I'll just leave this here....

The BF1918 modification for BF42 (& BF2) was a riot...

I was hoping for a 1942 remake tbh.

Through the ignorance of not researching anything, I think WW1 is too outdated to make a good game.

I would also love to play BF1942 again.

If you're interested in WW1 there is an amazing youtube channel called The Great War. They started in 2014 and they make a video every week starting from July 28, 1914 - the beginning of the war. July 28, 2014 being the 100 year anniversary of the start of the great war.

Underwhelmed personally, but I wasn't keen on a WW1 shooter.

This look good, gone back to when the game was great

I hope it goes back to the basics of the first person shooter in some ways. A few perfectly balanced guns and skill based. I'm also incredibly keen for no lock on weapons.

Yea having to actually aim everything manually will be a plus, also I hope the "quick time" styled melee combat is gone.

Again, skill based, not button mashing. I expect rifles to have controls for firing as well as melee, Such as block, stab, slice etc.

Well as there are going to be different types of melee weapons I'm guessing each will have it's own characteristics, sword may have longer range and slashes while a bayonet stabs and a trench club....clubs. I doubt they will have multiple attack choices with each melee weapon, but will be pleasantly surprised if that is the case.

I just want to be able put out my flaming trench club with a Germans face.

I don't really miss BF2, but I was never a huge fan of it. .. I miss 2142 and BC2 heaps thou.

I never played much of BC2 because of the difficulty of finding good, un-modded servers. (I only got it a few years back) But the game play just felt so right.

One of the things I loved most about BC2 was the base rape. The DICE devs at the time were pretty non PC, and didn't give a fuck and there was none of the namby pamby stuff now. You usually could sit in the enemy base or directly outside it with a shot into spawn and rape them all day.. I miss that.

Bring back the rape IMO.

It was always such a good feeling when you shot the base raper

Played a few rounds of the beta, things I have learned:
spawning without any weapons or equipment is a very annoying bug (apparently only happening in conquest mode, I have not tried rush yet)
having to use regedit to trick the game in to thinking my graphics drivers are compatible is a bit cumbersome (I have a 6950, only 7000 series and above cards are officially supported)
horses are cool, killing guys with the scimitar is fun.
planes are fun, being the rear gunner with a half decent pilot was cool.

So far it's a typical Battlefield Beta, except no game crashes (fingers crossed)

i tried the regedit trick but it doesnt seem to be working for me :( - i'll have to wait until i get a new card

I got my 5870 working and played a couple of rounds but found out not a good idea to play around with the video settings to anything but auto O_O lock ups galore

Can we just give dice a round of applause for game optimisation? I run this better on Ultra then bf4 with a gtx 960. Average 55ish fps. Also had no crashes of any sort and only two bugs. tank and train guns shooting below sights  occasionally and class leveling system not working. Both are quite big bugs but that's expected. Gmae launch has been successful.

Agree with that. Certainly a smoother game than BF4 for me.

Meh - I jumped in, and they have barfed the Dog Fighting - Attack fighter and Air superiority fighter are woefully mismatched.

Loved the memory leak - start game consumes 4Gb, play some rounds - and boom... 8Gb gone... your system is low on memory... um wtf.

I wasn't all that keen going in, but I actually thoroughly enjoyed the beta, despite a few things that made me rage (not being able to pre select a vehicle to spawn into for a start.. can only select it once the vehicle has spawned.. fuck you Dice I want to camp in a tank every spawn)

It was alright. Just standard BF gameplay with a lick of paint in the end.

Having not played any BF for 9 months or so, I've found I'm not too keen on it anymore.

Yea I quite liked the beta overall, I'm with Lias in the pre-select vehicle spawns, doing it when the vehicle is already there has lost me the vehicle spawn a few times.
I really liked the atmosphere of the beta, it may have many of the same mechanics as other BF games but the feel is different, can't put my finger on a specific thing.

Really love the sound of the guns too, they all sound unique.
