Seriously people, if you can work a camera i expect you to be able to resize a photo. Not only does it make your photo a lot easier to take in it increases the quality.

Thanks for the nice comment. My son is 8 and I'm sure when I show him what you said he will be so happy as he wants to do photography when he is older :)

does anyone else get the feeling that digital photography gives the masses the ability to shoot statistically, rather than skillfully?

"if I take 300 photos of the same thing then chances are one of them will look good"

as opposed to

"I have 24 shots, better use them wisely."

and then a lot of people still manage to produce a whoooole heap of crap, unfortunately.

The thing that irked me the most was a common scenario I came across working in a camera store,

Rich bitch comes in with her brand new canon 400D, excalaims about how she's been around the world taking photos.

they're all blurred, underexposed, poorly composed, washy, shit.

she blames me for the under exposure, after admiting that she didnt really know how to use all the cameras features, that she'd just played with it till it took a nice photo and away she went all over europe....with the same settings....she made me stand there at the kiosk, and brighten every one of her 300 photos, when I said "look, I've got a customer who nee-" "oh I'll tell your Boss....oh yes I know your boss quite well...."

the photos printed off washed out, and what's worse is she had a fucking loyalty card that essentially halved my comission....that's right....same work load, the company loses nothing because the "margins" aren't actual.

Another customer I had was this lady who was shotting on some crappy sont cybershot....her photos were breath taking, beautifully composed, lit, timed, etc, I asked why she wasn't shooting on a DSLR, she said she couldn't afford one. I felt sad.

yay for communism in photography.

edit: typing on PS3, even with a keyboard, is not fun.

Try shrinking those images.

What on earth is the last one anyway? I couldn't find a focused point anywhere, just a huge mess of blur.

Yeah my flatmate told me a similar story yesterday (he sells cameras for a living), they had some customer who called themself a 'professional', bought a 5dmk2 and didn't know how to use it properly...and produced fail. Sigh.

lol throw every book at them and they'll think they're pro!!

What erks me is people don't have an appreciation for film photography.  It is far more difficult to achieve stunning photos with film, and people take Dslr for granted!

Don't get me wrong though,  Dslr has their own place in the artistic world, and ads.

But you dont really need a dslr to take nice photos. Its not really about the camera its still about the photographer.

Where do you work by the way?

tag-o-rama

neat game motorcyclists are playing atm, OP posts their bike infront of a landmark or historical feature, then it's a race to see who can mimick the photo with their bike and post it, if it's correct they then post up the next tag.

kinda like geo-hashing.

we were late with this one, but i just got the latest tag on my own ^_^

Shit, sorry. Didn't realise that would happen. Spoilered.

Turns out pictures look far worse when they are at full size. Will scale down this weekend when I have time.

Mass of blur happens to be sand. Although, once again, looks like shit so close.

EDIT: actually uploaded wrong pic + never got round to resizing. sigh...

when i used to prewire appartments.  i used to write on the ceiling messages to my mates, and pixt them.   i wonder if the tenants ever see them.  either way, its covered by the gib but its memory is preserved for ever :D

i got in trouble for writing stuff like daniel eats beans  on the actual cables.  then i'd tell them, " the daniel eats beans wire is the Feed."
