Has anyone played the Close Combat games? Really good WW2 strategy games based on specific campaigns. Controlled squads via a top down via and every soldier's progress was tracked throughout the campaigns. They also had conditions affecting them in battle, whether they were tired, scared, suppressed or injured and the vehicles and various damage conditions as well. You had to be really careful when moving forward, lest you move a squad into a field covered by MG squads or drive a tank round a corner, straight into an AT gun. I'd love a modern remake of those.

Research has found that though lesbians are much more attracted to the female form, most women who say they are straight are in fact aroused by videos of both naked men and naked women.

I'm aroused by videos with both naked men and naked women in them. I guess I must be bisexual.

Well, I've been enjoying Destiny so far. Maybe that's because I've been playing it between other games and I'm not burning through the content. Only just completed the story quests last night while hitting level 40. Now to get into the dailies and after story quests.

Brought a sweet looking helmet with wings from Xur on the weekend, for when I hit 40.

Ignore the rest of the gear, needs a bit of work. Also leveling Voidwalker for the class quest but usually play Sunsinger.

I've decided to give the expansion a try. I'm picking it up tonight.

I did like some changes made in the last DLC when I gave it a go, but it still wasn't totally up to scratch. I hope the internet is not lying to me that the expansion is much better. I would like Bungie to add matchmaking for raids though. Don't have enough friends on PS4 to play with.

I've been keeping up with what I can and I'm waiting on reviews, but most of what I've seen makes it sounds fairly bland. Just a bunch of trending game elements thrown into a Mad Max-esque open world.

Mafia 2 was one of the few games that was way better than I expected. It was like playing through Goodfellas. Hopefully they make the open world a bit more meaningful this time.

... they can stay inside and play with real Lego.

Soon enough kids are going to be able to play Minecraft like they would real Lego, with something like Hololens set up on the floor.

For most of this year there has been people standing at the entrance to the Adelaide train station during the afternoon peak period when everyone's heading home, trying to collection donations for one charity or the other. Once or twice every now and then I could just fob them off, no worries, but I have to try and walk past them 2 or 3 days a week. I just want to get home, get out the way bitch!

On the other hand, my PS4 version runs flawlessly and looks great.

Begone dirty console peasant, this thread is for the glorious PC master race.

I'm a mixed race peasant, shunned by everyone, never fitting in.

My PC really needs an upgrade. Too old to run this, though I probably would've got the console version anyway as I prefer 3rd person games with controllers and on my TV. I realise I can set this up through my PC, but I'm too lazy.

User reviews should never really be considered on their own. It's always the most vocal people, either for or against something, that will feel the need to post something. I've read varying comments and there are a lot of people saying it works fine for them. Some of the issues seem to come when you change the max FPS setting, in which case you're not really using the product as intended.

On the other hand, my PS4 version runs flawlessly and looks great.

Haha, 55km?

55,000 miles?

That's 55 times the amount of miles I would walk to be the man that falls down at your door.

So, ton of news from E3 for Fallout 4.

  • Out in November.
  • Story starts just before the war starts, enter a vault at the start of the game.
  • Protagonist has a voice.
  • Will be able to build bases with customised buildings. Build structures and defenses around the bases.
  • Weapons and armour have a ton of customisation options.
  • Collectors Edition with Pipboy that runs a Pipboy ap. Ap also available on mobile when the game comes out and connects to game.
  • Fallout mobile game where you build vaults which is already out, but only for iPhone at the moment.

Plus there was some good vision of gameplay. Fuck it, I'm hyped now.

Hearts of Iron 3 is 75% at $2.50 and I've had it on my Wishlist for ages after getting into other Paradox strategy games, but I know if I get it I'll never set aside the time time to fully get into it and will only ever give it a cursory glance.

What's the state of the game at the moment?

Fallout 3 was a decent open world game, but it never really felt like Fallout to me. New Vegas was a lot better in that regards, but that was done by Obsidian so I'm going to keep my hype in check until I can see if 4 will be more like 3 or New Vegas.

I didn't finish Fallout 3. It didn't really feel like a Fallout game. A decent game in it's own right, but I just couldn't get through it. New Veags was a lot better in that regard. I hope Fallout 4 is in the same vein as New Vegas.

I got it for PS4 as I need to upgrade my PC as well. Played for about 7-8 hours and only just got out of the 'tutorial' area. Visuals are good but it does drop frames here and there, mostly in cutscenes. Controls are a bit touchy too and take a bit of getting used to. The world is wonderfully detailed though, from the environment to the back stories you pick up as you explore. Finding out why a village was destroyed by a local Lord after clearing the ruins of a Wraith of a woman killed on her wedding day really brings life to the world.

They've integrated the decisions from Witcher 2 into the PS4 version nicely, since it wasn't on PS. You get an interrogation at the end of the 'tutorial' area where you get to make the major choices from that game. I played a good portion of Witcher 2 but never got round to completing it, so I made the choices I could remember I made before and winged it from there.

GTA V / Re: GTA V PC

Playing single player here and there and the more I do, the more I remember how much I came to hate it when I first got GTA5 for my PS3.The story is just so uninteresting and all the characters are grating, except for Franklin who is nothing.

On the other hand, I'm enjoying multiplayer more than I did before.

Does it also function as a lunch box?

'Cos that would be cool.

I don't think it's that hard to imagine a Steam user not having spent $5 actually on the store. There are plenty of games sold through retail that come with Steam and if you have a shitty connection, your primary mode of buying games would still be retail. I still prefer to buy retail for that reason, at least for the large games, and only buy through Steam when there's a big enough gap on the store to be worth waiting on the download.

But I guess Valve know the numbers on how many legit accounts have spent more than $5 and how many haven't and they know they're not affecting a whole lot of legit accounts to try and stop the phishers.

GTA V / Re: GTA V PC

I had a bit of trouble getting the game to run last night, but once I fixed the game ran pretty well. Went through the prologue then transferred my PS3 character easily. First person view is neat, if a little small on the FOV. Probably stick with third person in multiplayer for the better view of surroundings.

I suckered myself into buying this again, mostly for the first person mode and the larger multiplayer.

6 days should be enough to download it on my shitty Australian internet.

General Chat / Re: GabeN telling us how it is..

I remember GabeN also reporting that the Valve team were absolutely sick of working on Half Life. That they had been run into the ground with the amount of titles they had pumped out and it was beginning to show.

If you count up the amount of versions, there's a shit-ton:

Half Life
Half Life: Opposing Force
Half Life: Blue Shift
Half Life: Decay
Half Life: Counter-Strike
Half Life 2
Half Life 2: Deathmatch
Half Life 2: Lost Coast
Half Life 2: Episode 1
Half Life 2: Episode 2

And then there's Counter-Strike Source and Counter-Strike: Global Operations.

I remember reading the Half Life expansions were done by other developers. Pretty sure Gearbox did one, at least.

I'm not entirely sure I care about a Half Life 3 being released any more, but I do need something, anything, to complete the story from the end of Episode 2.

Sandbox / Cities: Skylines
« on: March 20, 2015, 12:12:21 pm »
I have kind of gotten obsessed with this since it came out last week. Good city building game along the lines of Sim City (the older versions anyway). It has a few flaws, a big one being it can be easy after you've got a small city started up. Challenges really only come from you're own miss-management, like accidentally pumping polluted water into the city because you've put a water pump down stream from a water outlet.

Here's the start of my first city. Only 7k population at the moment and just unlocked the denser zoning, so it's only small housing, commercial buildings and industry at the moment.
