Title: Star Wars Battlefront
Post by: Arseynimz on June 16, 2015, 11:03:42 am
I was about to sell my PC. I still will. But in November next year I'm going to have to buy a new one it seems... Dammit EA...

2142 meets Star Wars meets all sorts of awesomeness. You have my attention EA, now go ahead and let me down like you normally do.

It's being made for consoles, instant fail right there.

Unless it's a PC only, e-sports orientated game from the ground up, it's going to be a fail for us.

Such cynicism. Unbridled joy until slow disillusionment then despair is the right way to go.

That cycle started months ago when they said ATAT's would be on rails and not driveable.

I don't see the big deal. It's not like they are very maneuverable, realistically if such a think existed it probably couldn't even turn.

Do you remember the overhill climbing Bf3 madness with tanks etc *cough* mayhem lee *cough*

I want to do that in an ATAT :-)

All the videos I've seen in the last couple of days make this look like Medal of Honor multiplayer. Like tiny corridor maps.

And quite linear. Does it have campaign?

Been playing the beta, game is awesome.

I played for 2 hours last night, and only one map (because the game recommends you 'rank up' before playing Walker Assault).
So I was playing the capture the escape pod map, which was a lot of fun.
It feels very battlefield, but very star wars at the same time. Spawn close to the action which is good, so not much running around.

The map is very open, but also provides a lot of cover. (Rocky terrain with lots of passages, but you can get up on top of the rocks).
I like how the guns handle (and the sound they make, pew, pew). Also one of the secondary guns a kind of sniper rifle (with cooldown), which does massive damage if you get a direct hit.

Graphics look superb. My PC is pretty out of date, I haven't upgraded anything in the last 3 years, but the game still runs well and looks pretty. I would image it would look much better on more powerful rigs.

Game environment looks really awesome too, lots of attention to details, TIE and x-wings flying around fighting each other, crashed ships on the surface. Star destroyers in the sky above. Makes you feel like you are in the middle of a full on war.

Only downside is the game freezes up for me sometimes (mostly in the menus). But it is a beta, hopefully they fix it soon.

It's like battlefield, but star wars.

meh i agree with Lias and i played some of the beta, i prefer the new esports release that Frontier developments have gone with for elite dangerous  with there new CQC  deathmatch.

its basically starwars dog fighting,   BF3 in space vehicles.

Get the beta, how do I?

Through Origin, it should be displayed in your game list already.

Disappointed it's over already.

Spent the whole weekend downloading the thing, played an hour, then couldn't play anymore because of the freezing issue.

Still excited for the game, but they could have keep the beta open a bit longer, to give people an actual chance to play it (never even got to try walker assault mode)

I remember that gorilla on here saying origin is bad news. Where is that gorilla anyway.

IMHO Origin is definitely the "second place" platform behind Steam, because it's better than

Uplay
Games for Windows Live
Impulse / GameStop App
Desura
etc.

Agree

Origin is ok, I've actually got more free games from it then ones I've bought.

Mind you most free games are pretty crappy or just old. (Old is not a bad thing)
I was pretty happy when I got command and conquer: Red alert 2 and Dragon Age: Origins for free.

I didn't really enjoy the beta that much btw.. felt really console and casual gamer orientated to me.

That seems the overall consensus from all the youporntube videos I've watched.

I personally don't see how you can make a massive Battlefield like game competitive. Unless you did squad V squad It would be hell trying to sort out a 32 player competitive team.

You put affliction on one team, everyone elso on the other team and "other team" equips Carl Gustavs. Exclusively.

Has this thing amounted to anything. Still looks very pretty, but very shallow. Just like me.

My sentiments exactly.

Gorgeous looking game. Sounds amazing. Plays as smoothly as a buttered up cock in a bag of olive oil but it has 0 depth. No hooks. No reason to play it more than a once.

I've been watching some videos. It has quite a few modes and I'm itching to buy it but I know it'll last a long weekend. Should just carry on wiyth my BO3 grind and be happy.

yeah it looks fun but the sorta shiny fun that lasts a month at most, pretty much why after 2 weeks of BF4 i stopped buying anything to do with the franchise
