Virtual desktops look like they would be useful at work.

They weren't.

and before they can become citizens they should have to pass a citizenship test that demonstrates they understand NZ culture.

NZ culture test

Q1. If you have a box of 24 beers, and you can drink 3 beers an hour, how long will it take to get shitfaced before going home and smacking up your partner?

We should be choosier about who we let in, English skills, relevant and needed work skills, assets and cultural fit should all be boxes that must be ticked for residency.

Yes to the first two, no to the last two.

If someone is coming here to work in an industry where there is high demand to full a skill shortage, the only asset they need is their work skills. I can't think of any other assets which would be desirable.

I couldn't care less about cultural fit. What is the NZ culture anyway? Rugby and drinking? Because I certainly don't fit into that and I was born here.

I was walking through the Auckland botanical gardens with my kids. Suddenly there's a bunch of about 8 people staring at their phones and one said, "look, there's one over there!"

It was weird.

You think racism and bigotry are refreshing?

You are a terrible person.

Hillary represented the continuation of the same old system thats slowly but surely been destroying the middle class. The system that favours corporate interests over working families. I don't think people voted for Trump as much as they voted against Hillary.

And trump is far worse. He's a puppet for the oil industry and Russia.

Trump didn't get elected because he's a great person or the best candidate. He got elected for the same reasons that Brexit happened, that the Pirate Party did so well in Iceland, why Le Pen and the FN are doing so well in the Polls, why Winston will likely be the kingmaker if not the PM in NZ next year. Because the majority of people are fed up with the system, and will seize any candidate who offers a realistic chance at change.

Hillary Clinton was a career politician, a pathological liar, and provably corrupt. She embodied "the establishment" in this election. Trump, despite running as a Republican is not one of them, he's an outsider still disliked by vast swathes of the Republican machine. Sure, some of the people that voted for him are just like him, but a whole lot more voted for him as a voice for change. The fact he has "no political experience" was a positive to the majority of voters.

You are wrong. Don't try to justify his election as anything but a campaign racism, misogyny, and bigotry.

Trump got elected because almost half of America are racist idiots.

Only an idiot can vote for trump, because he's an idiot himself. He doesn't even believe in science, he's a complete climate change denier, which is evidence enough of his complete stupidity.

Damn right he has no political experience, he is down right incompetent.

Seriously America. You dun goofed, electing this nerd.

Don't call him a nerd, he's far to dumb to qualify for that.

I mean, he said this about his Cyber security policy.

Quote from: Trump
So we have to get very, very tough on cyber and cyber warfare. It is a, it is a huge problem. I have a son. He's 10 years old. He has computers. He is so good with these computers, it's unbelievable. The security aspect of cyber is very, very tough.

His 10 year old son is good with computers.

His policies are hateful. They are also just plain stupid and unworkable.

Building a massive expensive wall on the border? Even though most illegal immigrants are in the country because they overstay their visa, not because the jumped the fence at the border.
Would be far more cheaper to just have some drones flying up and down the border which can spot anyone trying to cross.

He wants to raise tariffs on imports to bring more jobs (despite the fact unemployment is the lowest it's been in 8 years), crap jobs people in China already do for minimal pay, he wants to bring them back to US where no one will actually want to do them, except all the illegal immigrants, but they will get deported anyway.

All new Tesla cars will be self driving.

Quote
We are excited to announce that, as of today, all Tesla vehicles produced in our factory – including Model 3 – will have the hardware needed for full self-driving capability at a safety level substantially greater than that of a human driver. Eight surround cameras provide 360 degree visibility around the car at up to 250 meters of range. Twelve updated ultrasonic sensors complement this vision, allowing for detection of both hard and soft objects at nearly twice the distance of the prior system. A forward-facing radar with enhanced processing provides additional data about the world on a redundant wavelength, capable of seeing through heavy rain, fog, dust and even the car ahead.

Oh, a crossing with lights and no intersection?

I like to push the button, wait for it to change, then walk off on the same side.
It's like, my favourite thing to do.

That's a $10 fine.

I was thinking of those pedestrian crossings situated in the middle of a road, with their own lights (i.e not part of an intersection).

What I find annoying it when I'm crossing on a pedestrian crossings (aka Zebra crossing), and a car comes right pass, and the driver looks right at me, knowing they are supposed to give way to me, but they don't. And they have a big smile on their face, like "Oh sorry, I saw you there, but I forgot how my brakes worked so I just kept going, lolz"

People waiting at pedestrian crossings with lights, that don't push the button to cross.

Maybe they are just be considerate and waiting for a gap in traffic, instead of pushing the button and making all the cars wait.

Better then people who do push the button, then cross anyway and cars are left waiting for no one.

It seams quite deliberate. For more expensive items (kitchen scales for $9.99), the same shipping option is only $7 instead of $18

This would pretty much be against TradeMe's terms and conditions. I reported it, TradeMe don't like it when people try and avoid success fees.

TradeMe could easily prevent this kind of thing by having a maximum price to ship ratio. I mean 18 times the sell price is ridiculous..
