So had the scooter challenge in the weekend.... Great times, very funny although I can tell you for sure the novelty of riding a scooter wears off after about 20 mins. You end up stiff and sore after a couple of hours and my back was killing me the next day. This however could be attributed to trying to get into a racers tuck to try slipstream other bikes which is epic fun (especially with 85 scooters).
Hey Team, (aka fuckers, teehee I can't help it, it's a naughty word)
We are heading away tomorrow morning at the crack of dawn, thanks to all those who have donated to the cause. Weather is forecast for shitty rain and strong winds so we are super psyched about it. Its not too late to dontate, click the linky in the top post.
I have included a picture of our "fleet" for your viewing pleasure.
A little embarrassing, the lap timer may have come with a permanent power source feed..... oh dear....... thanks anyways guy, nice to see what products are on the market.....
I have a kit for a rear reservoir if anybody wants it.
Its tygon tubing with a cap.
Designed to get rid of the big reservoir on your rear brake.
PM me with photo and price plz! Is it the chemical resistant hose? What is the ID of the hose? Also where did you get the tygon, I have tried a couple of places but they only sell in like 70 meter rolls.
His bike will have a 5VDC wire we can splice into.
either wire that sucker in or I can wire a usb plug straight on when you're up for the next race.
Cheers but I will probs go with the 12v route as the 5v signals on a bike are usually from sensors and I don't want to interrupt any signals too and from them.
Will you be riding this weekend? What lap times are you at these days?
USB is 5V, whereas the battery on your bike is 12V so you will need a DC to DC converter between the two (such as a USB cigarette lighter charger) otherwise you will fry your lap timer
Hey team, I have a lap timer on my track bike that needs charged via Mini USB which is a pain to either remove the lap timer to charge or park it close enough to get a power source into it. What I wan't to do is hook it up to the bike so it is charging full time. Hence I need to find a cable that would allow such an operation. I have considered sacrificing a general USB cable and soldering it into the loom, however I don't know which wires are power and earth (also lap timer is expensive and don't mind spending to get the correct gear to run it. Has anyone come across something like this? I had a quick google on the internet machine but could only come up with cigarette type chargers, which would work but I would rather have a more compact unit. that doesn't look like balls.
See Right hand item in the image for the type I am talking about.
Don't you love how the Chinese rocket and platform looks stereo-typically what you would expect it to look like, meanwhile the Japanese one is typically clean, sleak and efficient looking as you would expect.
The big issue with these new boats is the cost is keeping competitors from entering. How many syndicates had to pull out from this series as the cost just kept climbing and they couldn't bring in enough sponsorship to keep going? I feel a good challenger series needs at least 8 teams with it being a fairly even battle for the top 3 or 4.
Lucky our Govt props this up as it is very important govt work.
The boats are fricken awesome but the regatta needs more handlebar moustache and red sox tbh
I use thees outfits for stuff for my massive printers. Could be worth looking through. I use inks that chew through certain plastics so have to have specific tubing.
Anyone know where to get hold of this stuff in NZ, I am specifically after Tygon 2375 (or something with the same chemical resistant properties) with an ID of 5/16. Its not for cpu cooling but to be used as a clear brake fluid hose on a motorbike. Any help or ideas would be most grateful.
Our workplace has entered to be part of the Southern Scooter Challenge. What is the southern scooter challenge you say?
Well we will be riding 50cc scooters from Bluff to Queenstown to raise money to go towards the prostate cancer foundation (much to the dismay of others on the road, "Yay 100 50cc scooters to pass" i hear you scream!) It is about 220kms, we leave at 830am and arrive about 3pm, saddle sores and all.
Anyway, it should be a blast and as I say it is a good cause.
