Sup peps
Currently planning a core upgrade for my PC, and am looking for a CPU cooler. Whats good on the market at the moment? Don't mind if it is air or water based, contemplating a Corsair H80i but wanting to see if there is anything else that is good and readily available at the moment. Looking to buy from either Playtech or Computer Lounge.
Specs:
i5-4670k Haswell, probably overclocked (not the coolest cpu about atm)
Asus z87 Sabertooth motherboard
16GB rams (either gskill sniper or corsair vengeance)
CM Storm Sniper case (rules out a dual rad closed water loop)
Anyone have any recommendations/tips of what to stay away from?
Cheers

H80i, all day long.
There are others, maybe even better but my little h80 has been epic. Best to go with proven products.

yep im using one ,solid as .

H80i Vs. H100i - Thoughts?
If you have the room, go for the H100?
-
Yeah I had thought about it, but no room for a double rad in that case (120mm fan rear, 140mm fan top, no room in the front)
-
I'm using the H80 and would recommend.

according tothe tech heads at playtech h100i runs a small percntage cooler but has a load more widgety gear with it. h80i are neat little compact units.

What does this mean? It's less reliable?

The two h100i's I installed had 5 connectors off the CPU head bit (might be the same for h80i) and corsair link wasn't that good (the fan curve wouldn't run off the CPU temp corrrectly and had to use a flat fan speed). I had hoped the H80i would be simpler like the h80.

Have used both (well H80 & H100) If you have the room go for H100i, can run it with more juice & less noise :) although the H80 is also pretty superb and fits all cases

This.
The performance difference is not enough to justify one or the other. H100 does have more airflow, so running the fans on lower is a possibility.
H80i is my recommendation.

Cheers for the input fellas, appreciate it. Likely picking up the h80i this week
Btw, z87 Sabertooth is a damn gorgeous piece of kit. Been staring at it pretty much all weekend
-
Will have to come check it out once you got it setup mate.

Should post pics when done.
-
^definitely will be. Likely to be a bit of case mutilation involved as well

H80i ordered and dispatched.
Now I just need the funds for the CPU to go underneath it
