RTCW days,

RTCW was awesome back in the day. I was in !KZ clan  !KZ tERRa...accent on the ERR) and there were some good buggers there. Used to have some awesome battles.

Sorry, just had to say that. Back on topic: sounds like an intense simulation.

I played a bit the other day and it was intense.

As has been ponted out if you're after graphics then this is not for you, as they are AWFUL.

Gameplay however is very good - well once you've worked out what to do and how to use your kits etc.

Will play some more.

It takes abit of time to work out what the hell your supposed to to do and where to go.You start as pfc and work your way up the ranks. As you proceed you get to use more and better tanks, weapons etc.Give it time and you will learn to love it.:sunnies:

the thing that fucks me off about the graphics complaint is that no game is truely photo realistic yet.

and in any case when you're dogfighting in bge the graphics are the last thing on your mind.

Too true. The same applies when you're engaged in a duel with  tank 2km away.

I'm glad you're enjoying it so far Xtinct, its not for the faint of heart but if you can get past the initial brick wall of 'wtf' then it offers up some amazing gameplay opportunities.

Of course mate you always have an open door policy here Poor old Bozza/Hoover, what number did he get? I still remember trying to revive him on Beach when I didn't know you could run out of needles. Never been a game as good as that since.

I remember that, funny as heck once we worked out what the hell was going on. I forget what number he had...3 maybe? I think Happy was #4 but beyond that I forget, we had a fair few members by that point.

Just  note, it is a complex simulation not an arcade game.

So that means

longer travel times: to get into the action, its not gonna be like bf2 where you grab a jet/tank and get to the action in 20seconds it gonna take 5-10min and if you charge in once you get thier you are gonna die.
That said if you play infantry and only use moblie spawn missions you can get to battle within a minute.
Guess what im saying is if you dont have patience and want instant action its not the game for you.

Step learning curve: you are gonna get dominated by people who have been playing for 6 years+

Make sure if you play it you ask for some help the player base is pretty good since its a sim you dont get 15 year old tards.
If you are playing axis (german) you can message me if im on just type .m Bell0 (insert message).

And check the forums for game guides and stuff.

Its one of the most challenging yet rewarding games you can play.
Because you have to really work for each kill you get it, gives you alot of satisfation when you get one.
There is also a lot of freedon, you have a insanely big gaming area and no restrictions on where you can go (only when you can spawn).
You can grab a bunch of any type of unit and go anywhere at any time.
If you wanna do a bomber raid, form a tank column, do a para drop, cruise the sea in some boats, set up a massive AA flak Battery, form a mortar squad, you can do it .

Sounds exactly like Armed Assault. Takes alot of communication & organizing to take vehicles/Objects down..... So do you have to pay monthly for this? keeeeeeeeeeeeen

Yea its comparable to armed assault I guess expect graphics aren't as good the infantry game is weaker but the vehicle combat is much better.
Also ww2ol has more players, some epic battles for important towns can draw like 300 players into the same area.

Here are some live recordings of a single battle made by one of the developers.
(there were other battles going on at the same time as this)

Damn straight.

My most satisfying kill would have to be downing a Hurricane with MG34 in the middle of the night while defending one of those towns in the northern islands (forget the name). The bugger had been strafing us back and forth for ages so it was nice to shut him up by ventilating the canopy as he swooped down for another run.

We had about 40 ground troops and limited air support but managed to fight off 3 British paradrops and a sustained naval bombardment; the Stukas were a beautiful sight after the Destroyers had been pounding us for over an hour.

I later spent an hour real time sitting in a PzIV on the back of a transport ship en route to reinforce the island with armour. Was crazy, air and naval escort, engaged enemy aircraft and gunboats through the narrow channels before finally landing the tanks and having them roll over on the beach! Gah!

Good times though. Those vids just make me want to login right now...can't get this damn desktop working soon enough :(

Naval combat is by far the least developed aspect of the game. At present there are gunboats, Destroyers and freighters. Thats it.

Plans have been in the pipeline to add plenty more to the mix but the reality is that the navies have a very small area in which they can operate effectively and the largest part of it (the French/Dutch coast etc) is cut out of the war relatively early on regardless of whos winning. The rest consists of the river networks and once you are restriced to operating there you're looking at gunboats only.

So it always gets the short end for updates being pushed back despite the fact they have been promised for a very very long time.
