My iPhone 4 (out of warranty) appears somewhat buggered and in need of repair.  Anyone know of a reliable repair place, ideally in Auckland?

(If you care, the phone as two related issues: the home button is jammed on, and it won't charge.  Given the home button sits on top of the charging port, it's probably got wet (the missus won't own up to it, but I suspect she had it in her pocket when watering the garden).  That said, it was otherwise working fine for a day and a half till it ran out of juice.  I have tried a number internet solutions to both problems with no avail, including cleaning out the charging port.)

Also, I'm sure that this will invite a lecture about the benefits of other phones.  I'm not looking at a replacement phone, as I've recently spent all my money on house painting and repairs, and don't want an iPhone 5 with its new port.  If the cost of repairs is to high obviously I will revisit this. And yes, I will consider non-Apple products at that time :)

iirc - if you look at the charging port & the head phone jack there are 2 red 'tell tale' (aka you got it wet) markers. If you can see red, it's got wet.

I would think the cost of repair vs replace would make it more viable to pay for a new phone. A lot of the time water damage keeps coming back with corrosion and it's better to abandon ship.

yeah if you do want a good quote from a company that knows what they're doing go see partsurf

Although you might be better throwing it out the window and crying to insurance
