as the title suggests, I've done me'self a little early Christmas present and upgraded for the GTAV PC EXTRAVAGANZA so my old RIG (don't you love it when people call them rigs?) is up for sale (or swaps)
AMD 1100T 6 core jobbie with the stock cooler, would suit an aftermarket cooler as the stock cooler can be quite noisy (can't they all?) 8GB RIPJAWZZZZZZ (SO fast it'll rip your fucking jawz off, be cautious) 6970 2GB Graphix, capable of thermonuclear graphical performance. Conditions: used but still good, I regularly de_dusted my components and they were never OC'd.
After a bigger SSD, so open to swapping the lot above for one or whatever really.. otherwise flick me some offers. Open to anything, would rather pick up/drop off in Auckland but have boxes for shipping etc.
So, long story short - back to work today after 10-days off from my current boring as all hell job and I just don't want to beeeeeeee here!
Post-holiday depression? maybe, but I've been here 5-years and my job is just not exciting (Key account manager for a business focused ISP) it pays the bills and entitles me to free net/phone/mobile. But I just feel like absolute shite.
Does anyone know of anything going? or a particular area I could perhaps start in that would be exciting and offer growth? I had all of my hopes in the Defence force until recently when they gave me literally just over a week before I was to be shipped away for 3-months so now I'm at a complete loss
My photography has been picking up, but no where near stable enough to quit my current job haha.
Edit: I could also just be really jealous, my partner just got a job as a teacher/tutor.. I WANT TO GET A BIG PERSONS JOB!
I'm in the market for few bits'n'pieces as of today and was wondering if some of ya'll could lend a hand or some good advice
I shall start with listing what I'm after..
- New camera body, looking at a 5D MK3 at this stage and for 24-70/70-200 L (possible a 35MM jobby for portrait stuff too, open to suggestions from the camera blokes here) lenses. - Flash, 600EX pairs really good with the MK3 from what I've seen. - Laptop, needs to be used for Lightroom/PS and for teethering whilst shooting, so needs to be pretty sturdy and relatively powerful. - Studio lighting, basics.. umbrella/softbox/few light stands and a backdrop.
If anyone has any tips, advice, shops I should be looking at, dealz, second hand shit ANYTHING - I would appreciate it.. I've done a fair bit of research the last few months but would love second, third and even forth opinions

Has anyone here had a stint with the Navy here in NZ? I've applied for the Naval reserves to get a taste of Navy life to see if I wanna make a go of it fulltime and was wondering what I could expect in the first year.. hell even the first assessments/tests.
I haven't practiced math without a calculator in as long as I can remember so I've been hunting around for basic stuff to jog my memory.. anything else I should do prior? my fitness is def. upto scratch and the 10 push ups will be a walk in the park.
Any information/tips'n'tricks will be appreciated.

Well, I've been given a pretty awesome opportunity to be my best mates 'groom' photographer shortly. Basically the photographer they've booked can't do the main ceremony AND candid/portraits of the groom/groomsmen without increasing the cost quite substantially and therefore they've asked if I would do it.
I must say, I hesitated and advised them I've never done a wedding (even though I won't be doing the ceremony) before and what not and urged them to reason with the pro photographer they already have.. however it's a relatively low-key wedding and they still want me to do em!
I'm nervous as all hell and doubting the equipment I have will be upto the task.. however I came across this wonderfully written Wedding 101 blog and must say it's helpful as all hell- http://www.rokkorfiles.com/Wedding101-page1.html
Anyone else have any other tips/advice? I'll be shooting mainly with my 50mm and my 18-55 for the wider shots and am anticipating borrowing/renting a 24-70 L series lens (or crop-sensor alternative) and still need a good external flash. I'll be shooting the Groom getting ready and some group shots of the guys and then later on will be doing candid stuff at the main ceremony which I think I can tackle .. well I hope so.
