well we carefully control the birth and death rate of livestock, and they're isolated in a farm, soooo if thry made a sea farm for whales and dolphins that'd be great, totally impractical but that's not my problem. Is it any better preventing extinction if all that is left are animals we "isolate in a farm" and kill as we please?

We seem to justify farming/killing in bulk by removing their ability to have a life in the first place.

I still think murder of 900 dolphins is a bit extreme and shows how dumb these people are. (I dolt like using the term "dumb", but I haven't time to think of a better term, maybe ignorant?)
I'm assuming they then used the dolphins for food etc?

Why the hell is this Chilli bloke posting again? Because around the same time he was banned/out'ed from GPForums for being caught talking to himself with multiple accounts and lying (again).

links back to the hipster comment, game/band is only cool while I like and no one else does, or until it becomes profitable. I was into it when it was underground, never as good as their original stuff, sellouts etc etc etc Or perhaps game made as labour of love happens to result in offering a more enjoyable gameplay experience for someone than a game that was made to make money? Does that just sound too ridiculous in your mind?

mod....not a game A mod is a game? Its a modification of an existing game, to make a new game. Day Z for example, is a game in itself, created by modifying Arma 2. Every source game is simply a "mod" of the source engine is it not? Do these not count as games either? Or 2142, essentially a mod of BF2, the only difference being it cost money compared to something like PoE.

just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean its not popular. goes back to the shrek argument "i can't believe their up to shrek 4 the first was bad enough why make sequels?" believe it or not there are a huge amount of people that like unlocks and the crap along with shrek and they make a crap ton of money, if they didn't they simply wouldn't do it. I don't like Justin Bieber's music either, but its incredibly popular. If Eric Clapton's next album was indistinguishable from a Justin Bieber album, I'd be disappointed too.

i think you'll find that ALL games are made to make money, those that aren't are given away
same with music I think you'll find you missed my point completely then. How much does a mod such as POE cost?

the hipster of battlefield Games are no different to music or movies, some are made to make money, some aren't. Some people prefer the output of something that isn't financially driven, as they definitely provide different results.

Omnipotent jets were way better? Jets were fine in BF2 imo. They should be very powerful, and if both teams have a reasonable pilot in their jets it isn't in issue. Just like if only one team has good infantry the game will be dominated by one team, or a good chopper team on chopper only maps, or armour squads working together.

Yet you will still buy it, because in a world of mediocre fps titles it's still well above average I stopped playing BF3 after 2 weeks. I certainly won't be buying BF4 unless it had some dramatic changes (which I'm 99% confident it won't). I wouldn't play a shit fps game just because its better than other shit fps games, I'd play something non-fps or not play games at all.

What are some examples of recent AAA games not "consolified", except arma? I think that is part of the problem. They are taking the games that weren't "consolified" and making them so, Battlefield was one of them. It's ruining what were great series for many.

How is it not the issue?
If MU wasn't ripping off peoples' stuff, no one would care about them. no more than youtube does.

Because anecdotal evidence is really Really reliable when dealing with legal matters and making decisions that have a Global effect...
Their decision is fine - they don't want to distribute their creation freely. Thats great, but there is a difference between free distribution and copying on the internet. Not to mention the Irony that the industries that are pushing for these changes got Rich by blatantly and intentionally breaking Copyright/Patent laws. There is also a fair amount of evidence to backup the assertation that a looser approach to copyright enforcement promotes creativity which ultimately benefits the Industry by driving more revenue.
As for your friend - by your logic then, if we cancel each other out then the companies wouldn't be experiancing the lose in revenue that they keep touting (despite the huge profits that they consistantly post year after year....) I'm not dealing with legal matters personally, I was stating my experiences. Is that not allowed these days? In regards to 'cancelling each other out', perhaps you should read the last sentence of my post.

Based on what Study/findings?
remember that correlation doesn't equal Causation:
http://torrentfreak.com/swiss-govt-downloading-movies-and-music-will-stay-legal-111202/
the US economy has taken a downturn because of Retardation and Greed based policies (oh the Irony) which in turn has caused ripple effects on other economies less disposable income could Also account for the downturn of sales
and not to mention the Quality of material being released could also be a factor...
As for Easy advertising, it isn't about Easy advertising, there argument is that people that download don't buy the product they have downloaded and this is causing them lost revenue. the retort to this is that people that download, on average, spend MORE on products (not just the media, but associated and complimentary offerings) than someone who doesn't download. my case in point - I download an album from a band I haven't heard. I like the Album, I buy it, I buy the T-shirt and when they come to NZ I pay the $80 to go see them. Hell in some cases I have flown over to Aus to see them. what do I need a study/findings for? I was pointing out my own real-world experiences based on my peers. Its not 'their argument', its 'their decision' not to distribute their own creation freely. You choose to decide that doesn't matter of course, because you know better. I just asked a workmate when he last bought music, he can't remember, at least 3 years ago were his words. He used to buy a lot, now he just downloads it all. So that balances out someone like yourself that goes the other way. I wonder what kind of people there are more of?

The Demon Lord, if the content creator wanted it publically available for 'easy advertising', they would make it so. But they don't.
Much less people I know buy music now than they did 10-15 years ago. That alone is enough for me to know piracy impacts sales.

TPB relesed this which I found interesting I wonder how long the people who create big-budget movies would carry on if 'hollywood' (the people who distribute the movies and make the money based on the article) was gone, and only ThePirateBay remained.

I would imagine if Bulldozer was going to give Sandy Bridge/Sandy Bridge-E a run for its money AMD would have been showing us that already, but they haven't.
