I think you need a reasonable amount of audio gear, or access to said gear (Sequencer, turntables, sampler, drum machine, synthesizer, keyboard etc...)
Its possible to do some mixing on however to do a good job you need some gear.

I am also interested in getting into mixing dubstep and am currently trying to procure the gears on the cheap, which you can do from dump shops or by making the equipment yourself.

lol mt eden is dubstep, the problem is that dubstep is such a wide genre of sound so unless you've been listen to it for a while and know the 'roots', it gets really hard to tell what is and isn't 'dubstep'. example... you listen to some of the dubstep that was dropping in 2003-04 and compare it with todays 'filth' and it sounds like totally different genres. Id almost say all the dubstep being played today is a sub-genre.
