Couriers.

Last night, I wondered where an order of mine was, so logged into the site I ordered it from, and did a track and trace to discover that the day prior delivery was attempted and a "card to collect" was left..
I found this a little odd, because I hadn't received such card.

Checking my security footage for the time of "Attempted delivery" sure enough, I see the courier pull down my driveway, in what looks like his personal car, he gets out of the car holding his scanner thing, no card, no package.. he looks at my garage door, looks at the path up to the house, then gets back in his car and leaves... no card left.

This morning, I get an e-mail from another company for something else I had ordered saying "Delivery was attempted"
Wait... I was home this morning?!
Checking the cameras again, courier driver pulls down the driveway, DOESN'T EVEN GET OUT OF THE VAN, waits about 10 seconds, and just buggers off again.
I WAS HOME! how about knocking on the door!!

Sometimes I just want to open CS1.6 and spend all night playing and drinking shots of Jim Beam mixed with V between rounds... (yes it was as horrible as it sounds)

And then go to school on Monday

Life was simpler then.

Due to the nature of programming, most of the time is too late once the questions been asked.

Might as well answer and try to get back to where you were.

Headphones generally mean "Fuck off, I'm busy", but not adhere to that

And this is how bugs are formed

"Is it ok if I disturb you" is such a redundant question.

'Kayne can't lose his admin, he and I have a special arrangement from way back.

On that note, your latest installment is overdue Kayne...

I like being on non-chorus fibre with a local ISP that only offers fibre and wireless plans, because they aren't affected at all by this, and my price hasn't changed

I'm with the monkey.

Windows 10 is great, and stable if you stick to the mainstream releases.

The broken one xssanz is talking about is the fast ring of the insider program (basically it's an Alpha version)

The release cycle looks something like this:
MS build test group  -> MS Systems Group -> MS internal (everyone) -> Windows Insiders (Fast Ring) -> Windows Insiders (slow Ring) -> Current Branch -> Current Branch for Business -> Long Term Servicing Branch

The slowest two (CBB and LTSB) are only available to business/enterprise customers, CB is "normal" windows 10, WI(SR) is "public beta" and WI(FR) is "public alpha".

it's ok new build again last night to align with the mobile releases numbering combining both streams of dev teams and fixing most known bugs in current fast rign releases and a ton of new Cortana functionality...

Where do you even find the time lol

Seems he taking that "I'll just tell them to get out and ignore them, and they will go away because hopefully they are too stupid to understand the law" approach

General Chat / Christmas Memories...
« on: December 23, 2015, 10:54:32 am »
I remember one year for Christmas I got a 56k modem
I connected it to my PC on COM1 and installed the drivers off the floppy disk.. and.. it wouldn't work

The guy from the Xtraville helpdesk spent his Christmas afternoon helping me re-install Windows95 and clicking "Replace anyway" on these popup boxes (which of course is now obvious to me that some of the networking system files had been 'updated' and some hadn't so they just didn't work.. so they all needed replacing to be the same version)

Later in the afternoon I was able to search Yahoo for.. well.. what do you use the internet for when you have never had it before?
