A Canterbury University professor claims to have nearly unleashed pokemania on the world five years ago – only in his version of the popular app, there were no pokeballs.

Professor Rob Lindeman has watched the spectacle of Pokemon Go unfold.

The success could have been all his. It nearly was.

Yeah, I don't think so.

There have probably been thousands of idea's for AR games.
But only Nintendo owns the rights to Pokémon.

I like it, it's funny.

It's the bright spark in an otherwise dull TV lineup.

On Wednesday I watch Big Bang Theory, Fringe and Scrubs, and that's it for the week.

Oh Scrubs, how I miss thee.

Airdrop boxes of cigarettes, get all the ISIS fighters hooked, then cut of the supply.

When they all start getting the withdrawal symptoms, offer them the ultimatum, "Stop being dicks and we'll give you your smokes back"

It's a mission that has attracted international media attention, and now gaming companies in the US are even offering Currie a new job as a professional Pokemon Go instructor.
This generation is fucked

I have to laugh at some of the comments of people raging just because someone likes to play a video game.

This one says it all.

The majority of NZ is so caught up in sports like rugby which serve just as much purpose as Pokemon Go, yet they mock those that play computer games. Irony.

Ash Ketchum quits his job and leaves home on his quest to become a Pokémon master.

What challenges will our heroes face along the way?

Tom Currie just wants to be the very best, like no one ever was.

The 24-year-old Aucklander has quit his job at a Hibiscus Coast cafe to travel around the country catching Pokémon on new app craze Pokémon Go.

At first I thought it was stupid, but now I've learnt to love it.

Even though I can't play it on my phone, and I have no intention of buying a phone that can.

I just love reading all the news stories about it.

Plus, I'm a fan of AR, and Pokémon GO has really made AR go mainstream, no doubt it will be an incentive for developers to create some awesome AR games, not only for the phone, but other platforms like Meta glasses and Hololens.

Bernie Sanders endorsed Crooked Clinton today.

He didn't have much of a choice.

Lesser of two evils.

Clinton for president I say.

Pokemon Go players are being told to stay away from electricity substations and not to climb on power lines.

Transpower issued the warning on Tuesday as the augmented reality game attracted players to all sorts of dangerous situations.

High voltage areas like power lines, towers and substations were no place for video game players, the company warned.

There is no such word as "Pokemons". The plural of Pokemon is Pokemon. Stupid news outlets.

Pokemans is also acceptable.

Incorrect.

It's Pokémon.

Anyone found a dead body yet?

Quote
One “Pokémon GO” player found a dead body while exploring her neighbourhood in search of “Pokémon.”

Shayla Wiggins, a 19-year-old from Riverton, Wyoming, found the body floating in a river near her mother’s home at the B & K Mobile Home Park. “I was trying to get a Pokémon from a natural water resource,”

Sky is the reason why I'm not into sports like rugby.

Because growing up, sports were only on sky. And I didn't have sky.

So instead I played video games.

Anything is better than Clinton.

Wrong.

I'm no fan of Clinton either (Bernie is my man), but it looks like she's got the Democratic nominee in the bag, so we better hope to hell she wins it now.  She's a far better choice then Trump by far.

I'm not worried.

Either he doesn't win, and everything goes back to normal.

Or he wins and opens a portal to hell and destroys the world, then all that practice we have had playing the new doom will pay off.
