Gah, just watched the Carling Cup final. I forgot how they scored the winner. Damn Arsenal.

While this is true, they have been consistent enough, however I would not go any further than that. Both Man U and Arsenal have been less than good throughout the whole season, sure Man U were unbeaten for a while, however they were drawing more games than they should have, and they had quite a few lucky escapes.

Arsenal are set on playing one style of football, and while it used to be attractive, it's like saying that a chick is attractive, but she has a butterface. Sure it's good to look at, but you wouldn't go out with them (for long). Arsenal plays the short passing game - usually really well, however most teams these days have figured out how The Gunners play, and so they just go with a 4-5-1 for most of the game and wait for the opportunities which always come, and pounce on them when Arsenal are not expecting it. Or just long ball into the box continuously.

What needs to change is more of a deviation in the formation, so that the team is not so predictable, and because once the players get into playing how they always play, they often look as though they are finding it rather difficult to adjust to a different style of play, so keep on passing it forward, then hit a brick wall, pass it out to Sagna or Clichy on the wings, and then they pass it back to the defence, who pass it back and then they just cross it into RVP or Chamakh who are usually boxed in by two heavyweight defenders who get the ball most of the time or on the off chance that one of the forwards get it, they usually bottle the chance.

However, as much as it annoys me, I see that the team is improving, if things had gone differently this season then we easily could have come away with a couple of trophies, no excuses, Arsenal fucked up bad too many times. If the team does stick together, then I can see them doing well in the future - I even read a huge article which was published by Arsenal which talked about a ten year plan, which made a lot of sense out of how Arsenal works, but a few things have thrown the plan off, such as the sale of Henry and a few others. Realistically I can see Fabregas and Nasri moving on in the next window, but I can also see them staying, either way the team will move on, and one way or another things will change, I am not sure how much longer the board will keep with this 10 year plan - even though it's almost over (started in 2002/03 or around then).

Tough times, and while people will say it is great that the team is improving, including myself, I am not one to think that just because the team is posting good financial results = the team is doing well. Would be better financial results if they actually won something.

--

Also, the only reason coming second is good is because of the community cup, otherwise I don't care if we finish second, third or fourth.

EDIT: Oooh yea, this was my 20k post.

Do you mean the Community Shield? If so, then that's played between the winners of the league and the FA Cup.

I watched the Thierry Henry Legend mini-documentary the other day. God, we used to break at pace, with speed on both flanks - so direct, and lethal. And we used to score from distance. All the time. Not very often were there 5000 passes in the build-up, only for the ball to be passed out wide and crossed into a box void of Arsenal players. I don't recall us using our best header of the ball to fire the ball into a box full of midgets either.

They better well! I'd much prefer Man U win it than City.

There isn't much in the way of a good outcome. I suppose 22 spontaneous combustions is asking too much.

That made me feel slightly better. It's a shame Adebayor was such a prat, he's good for a header that boy and always scores against Spurs.
