Title: Is this big news? - Or do we not care?
Post by: .osiRiS on February 05, 2014, 08:59:18 pm

New CEO of Microsoft - Satya Nadella. I can't say I cared much for the other guy before him , Steve Ballmer? Apart from some funny youtube clips he didn't really stand out. Will this new guy be any better? Can he save Windows 8?

Or do we just not care anymore?

I cant even use windows 8 for more than 5 minutes before getting so angry with it i start yelling at the machine. Nothing can save Windows 8 now imo

I just don't see the problems with windows 8. Turn it on and in 5 seconds I am at my desktop.

^This. No issue with 8 at all. Feels like a faster 7

I honestly prefer 8 over 7 now.

I don't see MS being any different with Satay Nutella is at helm.

I was on 7, got 8, everything is faster, never use metro or whatever it is called I just boot direct to desktop.

I think most people would think I was on 7 if they looked.

I'm using Windows 8 for home and work, definitely an improvement over 7 once you get rid of metro. What really pisses me off is why they put that metro shit in Server 2012, really screws up the muscle memory.

Same here, love windows 8, super fast.

Windows 8 doesn't need saving.

Steve Ballmer did stand out, though not always in the best way.

This new guy looks like a good choice.

Windows 8. Its an improvement when you remove the only thing that makes it different from Windows 7.

I think I'll stick with an OS that works. Like Mavericks. Or hell, I'll take Elementary OS over any Windows version any day.

What, remove the speed improvements?

It's faster. Kinda.

Have you ever used it on a consumer entry level machine?

It's ok on good hardware, with someone who knows how to drive it and knows how windows works.

It's not good on a "I know nothing about computers" consumer level with bottom of the barrel hardware...

Oh why so rude   :)

Intel does such well so amaze these days.

I would like to challenge someone who is anti-mac/sceptical to use nothing but a retina MacBook for a year. I'll provide the computer, and your bring your A game level for an honest review.

So OSX is easy, it does just work

Until you want to change your screen resolution to something other than one of the four apple has gifted you. Then you have to buy an app.

Want to snap applications to various parts of the screen? App.

Want to change the direction the scroll gesture works in? App.

OSX genuinely fills the gap of people who aren't computer-people enough for windows, and that's ok.

It's ok cause you can dual boot windows.

Microsoft need to to stop trying to cater to that not-computer-people market and stick with what they know. I'll always develop on windows, maybe linux if the fancy takes me.

As of a few hours ago :P

480MB Patch too... Surely they would've released it standalone so everyone could download it ASAP.

-_-

Was a pretty good fuck up. Be interesting to if the source of the discovery is released (it's not Apple otherwise they would've claimed it)

I am happy to have my feet in both pools, I have a gaming PC, a 27"imac for photo and print work and a MBP for photo work on the go.
