Normally, I have been the one to dish out ISP/WAN advice, however - my last 2 companies paid for my home internet as part of my perks, so It's been 9 years since I have had to pay for my own internet.
So I'm a little rusty.
Currently am with ICONZ (yes that ICONZ) as they were who my company provided my connection through, but it seems a bit steep $150/mo for Unlimited VDSL - however I genuinely don't know.
So who is good, what are the ball park figures etc.

Hey Guys,
I have thus far not been able to google my way out of this issue:
I am a drummer and like to be able to record to my PC - my previous rig (Gigabyte UD5 x58 board with realtek onboard audio and Windows 7 Ultimate) was fine - I could record and listen to my playing without any issues
My current rig (Windows 8.1, Gigabye G1 Sniper 5 board with onboard audio) has massive (300 ms which for drumming is 1 full click out at 180 bpm) I cannot solve this.
I have a PCI recording card but alas, my board only has PCI-E slots.
My question then is 3 fold:
1: anyone got ideas how to solve this issue on my current rig? 2: if not - anyone got an old rig they are looking to offload that has a PCI slot (ideally some form of semi decent dual or quad - it needs to be able to run Cubase 5 which is fairly resource hungry) 3: Anyone know of a PCI to PCI-E adapter that is purchasable in NZ

I know there are some bikers around here,
I am probably going to be moving house soon, moving into my own house. In light of this, it means I am going to have to move further out (where I can afford property) and my current car (Mazda 6) although isn't particularly fuel hungy, the increase in distance is making me think about turning to the Dark side.
TBH, I probably would only bother with my Learner motorbike licence (although the idea of a Turbo-charged Hayabusa is a tempting arguement for a Full bike licence...) and am thinking something like a Honda CB400R (or similar) so that I can ride to and from work for my commute to save on Gas.
My question is - I have heard that once you add ACC levies, Decent safety gear (Helmet, Leathers, Armour, boots etc.) that it all adds up quickly and doesn't do much to offset the savings in Fuel.
So - Opinions?

Hey guys - I have a question from my Brother, he is wanting to get some VB macros for Excel to do the following:
Look at a folder structure and output the folders to Excel:
(so look in C:\stuff and output the folder names to Excel) so:
job1 job2 job3 etc
Then Look into each sub folder that is there and determine if there is a particular .pdf
So looking into C:\stuff\Job1\Folder1 and seeing if there is a .pdf file in there - if there is, set the status in Excel to something like 'opened'
Then look into a different sub-sub folder and see if there is a *.doc file in there
So looking into C:\stuff\Job1\Folder2 and seeing if there is a *.doc in there and setting the status in Excel to something like 'tested, awaiting approval'
Then look into another different sub-sub folder and see if there is a *.doc file in there
So looking into C:\stuff\Job1\Folder3 and seeing if there is a *.doc in there and setting the status in Excel to something like 'Billed'
so it would look like this in Excel:
job1 - Billed Job2 - opened job3 - Tested awaiting approval
Anyone here that could be keen to write this? I am sure there could be some form of fee arranged (copping a feel etc.)

So recently, after getting married, we got a PS3. The Wifesicles refuses to play on a PC cause she can't handle the controls and so we got a PS3 and have been having the occassional game together.
However this has highlighted the difference between myself (who is a proud gamer) and my wife who just occassionally likes to play Games.
For example - I get enraged at the linear, scripted, Minigame infested, and poorly designed levels of nearly all the RPG adventure games that we have played together.
Things like having an a barrier with sceneray behind it that I can't jump over (because its 1 foot tall) yet being able to double jump to ledges that are over 6 foot tall. Things like having great big pulsating neon direction markers telling me where to go every 5 seconds. Things like when I am exploring an area, destroying objects for shits and giggles or to find money/items - suddenly taking me to a cutscene I can't escape which then teleports me into a section where I can't go back to finish exploring the area I was in before.
Now while this is going on - when my wife plays, she struggles to figure out where she needs to go, or how she needs to get there. This is despite there beinga giant neon flashing sign indicating the way. Or when she plays, she runs straight past things that might give her items because they are a bit tricky to get.
So my thought is this - what does it mean to be a gamer?
To me a gamer is someone who relishes the challenges of a game - someone designed that secret area so that it is accessible and it is my half of the implied social contract to figure out how to access it - rather than just breeze past it cause it takes more than 2 tried to get. A gamer is also a problem solver - we don't need giant neon flashing signs to tell us where to go - we should be able to figure it out on our own. Finally a gamer is someone who instead of lowering the challenge to meet their skill level, raises there skill level to meet the challenge.
The problem is - there aren't many gamers any more - there are only the great unwashed masses who want to be able to jump on for an hour, complete a section without any real challenge, miss half the items, go through a series of mini-games that are essentially identical to every other game out there, by pointed in the right direction all the time and have no desire to try and explore.
Thoughts?

Hi All,
I need to setup a multiple monitor setup for a work PC,
has 4 screens setup like so:
Mon 1 Mon 2
Mon 3 Mon 4
now I am a thinking that I get a dual head GPU and get a DVI splitter cable and have monitors 1 and 2 on one DVI cable, and monitors 3 and 4 on the second
would this work?
