Someone needs to tell this kid he has a dumb idea.

Quote
Lucas' idea is to develop small GPS trackers that can be stuck to anything from phones, keys and wallets to clothing and bags, which can then be tracked via a mobile app.

The aim is to have the GPS accurate down to a metre, enabling it to be tracked not just to a region but also within a home environment.

Firstly, GPS is not accurate down to a metre, particularly indoors.

Phones already have this feature, so it seams kind of redundant.

How will the trackers communicate, a mobile connection? radio? However will it be powered, GPS devices use a lot of power.

Exactly.

Anyone can come up with an idea. Probably thousands of people have already had this idea.

If he actually had a prototype then it would be interesting. But at the moment he's got nothing (and $5000).

Other ideas floating around Lucas' head include rowing and cycling machines, which use dynamos to charge batteries which could in turn power the gym in which they are used, something he hopes might bring the price of gyms down a bit.

Why not hamsters running on treadmills?

Gabrielle Newton really loves Justin Bieber.
Maybe you guessed from the picture above. She loves him so much that that’s not actually even her name anymore: She changed it by deed poll, and is now Gabrielle Newton-Bieber.

A 20 metre timber pirate ship which was a centrepiece of Hastings' Splash Planet theme park for almost 50 years has been destroyed in an Easter Sunday arson.

The ship, built mainly by volunteers and an original attraction when the park was first established as Fantasyland in 1967, was ablaze when the first of three fire crews from Hastings and Napier arrived after the alarm was raised at 6.01am.

They need to walk the plank

Why...Why do people do this sort of stuff!  :o

Some complete scumbag arsehole burnt down the replacement pirate ship!!

6 months ago, move into house that is riddled with black mould (and leaky roof). Constantly bring it to landlord's attention asking for it to be fixed, ignores complaints. Over Christmas I get sick due to damp, mouldy house (GF has already fallen ill with pneumonia). Email landlord asking for it to be looked at (for the umpteenth time), offers to replace curtains, reply saying this isn't good enough, new curtains will not solve mould problems, he's not willing to do anything else.

Email asking for our tenancy to be terminated on the grounds of not providing house that is up to reasonable living standards. Agrees, and asks us to be out before the 18th - WTF. Email saying you can't force us out so quickly, he responds with "I'm the landlord, I have rights".

Also discover he pocketed our bond and never lodged it with Tenancy Services. Neat.

So, have a week to try and organise a new place and take him to the tenancy tribunal.

Ugh.
