You just admitted to breaking the rules... If you are going to RDM when no admins are on you can expect that this was going to happen.

The admins do understand that players RDM each others in vengeance when they aren't on-line to monitor it. But you left after doing it so of course the admins banned you for mass rdm + leave. If you hadn't left then it would probably be a slay provided the reports swing in your way and you could explain the reasons for RDM but you left for what ever reason that may be.

And yes you will be unbanned...

I did mention that but it's silly for him not to type kill in console when he initially spawned because then the server would have re-spawned him seconds later when round preparation had finished.

It is possible to get into the melon race area if you know how to walk through the teleporter correctly. I doubt many people know how but I have done it on a few occasions and its not a glitch in fact lots of TTT maps have allow you to get into the melon race room it is essentially a cake room. You can also get spawned into that room if you are lucky enough.

But it's best just to type kill into console to save everyone from waiting for the round to end instead of being silly and going afk in a room that is inaccessible for players that do not know how to get in.

Like `Kayne mentioned Get Some’s TTT server is one of the top trouble in terrorist town servers based on popularity and rankings. That being said it's a volatile world the 100 player slot is just to exploit Garry's mods useless server browsing algorithm so it's easier to find.

Whatever happened to Sky Net? Last time I checked we peaked at 52 a pretty significant feat for 1 Garry's Mod server considering the TTT game mode doesn't really support more than 32 while most servers like to sit under 20 and a majority of the maps only have 25 or so spawn points but that's bypassed using some magic trickery.

`Kayne and I discussed expanding out to potentially more game modes but there are so many we just haven't picked out the ones we could make better and start a server for.

That being said `Kayne is a diehard sandbox fan so no doubt he will hate me if I don't get on to setting one up.

We also noted Get Some is lacking Zombies! But I would have thought Left 4 Dead 3 would solve that but I haven't heard any more since the initial image leaks if they were real... Arma 3 Servers seem like they would need someone dedicated to it I do like that Artis life role-play type thing kind of like a giant version of cops and robbers but the map would be ridiculous if it wasn't populated. Garry's mod has allot of zombie game modes even a Dayz spin off called GmodZ and other zombie role play types.

`Kayne and I did see potential in a Garry's Mod Zombie game mode where it's like a team base co-op game with 8 or 16 players the objective is to build the map using sandbox tools then when ready the game continuously spawns Zombie AI that use path-finding to break down your fortress and eat you.

Another very popular Gmod Zombie survival game mode is Zombie Survival were 3 people spawn as zombies and infect other players that then become zombies until everyone is a zombie. Players can barricade up rooms to defend the against the hordes. But from my past experience in the game mode it's very unbalanced if the players all bunch up and build barriers that are near impossible to tear down paired with the fact that your only attack is to scratch against 50 players with m16's it's not exactly fun when that happens.

However TTT still has a few more things to sort out one being Source bans you TF2 guys don't realise how luck you are with your fancy modules that set up in seconds.... Garry's mod updates can completely change everything it also broke Source mod ages ago so we have to rely on 3rd party SQL modules just to connect to the damn database it's self because there's not even an official SQL module nor socketing module. It can be done but there are additional features I want to incorporate so the gmod admins can manage bans more easily. That's kind of top priority for gmod at the moment as it would be extremely useful provided it’s reliable until I finish programming that, hopefully before school holidays I heard for some it's in a week or is for the Aussie's.

I assumed he was talking about the application thread not the one titled DEMOTE, and was a pathetic rant about how he should be unbanned as that was also posted by Lucid but under a different account name.

I never meant for it to sound like a bad idea but you're not the first person to suggest this and has been thought out in great detail in the past. You did ask for opinions and said "Do you think this could work" I simply answered this and thought I would keep you in the loop by letting you know I am considering stat tracking that would be much better than having titles based on time played.

I think Get Some did have a Rust server up but don't quote me on this.

But I can see why it would be removed. It has constant updates that wipe the servers data every-time, it's still an early access game I think, It has multiple exploits, The game is filled with with players using C++ cheats and RUST offers little to no detection at all, the add-on support has been slow, administration tools are weak and from my experience admins just give out supplies to people willy nilly and ruin the game.

So I really don't think anyone can be bothered looking after the RUST server or at least not until the game get's finished if it ever does.

And who's going to control this exactly... I don't see the benefit of a trusted / regular title, while it has been considered more than once and suggested by a few people I can not see it benefiting in anyway. It also seems odd to have a trusted rank it's almost like saying you don't trust them because if you did then wouldn't they be an admin ?

Regular rank I can understand I have coded this to be automatic and add people based on time connected but then abandoned the idea because I decided it was pointless because everyone knows the regulars and as you know the HUD displays information about the players play time when being targeted.

What I personally think is a better idea is to bring a more competitive edge to the game by integrating HLstatsX stats.getsome.co.nz. Unfortunately my understanding is that HLstatsX tracking does not support Garry's mod yet but it also seems like it can be interfaced easily enough even though Garry's mod does not have an official MySQL library however allot of work would still be required to properly track all weapon stats like TF2 does.

I am really keen for the HLstatsX idea and will probably make a start on it when I have more spear time later on in the year. But I do understand not everyone wants TTT to be a competitive gamemode so I am open to suggestions about this and would like to hear if people would be interested in me making it more competitive with more detailed events instead of a simplistic round report.

I think this is on TF2 there was a post yesterday that explained it was a server bug so maybe they are doing something.

The rule is staying as it currently is: Destroying equipment such as the traitor tester is counted as high suspicion only, Do not KOS or RDM if you see someone break the tester.

I understand that it's frustrating when no admins are on the server to deal with situations like this. However most of the admins are busy studying or busy with University / Work commitments. I myself haven't been able to get on much because of this, during the free time I do get I like to spend it writing Lua scripts to improve the server by making custom weapons unique to the server as you probably have seen with the new weapons and maps that have been put on.

Admins will obviously join more often when the Uni rush stops. In the meantime me and Kayne will look at trialling some moderators.

The main problem I see at the moment is admins have to be in game to deal with this, to be able to read the reports and logs and monitor chat and voice spammers.

I am currently working to resolve this by adding remote web based administration support but I don't want to rush that I would rather make a solid system that integrates with the servers current administration tools. And allow viewing of saved reports via a web interface this won’t be done in a day.

But for now it would we really helpful if players actually explained what happened in the RDM report because believe it or not just one TTT round can have a damage-log that spans 100-800 lines long and that's never fun to read even with the server doing that hard job of highlighting events. Most of the time players just say (F@ck Sh*t C*nt rdming piece of sh*t) that's really not helpful when trying to find out what happened especially when the reported players reply is equal to or even worse. And what I struggle to understand is why do people do that in the reports only the admins read them and it gets on are nerves when people say stuff like that. I have thought about making the server send the reported players reply to the victim but I think it would do more harm than good.

Here's a perfect example from tonight a player shoots at a player at the start of the round, the player then finds the player that had originally shot and kills the player. The player reports the RDM with a nice abusive message looking at the logs it would appears as if the victim was right however the detailed response saying that the player had shot earlier justified it and the logs backed the claim so the report was waved.

Sorry the map looked good so I did not bother to test it with bots first like I usually do. So I was not aware that the spawns worked like that. And clearly that map is not going to work on our server because there are to many people and not enough spawns and the environment is to cramped to work as a successful TTT map.

I have removed the map, provided that the Lua refresh happens it should not be in the map vote for next map change.

That's a hard question to answer. Garry's mod is still a successful game however like all games as it aged and got updated it got progressively worse with each update breaking more than it fixes. It's really up to you. Inside Garry's mod there are lots of player created gamemodes the popular ones Dark RP, Trouble In Terrorist Town, Deathrun / Bhop, small fretta gamemodes, mini games, 20+ Role-play gamemodes, to many to count team death match game modes, DayZ spin-offs / Zombie survival, sandbox mode, Cinema (Pointless) then there are the game modes were you really have to question what drug the person was on when he bashed away on his keyboard to create the most buggy Lua script ever invented but it somehow works.

I must admit all the You Tube videos of Garry's mod make it look like shit probably because in some cases that's true. But then again You Tube if often blamed for the downfall of Garry's mod and other games by the Machinima channels that attract the autistic kids to play but the ban hammer does its best to squash them.  Also note that a majority of the You Tube videos of Garry's mod are whiny Americans playing on Dark Rp were the admins are borderline retarded and fly around the map just because they can, advice stay the hell away from DarkRp. But there's plenty of stuff to explore. Some of the more famous modders are still around and come up with some epic items but at a much slower rate modding as a community has also slowed, due to people that charge each other for even the most basic of scripts.

In short there will be a game mode that you will enjoy it depends on what style and genre of games you like to play because Garry's mod just about has it all and if you don’t find something you like then there’s nothing more fun than messing with Source Engine and designing your own models or scripting AI.

Maybe the vote percentage needed to kick needs to be increased so legitimate players don't get kicked or banned falsely, but then you also have to problem of it being set to high to kick a cheater if people vote against the kick. Seems like it would be hard to balance the amount of votes needed for a successful kick. Unless the vote percentage increases by said amount so more people have to vote kick the player. That way people are more likely to check the players stats if the vote fails the first time, and then vote again if they believe the player is cheating.
