Recently picked up an Asus RT-AC87U Router, and having trouble getting it to connect to the current Spark HG630b modem+router. Have gone through the basic setup process step by step to no avail. Either I'm missing something crucial, or it can't be done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have it mostly sorted, as in, it will connect to the internet. Now just need to figure out how to change the HG630b from a modem+router, to just be the modem, so the Asus can take over the routing duties.

lol sounds like both are serving DHCP into the network which will cause no end of issues, i dont think you can decouple the telecom modem / router they are so shitty and basic..

I managed it with a linksys as my secondary router and the telecom pos serving dns and dhcp.

So this is what I picked up yesterday. Turns out I actually had the cable between the modem and the router in the wrong port on the modem, all sorted now. Just need to do what you said sannz and assign the different rolls to the modem, and the router.

You should plug a patch cable into port 1 of the router, and the other end into port 2.

It makes your internet go faster
