^ I dislike them very much.I wouldnt know who the fuck they are, I just liked the dancing and the fact he sounds like Smith. I happen to like The Cure.
It's Miley Cyrus' brother riding the coat tails. I don't mind The Cure, but I have a natural distrust of bands where the synths are louder than the guitars.Yeah.

Various Artists - Skinhead Revolt
Early ska/reggae from Jamaican artists. Not Neo Nazi/White power skinhead music if you were wondering
What rap's suppose to sound like!
atmosphere disagrees
Both different styles tbh. Jeru The Damaja's debut album = one of the best debut album's of all time in any genre tbh and is considered to be a hip-hop classic (for good reason).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sun_Rises_in_the_East
lol. The word "classic" is thrown around too much in rap circles. The album was good, but far from being a classic. And Jeru is irrelevant without a Primo beat.
Ok fine. It's one of the best hip-hop albums of all time. See I didn't use the word 'classic'. Happy?
Anyway, are you kidding, have you read or actually listened to the lyrics?
Yes no doubt DJ Premier beats in that album were fantastically good but the album is good for reasons far beyond DJ Premier's beats.
Yea I've listened to the album and besides Primo's beats the CD is forgettable. Fact is Jeru was a one hit wonder. Besides, "You can't stop the prophet" and "Playin' yaself" (on Wrath...) no one cares. 5 dollars says you don't know anyone that can recite a single verse verbatim by Jeru.
Massive Attacks essential mix
then going to be listening to pendulums essential mix
...Sony or Aiwa, black or white, I fit in all stereotypes
I'm descending from the sky like Gabriel the arch angel

You said you studied my style, it makes me wonder buddy
Cos you're not even good enough to be my understudy...
Understudy? Yo that's suicidal
Fuck that sh!t, Supernatural is your idol
I grab mics and push niggas to the left
so fast, their hearts end up on the right side of their chests
Beni - 'My Love Sees You.'
I got neg repped for listening to this song.
I can probably bet that the person who neg repped me has never heard of it before, and is just going by the name of it and it's pansy-like theme.
It was a year to this day that my best friend died
For weeks I sat alone in my room and cried
And I tried to pretend everything was fine
But my soul couldn't rest until vengeance was mine

slave new world - SepulturaMy man.
Justice - Let there be light
Haven't enjoyed an electronica band this much since Daft Punk.
Having listened to a number of songs from the album, they are a different style to Daft Punk but still have elements of French house music that both Justice and Daft Punk share. Good mix of typical house music to glitch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glitch_(music)) (e.g. the song 'Genesis').
Hearing more and reading up more, Justice (or at least the 'Cross' album) could be classed as 'Microhouse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microhouse)'
The Screaming Jets - Helping Hand :rnr:
Eaten - Bloodbath

All thanks to this post I actually bought Pendulum - Hold Your Colour.
Pendulum - Tarantula. Awesome song, always loved it.
Love that bit in Underbelly with Alphonse in the sports bar or what ever.
I hope you not one of those 'electronic music elites' out there that listens to all the gritty type of electronic music because it's 'darker' and 'harder'.
Electronic music should never be fun sounding ever!. Or maybe it's the 'indie' aka 'it's popular so it must be bad' line of thinking. But hey... I could be way off track.
Hardstyle is to electronic music like death or heavy metal is to rock and carries the same type of attitudes from their fans which I've seen and heard far too much.

I wouldn't call myself an Electronica Elite but i do listen to a lot more Electronica than your average Basshunter fan.
I don't listen to a genre of music because it carries a certain connotation to it, i listen to it because I LIKE IT... I listen to a lot of Hardstyle/Dream Dance/Eurodance/trance because of how it makes me feel.
Currently listening to Castles in the Sky by Ian Van Dahl.
Lauryn Hill - "Ex-factor" [The Miseducation of lauryn Hill] (1998)

The Prodigy - Invaders Must Die
Tiesto - Elements of Life, live mix from Copenhagen
Tiesto - good, but insanely overrated by his fans (not saying you're one of those fans but you know what I mean...)
It's more the attitude of some Teisto fans thinking he's God to electronic music and the rather arrogant way he/they market him as the 'World #1 DJ' BS.
But hey as with a lot of stuff I like:
Like the music, hate the fans.

For the last couple of days I have been listening to something I normally wouldn't listen to much, Linken Park - Minutes to Midnight - Leave Out All The Rest.
Thats the only song I have been listening to from their albums in over two years :P I don't know why, but its the only song I seem to like out of them all.
Just sayI'd rather post the video than find out who it was by, and you lot can see the video and hear the music. I don't know what you lot are complaining about tbh.

The early destiny's child was the best..the stuff when they had 4 members. totally agree on the new age R n B crap now though. For instance, though Im NOT a Beyonce Knowles fan whats with her releases these days? talk about bitch on at 'men syndrome'. Makes all men out to be womanising, lay-around drop kicks. I wanna smash my radio when I hear her bleat on. :disappoin

"Chick" music or not, it's still "shit" music = don't listen to it.
Tbh, as people know, I really don't give sh*t about genre and I always judge music objectively. Westlife's first album = quite good, later albums = :/
Anyway, a song a bit more "good music acceptable":
Radiohead - Weird Fishes/Arpeggi
The Polyphonic Spree are a 23-member band from Dallas, TX. The video for "Running Away" is directed by Hal Samples and Julie Doyle. The video consists of over 70,000 individual pictures taken over a ten day period of the band on the road.

and has the sort of hopelessness that seems appropriate

Gary and Melissa
Loved to make love
Loved to make love
Loved to make love to each other
Over and over and over again
For the first few weeks of their relationship
They made love four or five times a night
They were really turned on for awhile
Then to enhance their passion
They bought sex books
The Joy of Sex
The Sensous Couple
The Joy of Sex Part 2
The Kama Sutra
Even Yet More Still Joy of Sex
Popular Mechanics
Betty Crocker
Anything
They tried as many positions as they were capable of
Physically
Physically
Physically
They were really turned on for awhile
Then to heighten their passion
They bought sex toys
Ben-wa balls
French ticklers
Nipple clamps
Cock rings
Whips and chains and bondage gear
Bowling balls
Dildos
Vibrators
Watermelons
Commemorative Statuettes of Liberty
Anything
They were really turned on for awhile
They set up a video camera
And taped themselves having sex
Then they watched it on the VCR
While having more sex
Then to heighten their passion
Gary taped Melissa having sex with some of his friends
And Melissa taped Gary having sex with some of her friends
Then they watched it on the VCR
While having more sex
They were really turned on
As the years went by
Gary and Melissa became fine upstanding members of their community
Although they never married
Their relationship outlasted all the marriages on their block
And they never fought
Except to heighten their passion
They had made an agreement
That when one of them died
The other would continue to live with and make love to the corpse
But as luck would have it
They were both killed in a freak accident
And died at the exact same moment

Thanks for the heads up on the Tooth & Nail distro though.
Missy Elliot - Work It
No one else has her sound in hip-hop. Not really 'block party/club' nor 'cypher, street corner' hip-hop but has elements of both
You mean, aside from her producer, Timbaland? :D
im listening to the ringing in my ears from kids birthday parties at work.
but seriously, im listening to some Kiss. dont ask why.
Autozamm - as for now
album is varied, well produced, songs are good. under rated??
Hot Chip - Over and Over
Just an awesomely catchy track with a decent video clip.
Hot Chip are pretty entertaining live too.
Radiohead - Paranoid Androidfucking awesome LP :rnr:
Last night on The Colbert Report he had a weird Swedish swing-hiphop-jazz band called Movits! It's all in Swedish language; I'm gonna try and check out the album. A clip for your enjoyment:

Enjoying the revamped record shop that Penny Lane is....they have expanded their premises and added EFTPOS (yay) and I could spend thousands there,
Manic Street Preachers - Freedom Of Speech Won't Feed My Children
Fantastic song criticising the 'trendy feel good' protesters in the Western world and how they are oblivious to how spoilt they really are + to the actual issues they protest about. i.e. Let's protest it cuz it's cool to do so, f*ck the issue.
moody blues - knights in white satinTop ten of all time for me. Absolute classic Dave.

^nice, i like it.
Billy Talent - Rusted from the Rain
Subkulture - Erasus

Fast Crew - Breathe It In
Got their album as well. NZ hip-hop is alive and well tbh. I did hear this was an underrated overlooked album ['Set The Record Straight'] and I do feel this was right. Production is top notch.
Placebo - The Bitter End
wish i had more of these guys, different to what i usually listen to, but its nice to have something different
I'd recommend Black Market Music then :D.. that album is awesomesauce
I could never take these guys seriously.. especially after hearing the chick in the group sing "YO IM ON MY MONTHLY"
A shame really. It's a fantastic album. Also they don't take themselves seriously and there are a few lines poking fun at hip-hop in a few songs.
Also they got much better album songs than their singles, in which they even admit it was written by them to have mainstream appeal. Judging music by one line of lyric = stupid.
Going by that logic, I'd never like Eminem's 'Marshall Mathers LP' (one of the best rap albums out there tbh, mainstream or underground).
Stupid?
I dislike pretty much all rap and hiphop .. I don't care for it
Devildriver's latest album - Pray for Villians.
A++
Skaface Claw - Cat Down The Well
its good. punky ska FTW
Alexisonfire - Boiled Frogs
<3 alexisonfire tbh
those guys are mint
Glycerine - Bush
Placebo: Battle for the Sun (full album)

ck, you're soo gangsta! :asian:
Radio New Zealand National :boogie:
The above stuff is far from gangsta rap.
gangsta rap is really only a sub-genre of rap (which is a sub-genre of hip-hop).
The Outsiders Ep
All bow to Hip-hop greatness. Really this is great hip-hop. Listen before pre-juding hip-hop haters.
...
One of the greatest rap songs of all time and proof that, lyrically, rap is light years ahead of other music genres. true story
Strong use of feminine rhyming schemes (English literature term) doesn't make it light years ahead of other genres lyrically.
That said, it is a great song.
Rap focuses on strong storytelling and feminine rhyming schemes, mainly based around everyday urban life with a 4/4 beat and use of sampling, so it it from songs or made famous by Public Enemy, sound bytes and urban sounds.
maybe i should've said rap is light years ahead when it comes to storytelling? Maybe i don't listen to enough of other genres but from what I've heard, there are hardly ANY that are conceptually creative.
Actually, I challenge you to (without going into any technicalities), pick any genre and give me some lyrically creative songs. I bet for every song you can show me, I can point you to 5 rap songs.
And just as much as rap is 'mainly based around everyday urban life", country music is mainly based around the same concept. And so is Blues music.... Basically every genre has a common thread so I don't see what point you were making :)
now playing : Common - "It's your world" [Be](2005)
"...In ancient times once rode across the land
A man unknown on a horse of untold grand,
Adorned his cape by thirty runes of gold
Of whom the tales since ages unknown told...
...The man arrived at the shore of sea
And gazed onto the nightly sky,
His ears could hear and his eyes could see
Two ravens dark as night passing by...
...In a distance far the thunder sounds
And lightnings reached the frozen grounds,
His breath ran fast, his heart pounded strong
As the day now came, awaited oh so long...
...Tears will fall and blood will soon be shed
When the dawn heralds the twilight of the day...
Then into battle they will ride with their swords in hand
For a heathenish foray...
...Countless miles he rode through ice and knee-deep snow
Over mountains 'till the landscape changed its face
So he at last arrived where winds blew strong and chill
Like a welcome to all those who trod this place...
...He in cape was wrapped, and with his hammer 'round his neck
He forced his way though he didn't see the path,
But he did not rest, 'till he had crossed this land of chill
And the storm had calmed, when he stood alone on the hill...
...His eyes could see the forest shining bright
And it's trees reflected solens golden light,
The sound of horns then reached his ears
To welcome him and take away his fears...
...From all their lands the kings, they came
With their retinue of countless men,
And the maiden in full Armour sat on their horses,
Winged, until the night began...
So he rested a while an recovered from his ride,
The horizon gleamed by the mighty northers light,
And the elder ones sang tales about the past,
Of their ancestors pride, that will forever last...
...As the darkness fell and gone was solens light
The silence ruled amongst the men of heathenpride,
Who gatheren in a mighty battle-line
And awaited their Gods to give the final sign...
pretty ignorant tbh
Rap imo is absolute crap, n word this, n word that.. bitch this bitch that .. I grew up ina tough hood bro .. gonna pop a cap in your ass if you wear a blue hat cuz im bloods bro
Eminem's lyrics are analysed in high school English for a reason. Fantastic lyricist in many ways. Fantastic storyteller, particularly The Marshall Mathers LP. Such a funny clever hard-hitting album with fantastic storytelling elements.
Are you serious? :sly: how can you say that but then go on to state that you don't listen to other genres.. pretty ignorant tbh
you also go on to prove your own point wrong
I can guarantee that other peoples favorite genre will always be better than everyone else favorite genre
Rap imo is absolute crap, n word this, n word that.. bitch this bitch that .. I grew up ina tough hood bro .. gonna pop a cap in your ass if you wear a blue hat cuz im bloods bro
For instance I listen to alot of Black Metal - in particular Norwegian Black Metal; which tells the stories of Norse/Viking Myth ..
with lyrics from songs such as this gem from Falkenbachs song 'Heathen Foray'
Epic as fuck story telling imo.. the entire album this song is from tells you the story of Thor, Odin and other Gods.. in this particular song it is Thor hence the hammer around his neck.. and it is the gathering before 'Ragnarok' the end of the world.
Actually, I challenge you to (without going into any technicalities), pick any genre and give me some lyrically creative songs. I bet for every song you can show me, I can point you to 5 rap songs.

10 fold better lyrics and the music is actually created by musicians .. not some fuckwit on a turntable

haha.. wtf ever dude, try listening to some metal from Sweden, Norway, Poland

FOOLS! I cast you all aside!
Your bullets harm me not
I am heresy, blazing hell
The embodiment ov all you fear
I am all which you can never be
A truth revealing hate machine
No longer will I tolerate
Lies from a kingdom built on dread
Yet what if naught exists above?
No shining glory and no god
You question not, blindly believe
Upon your ignorance I shall feast
Damn higher virtues, divine love
Your wooden idols and your law
Kneel before your god yet do not see
He doth feed you lies
Blinds you with fear
Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth
Your hearts I shall tear
With paws ov truth
With slashing jaws I rape
Your feeble womb
No god exists to save you from thy doom
You will never see the light!
Bound to always live by lies!

Shame on a Nigga.. :/
Nigga != Nigg**
Different. yes, it's different. Learn your African American culture.
Some English terminology may help, most specifically this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reclaimed_word
Nigga is much used to address each other in African American culture by males as 'Bro' is by Maori and PI's here.
e.g. 'Sup, nigga' = 'Sup, Bro'.
Cool story bro (lol happy bend?)
You realise you are a stuck record (getit?) when it comes to Rap
IDC.. never will.. your music taste is a shambles
From teeny boy bands to atrocious Rap .. yick
Dude.. your the music elitist here
and btw.. Eminem sucks through and through..
I guess you never took higher education English thus aren't appreciative of what a lyricist Eminem is. Tis a shame really. I don't care if you don't like rap, that's fine, but to be educated about it is another. I post in here often as I love music and want others to appreciate good music regardless of genre. I don't have a nice sound setup cuz of 'oh look, at the prettiness of the speakers'......It's cuz I want to lsiten to my music in the best quality possible for my budget.
Super old news really but:
Nobel Prize-winning poet gives props to Eminem (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/media/nobel-poet-proclaims-his-respect-for-eminems-verbal-energy-585469.html)
ahh .. What?
You're saying that anyone who takes "higher education English" is going to appreciate his lyrics?
I did in fact take "higher education English" and I write a lot of my own music
perhaps I would enjoy the music far more if they (rappers in general - OH NOES) didn't fill every second word with "mother fucker" "Nigger" :disappoin that to me is a cop out .. OH SHIT I CANT FUCKIN THINK OF A WORD TO END THIS BAD ASS RHYME BITCH.. OH I KNOW.. ILL ADD NIGGER TO THIS AND FUCK YOU TO THE END.. YEAH BOOOOOOOOOY
and a small fact.. I enjoy Hip hop instrumentally, I find the beat very good for skating etc etc.. it is however ruined by abusive and often offensive lyrics
No offence to you but maybe if you didn't play pretend expert so much, you wouldn't put your foot in your mouth as much. Having knowledge of audio equipment doesn't automatically equate to you knowing everything about music.

..sounded good not the 'lets jack it up and crank it up as loud as possible thus killing all the depth of the guitars and drums' BS you have today in most metal and rock [Loudness War]
PUHLESS.. when you listen to more metal than what's played occasionally on the Rock, then .. and only then will we take anything you say about Metal seriously..:disappoin
Production differs so drastically depending on the style of Metal, for example some Black goes for the Grim/Kvlt atmosphere using archaic recording to give it that feeling .. but it can go to 'full on' recording studio with exceptional production ala Behemoth or Amon Amarth

for THE '59 SOUND the band—which also features bassist Alex Levine, drummer Benny Horowitz and guitarist Alex Rosamilia—spent six weeks in the studio with producer and former Flogging Molly guitarist Ted Hutt (Chuck Ragan, The Bouncing Souls) to craft an album that reconciles the band’s love for classic rock and soul icons such as Bruce Springsteen, Otis Redding and Tom Petty with their New Jersey punk roots to create a unique musical amalgam that transcends genres and stereotypes.

amazing band
I hate trying to find a song when you only know a couple of lyrics, and even those lyrics are probably wrong, searching in Google comes up with completely opposite results to what I want, Lady Gaga and Anastasia.
The only lyrics I can remember are 'Oh yeaaaa I'mm a Freaaakk'
It's a reasonably old song, maybe from the 90s I think?
I don't really know heaps about music genres so can't explain what type it is, I would probably go for Punk, but that is most likely wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It just looks like Led Zeppelin had so much fun playing together. Their dynamics are seemingly flawless. Infalible, really. This song highlights all four of them as musicians and artists. I really love how they'll start off a song gently and woo you. and then BAM! Before you know it Plant is wailing like no other, Page is shreading it like a god, Jones is slapping a mean bass line, and Bonham is firing off his notorious triplets. Just truely a fantastic rock band.
...oh and Justin Beiber sucks
I like other shit too that's more 'manly' music wise as well so really...good music is good music, regardless of what it is.

Love this..
I strongly recommend you get your hands on "The Song Remains The Same" , which is a film of Zep live in concert. There is also an album of the same name which has the best live versions of Whole Lotta Love, Moby Dick, and my special favourite Dazed and Confused, among others, you will ever hear.
"We Want Your Soul" is a 2003 breakbeat song by British DJ and producer Adam Freeland; the song made the Top 40 charts in several countries, and resulted in an award-winning music video [1]. It is the first song to which Freeland wrote the lyrics [2], he describes it as being "about the destructive side of consumer culture", and about how commercialism is inescapable.
Rather than being sung, the song's verses are spoken by a speech synthesizer; the song also features a sample of Bill Hicks. The song has also been remixed by drum and bass duo Ed Rush & Optical.
The Target Corporation sought to license We Want Your Soul for use in an advertising campaign [3], which Freeland refused.
"Beethoven's Cunt"
Brushing, touching, feeling on your shoulders,
Believing, appealing, kneeling in your worlds,
Oceans are combined,
Being that I love you so much
In the end they all will say
Breaking someone else's heart again,
Find the little evil perpetrator
And feed him to the hungry alligator
You want it all,
You want it all,
Love is not about the profits
Nor the riches in your dreams,
The arms of time are breaking off,
Civilization is on trial,
The clocks eliminating time
Do you believe in me
Ive been walking through these dead farms
But I don't mind,
Ive been screaming through these dead
lungs,
But I cant find,
Being that I love you so much
In the end they all will say
Breaking someone else's heart again,
Find the little evil perpetrator
And feed her to the hungry alligator
You want it all,
You want it all,
Love is not about the profits
Nor the riches in your dreams,
The arms of time are breaking off,
Civilization is on trial,
The clocks eliminating time
Do you believe, in me
But lately Ive been blind
You leave me all alone, left in time,
You left me here to die, left in time,
Leave me all alone, left in time,
The arms of time are breaking off,
Civilization is on trial,
The clocks eliminating time
Do you believe in nothing.
But lately Ive been blind
Leave me all alone, left in time.
L.A. lady you always look so uninspired
when you're hanging around
living with creeps and loving with liars
and everybody knows it's true
that all you're ever gonna be is entertainment
so entertain me
you shiver when they wake up
and once more before they're gone
and even when you're sleeping baby
you're barely holding on
L.A. lady I know your feet must be so tired
from standing on a corner stomping out cigarettes like they were fires
the daughter of a thousand men
you've got your mothers eyes and whorish skin
you're a train wreck
but that's entertainment
you shiver when they wake up
and once more before they're gone
and even when you're sleeping baby you're barely holding on
so throw your skin back in your clothes
and wipe the blood running from your nose
'cause if the price is right tonight anything goes
too many lines, one too many times
you're sharing the same vein
with your stage name
but it never quite feels the same
it never quite feels the same
I said, it never quite feels the same
you shiver when they wake up
and once more before they're gone
and even when you're sleeping baby you're barely holding on
so throw your skin back in your clothes
and wipe the blood running from your nose
'cause if the price is right tonight anything goes
too many lines, one too many times
you're sharing the same vein
with your stage name
but it never quite feels the same
it never quite feels the same
Is it so overwhelming to accept the fact
that everybody feels? Then classify,
objectify each other. Whatever helps
you sleep. The upper class, the middle
class, the lower...we're all one of the
three. It's true there is a color divide.
It's not black or white, it's green. One
nation of division and conformity. Divided
we stand, united we'll fall. So where's
this land of equal opportunity? Divided
we stand. United we'll fall. As you walk
along on stolen ground, ignoring poverty,
remember anyone becomes a criminal
when you leave them starving. So ask
the pro-life, pro-war, right-wing, Christian
how their rationale makes sense. Should
they decide whose children live or die,
and whose rights we should defend?
One nation of division and conformity.
Divided we stand. United we'll fall.

Great album. Not just 'bass in your face' but actual musical composition. Far from 'flithy' club music. To say that the basslines on this album are comparable to the 'WUB WUB' dubstep and 'filthy club music' is a total total insult to this album. The Kraftwerk samples and influence is apparent in this album.

Want to feel sad?Incorrect.

Guitarist Tom DeLonge: "The story behind that is Mark read a letter someone sent him as an email, that a kid wrote before he committed suicide to his parents. We kind of got together and wrote this sad, slow song. It came out sadder than we ever thought it would, which is good too. Any song that moves you is good. Some people listen to it and go 'Wow, that's a real bum-out of a song.' But it's one of those things, a story of a kid not being happy in his life, crossed with us being really lonely on tour. At the end of it there's a better way out, there are better things to do than kill yourself." (thanks, Kaity - Harrisburg, PA)
