
TBH a MAV would give much better fuel economy and performance. :POh? I'm interested in a purchase of this MAV you speak of, continue good sir.
What did I do to my vehicle today? (or Tuesday for that matter)Nice paint job.
Did a seafoam treatment in the carbs, intake manifold etc - damn that shit reeks when burnt.
Detailed and polished the bike.
Drained, flushed and refilled radiator with Pennzoil AF.
Checked wheelbearings.
Checked timing and state of oil.
Then it started snowing :S

Nice paint job.
Looks great alright,is it HRCs test scheme or something?Na, just a promotional colour that Honda used for their show versions of the RCV. Honda Aussie ran similar colours (without the wing) for their superbike team a few years back.
Thanks, Its based on this (attached) and is a red metallic base coat with metallic orange (namedly MAL19 Giallo Perla Met 232b)Is that pick you attached a VFR400 with different fairings?
Looks crazy amazing in direct sunlight :)
new cambelt installed and cam timing checked as well as water pump, tensioner and idler bearing
:) lol, yes i didWas too distracted by the pictures :P good work though!
Nice work
I actually really want to learn the automotive trade for my own purposes at home but there's no such thing as a part time mechanics course unfortunately
Good plan spig.
Strut brace arrived today :B
Serious?
Might have a deeper look in my area
I live in Tauranga and I figured the Polytech would be the only ones with courses, full time 36 hours p/w or part time if you are emplyed at a garage and have done a year full time.
Not ideal lol
Bit hard to swirl it around on a roof though.
not sure if srs?
Bit hard to swirl it around on a roof though.
Sorry, enlighten me?
Because science
Yes, I was better at redox equations when I did level 1, but I'm pretty sure you cant just make oxygen out of thin air (ha geddit?)
4 Fe2+ + O2 → 4 Fe3+ + 2 O2−
If you remove the O2 you get:
4 Fe2+ → 4 Fe3+ + e- which is in equilibrium, so you get:
4 Fe2+ → 4 Fe2+ + C2H6O
which is just iron into iron plus alcohol!!
fucked if I remember though, I literally dipped all my chem knowledge in many shots of tequila the night after the exam.
Finally put the glove box back in the hiace, I was going to stitch a flasher circuit on the ex-alarm LED, but then I realised I dont give a fuck and it's going on sale as soon as it has wof, rego and RUC so ner.
ute soon.
Single Cab Hilux. It's not too late!
GRRR colour doesn't even match slightly. #$#!@!bugger

Mitsis.
You should replace all your hose clamps with the type you have used already, the factory ones are shit and loose their tension, had a car cook on me because of this.
minor damage thankfully
This man speaks wise words, the tension clips are crap - jubilee ftw.Jubilee hose clamps?
Got to the bottom of my recent coolant issues - appears I can trace it back to changing the radiator cap last Dec. The one repco supplied was 1.1 bar (factory is 0.9), and the thing failed - wouldn't open under pressure - end result was cracked the header tank (replaced), cascaded to the thermostat housing (replaced), and a couple of other hoses that fatigued under the load. Not happy with Repco, but you deal with muppets, you get soft cuddly toys. Just got back from a week of skiing with the kids - up & down the hill every day without any issue - now happy.
Still waiting for my new BMW to arrive.
Bikes in the shop getting a stripped bolt helicoiled, coolant system checked out (it was boiling over on the weekend), new grips, and new fork seals, I'd do it myself but I just don't have the time to do it.
Still waiting for my new BMW to arrive.
Sounds like would be fun to rip into xD clogged rad or hosing? If the hosing is stock and unshielded around head it could be falling apart on the inside like mine was
That's pretty bad lol, stronger inhib?
you driving for the crown now ?
Ohhh details?
lol, naw, just for me! Still got the Commies as work hacks.k75s are amazing.
Well, new to me any way, 1999 BMW K75 R/T Ultima
Yeah, coolant, use a better mixture
Ended up just being plugs... so now has 6 new Platinums in & purring.
Front 3 are easy to get at, back 3 required them to remove 1/2 the bloody car (intercooler, inlet manifaulds, strut brace, etc).

Bye Bye Legnum VR4...
nice spig
What year is the Accord the later model ones are really nice.
bugger, what bike are you racing with?
Low sided coming out of the final sweeper at 'puna today.
I "chewed out" my rear tyre earlier in the day, which means a combination of bad suspension setup, tyre pressures and accelerating too hard created a strip around the tyre of rolled rubber, there's very little grip on this strip and I'd felt it step out a few times earlier and knew to take it easy on the final sweeper cause this is where it was slipping the most.
BUT
I was in 2nd place, and the man in first place was less than 1m in front of me, and im much faster in a straight line than he is
SO
remembering to hold back went out the window.
and instead of finishing first, I simply didn't finish at all.
However earlier in the dya I bet my personal best, pulled a 1:44.836 and placed 3rd and 2nd in previous races.

Up to USD$250 already for parts, waiting to hear back from NZ suppliers of a few speciality parts.
Frankytanky had a good day too I gather, but I didn't catch up with him :/
Try justfairings.co.nz
I have dealt with they guy a few times and he is reasonably priced for fibre glass moulded fairings.
Yeah my day was ok, I was happy about the laptime i got down to. Sorry i didn't get a chance to catch up, I didn't even know you crashed! Hope its not too bad. Get back on it asap.
You may need to go a little firmer in the rear perhaps to stop the tearing? Do you know what rider sag you are running?
I am heading to Levels this weekend for a have a go day. forecast looks shit. wicked.
Soon the Munro challenge will be upon us......
Decided to start doing the repair to my defog conduction strip thingermajigers (official name, check that shit) as the PO had tint on, when it was removed (Not by me) they went brutal and ripped half of the fucking conduction stuff with it so my demist on the back window is pathetically weak and takes 20-30 minutes to actually do anything useful.
Masking it up:
Close up what the damage looks like, it's all over the entire pattern.
The conductive stuff you paint on to make it awesome again, get it at jaycar for like 15 bucks:
Go on
U using easyouts? If you can get your hands on a mig tack some fllat (lever) onto it, be your best bet (if accessible of course)
nah it's broken off about 2 or 3mm in, tried an easy out, but fucked up the hole and it's A skewed and B off center.
how oil is getting in there -_-
You need to get yourself something cool.
Also started on my garage/workshop/shed of manhood.
What with? Some C4 or a D4?
:-P
Use some rustkill. Or better yet jusr get the engine media blasted for around 100 bucks.
C4
or
D4
Also started on my garage/workshop/shed of manhood.
Tonight I pulled off one exhaust down pipey thing (what do they call these on a car?)
*Rolls eyes*
I'm making a joke about you starting work on your garage/workshop/shed of manhood and that in order to do so you will have to do manly things like clear it with C4 or level it or clean it out with a D4.
The fact that you can't recognise a genuine piece of iconic earth moving machinery does make me wonder about said manhood though!
(Don't worry, I'm just pulling yer chain! Although how you get pussy cat from Caterpillar is anyone's guess!)
Exhaust manifold.
I think you're my favourite GetSome'er, Bell.
I drove my truck somewhere, dranks lots of beer and drove my wife home. That's what I did to my vehicle today.
Got the wheels off the r6 and the tyres off the rim.
Into Royce Clive for a touch up, they got garked in the November crash.
bounty where did you get your front stand.. do want.
Oh and i just purchased a 2011 r1.... picking it up from akl on 28th feb
I put air in my tyres.
You stick air in yours?
I've been filling mine up with oil. Am I doing it wrong?

I also see, except it's slightly incorrect :)
Pure nitrogen, N or more commonly found as N2, is not the stuff that makes you laugh. N2O is the good stuff
:>
That pun was semi unintentional, N2 would cause aspixiation, not laughing, serious question though anyone used pure nitrogen? That was deep bro...
Agree with dean, anyone that runs nitrogen for a road car is wasting money. Motorsports are the only place you would care about the stability improvements.

Ya. Didn't get a chance pre season. I have about a week to get it done which is going to be a push.
FYI, light hone and new rings, new valves valve springs collets and retainers, new big end and main bearings, new cam chain, general seal replacement and a good once over clean up etc.
Bugger spig....
Hopefully asyou said starter motor just didn't disnegage... What sort of. Clunk....
Clunk crunch is bad just clunk isn't so bad...
These are techal terms btw.
With Starter Motor removed engine now turns over. Now to get that sorted... looks like parts are about 7 quid...
it's a WB series (1500 Twin Carb, High Compression) and not the FH Series 1300 we thought it had.
So the slow speeds are due to your nanny-style driving, not the car?
:-P
I love kerosene, its my new favorite thing. cleaned all the gunk off the chain, off the rear sprocket, both wheels, brake calipers, front sprocket, swing arm, shifter arm, kick stand and sump.
shits looking so fresh and so clean.
Ah good that you used kero, cause it wont strip out the lube in the orings in your chain.
orings made of rubber, kero made of oil, oil eats rubber.
So far as I know.
I was under the impression that all petroleum products do.
Is why one uses soap when squeezing suspension bushes into place.
No I think one uses soap because you want to squeeze something in that you don't want squeezing out again thus if you use soap (detergent?) it's lubricated on the way in, then once the water evaporates it's not lubricated any more? much like popping a bead onto a tyre or placing vinyl stickers? maybe I am wrong.
manufacturer advises to use kerosene...

took her for a run to Little river today...
What year is your r6 I think my ecu interface for flashing the ecu might fit yours...
Which means full blown ycci race maps and settings.....
Nah road. Wasn't gritted went via lyttelton and round the bays aup past the wheat chief.... Around the bays it was gritty very much keep in the tracks or slip and slide but it was just an easy ride since its my first ride since my accident.
Was pretty good thank god we got warned as we were leaving about where the local blue and yellow was parked.
Kept the bike in std mode and gave her one. Or two squirts up to 10k rpm..
But still in break in .. So due for first service now which is just an oil change.
Then next service at 1500 which is a full service and then I can finally ring her neck properly.
Managed 425km this long weekend between thur and friday so will have to get it in for service in the next few weeks.

Light the rag, makes it go faster :p
Now that I have this car, I'm just doing a few cheap tricks to it to spruce it up a little.
It has these nasty white wipers so I took them off yesterday, sanded them back a little and re-painted them with black gloss enamel. The back wiper is white as well but it will need a bit more effort to pull off as it's not easily access like the 2 front ones.
I'd also love to get rid of the 'pod filter' that I think my brother put on it. I don't like the sound pod-filters make.
Does anyone know how much having the springs/suspension replaced, retuned costs? The car is stiff and as solid as Gwyneth Paltrow's ham wallet. I'd like to have it softened up so I don't feel every single dip and bump on the road (the steering can actually take on a mind of its own because of this).
I also think it needs a wheel alignment. According to my brother, it had one before it got the WOF but it can frequently pull hard to the right - not always - but it will never pull to the left.

Brother is an auto-electrician as well as an avid mechanic.I might have to report this to the correct authorities...
Took the car to him to see if he could sort out the speakers (rattling, poor sound etc).
Nek minnit, 12" sub + 600w amp installed, new spark plugs, oil change and a pressure check.
$0
Took my car to the local auto-electrician today and I got it back with some shitty sounding speakers and my 12" sub + 600w amp missing!

^^need bigger buttons imo
what are they for? fan?
Call me immature, but seriously though - surely you'd change your name, let alone stick it all over your business as the business name... "Cockram"
I mean, how many jokes would come from it:
"I'll ram my cock in that Kia" etc.

yeah i thought the same .. they have 4 yards, Cockram Nissan, Cockram Kia, Cockram Cherry and finally Cockram trades.
but they are the only authorised Kia dealer in chch
Just bought a 2000 wrx sti. Much excite.
Just bought a 2000 wrx sti. Much excite.
You shall get to know the local Subaru mechanic well me thinks.
^Ah the terrible trolling.
Nice buy with the 2000 wrx, manual I hope
Yea manual ofc. 6-speed manual at that.Must be considered higher risk than my legacy gtb (tt), only 54 a month for full cover o__o
Hoping no issues on it. The guy took it pretty well through all its ranges, so nothing obvious should be wrong with it atleast. Cars in pretty average condition cosmetically, but some weeks of TLC should hopefully get it up to scratch.
Just got insurance for $70 a month, so seems like things are off to a good start atleast. (Since i was paying $50 on my skyline which was nonturbo)
