Server Bans & Complaints / Admin Complaints *READ BEFORE POSTING*
« on: October 08, 2016, 11:21:51 am »
Our admins and moderators have the right to slay/mute/gag/kick/etc you at any time, for any reason.  They can ban you for a variety of reasons as well, and the only people they need to justify it to are more senior admins.

If you are coming to complain because you were slayed/muted/gagged/kicked don't even bother, you WILL be ignored.

If you are coming to appeal a ban, then make sure you follow these simple instructions.

  • Use punctuation, grammar, paragraphs, etc.
  • Be polite and respectful at all times.
  • Explain how you see the situation as objectively as possible.
  • Demo's/recording are good.
  • Remember we have chat logs.
  • Don't lie or exaggerate.

We'll be swooping in on MegaWeb internet cafe on Hobson Street, Auckland CBD for a weekend of both social and competitive gaming and tournaments from 6pm Friday, April 15 right through to prizegiving at midday on Sunday 17 April. Our awesome sponsors have kicked in a bunch of prizes and treats for our Lanners and we've got some new tournaments for you to jump into and get your names onto our Hall of Fame. Once again, we are very happy to have Aspect of Gaming onboard to ensure the tournaments run smoothly.

Tickets are on sale now at www.aucklan.com for $30 until midnight April 13 then door sales will be available at $35. Our new ticketing system is in place complete with bookable seat map so you can choose your seats and sit with your gaming mates thanks to the constant hard work on our beautiful site by Excel Studios. We have space to increase capacity beyond what is on the seat map on our website too once the first seats fill up.

General Chat / Steam Sale Thread (Xmas 2015 / Jan 2016)
« on: December 23, 2015, 02:30:20 pm »
What are people buying, what are the must haves, etc etc.

What I've grabbed so far:

Darkest Dungeon - NZ$ 11.99
Darkest Dungeon is a challenging gothic roguelike turn-based RPG about the psychological stresses of adventuring.
Recruit, train, and lead a team of flawed heroes through twisted forests, forgotten warrens, ruined crypts, and beyond. You'll battle not only unimaginable foes, but stress, famine, disease, and the ever-encroaching dark. Uncover strange mysteries, and pit the heroes against an array of fearsome monsters with an innovative strategic turn-based combat system.

Warhammer 40,000: Regicide - NZ$ 12.05
Regicide is a brutal take on one of the greatest turn based strategy games of all time. The game fuses multiple phases of combat with dynamic action. Manoeuvre your army into place and unleash a devastating array of tactical abilities to crush your enemies

Besiege - NZ$ 6.99
Besiege is a physics based building game in which you construct medieval siege engines and lay waste to immense fortresses and peaceful hamlets. Build a machine which can crush windmills, wipe out battalions of brave soldiers and transport valuable resources, defending your creation against cannons, archers and whatever else the desperate enemies have at their disposal. Create a trundling behemoth, or take clumsily to the skies, and cause carnage in fully destructible environments. Ultimately, you must conquer every Kingdom by crippling their castles and killing their men and livestock, in as creative or clinical a manner as possible!

Mad Max - NZ$ 25.15
Become Mad Max, the lone warrior in a savage post-apocalyptic world where cars are the key to survival. In this action-packed, open world, third person action game, you must fight to stay alive in The Wasteland, using brutal on-ground and vehicular against vicious gangs of bandits. A reluctant hero with an instinct for survival, Max wants nothing more than to leave the madness behind and find solace in the storied “Plains of Silence.” Players are challenged with treacherous missions as they scavenge the dangerous landscape for supplies to build the ultimate combat vehicle.

ANNOUNCING THE EA COMPETITIVE GAMING DIVISION, LED BY PETER MOORE
FROM ANDREW WILSON

For many of you, the passion for games is defined by competition – a relentless focus on being the best, and leaving your mark on the games you love.  It fuels many of the amazing things we see from millions of you playing EA games each day.  As this passion continues to grow, we’re committed to creating even more opportunities for you to connect and compete.

Today I am excited to announce that Peter Moore is moving into a new role as Executive Vice President and Chief Competition Officer for Electronic Arts, leading our new EA Competitive Gaming Division (CGD).  As the latest step in our journey to put our players first, this group will enable global eSports competitions in our biggest franchises including FIFA, Madden NFL, Battlefield and more.  The CGD will be built around three core pillars:

·         Competition – To create highly-engaging competitive experiences with our games, officially supported by Electronic Arts.

·         Community – To celebrate, connect and grow our community of players across all levels of expertise.

·         Entertainment – To develop live events and broadcasting that bring the spectacle of competition to millions of people around the world.

There is no one better in our industry to lead this new effort than Peter.  He was an early pioneer in championing competitive gaming programs, such as the FIFA Interactive World Cup and the EA SPORTS Challenge Series, and Peter’s personal passions for the player experience, sports and competition, make him a tremendous leader for this new division.   Peter’s team will partner with our development studios, marketers and publishing teams to bring this new platform to life.

We’re also delighted to have Todd Sitrin joining Peter in the role of Senior Vice President and GM of the CGD.  Todd is an EA veteran, whose distinguished 14-year career here has included leading our global marketing teams as well as driving marketing and strategy for EA SPORTS.  Todd will lead strategy and operations for the CGD, working closely with our development studios to create an exciting competitive platform in our games.

As Peter and Todd begin these critical roles, we are focused on both delivering our commitments for FY16 as well as putting great energy behind this new opportunity.  Peter will continue to lead his current organization through the end of FY16 before shifting full time to his new position.  We will share further details about the CGD in the coming months.

Competition runs deep in the DNA of Electronic Arts, and our games are already at the center of competitive gaming events at different levels today.  FIFA fans around the world continue to compete in the FIFA Interactive World Cup, ESL One is hosting worldwide championships with Battlefield 4, we recently announced the return of the Madden NFL Live Challenge, and our games will be played in dozens of other regional competitions around the world in the next year.  EA’s CGD will seek to build a best-in-class program to centralize our efforts with new events, as well as the infrastructure to bring you the world’s preeminent EA competitive experiences.

The formation of the Competitive Gaming Division is a groundbreaking opportunity for Electronic Arts to celebrate your passion for play and competition.  I’m excited to see what Peter and the team will share in the months ahead.

This kindles a small spark of hope for the future of competitive BF..

Other Games / Remake/Sequel Wish List
« on: November 06, 2015, 08:12:19 am »
With so many old games being released as "Enhanced Editions" or remade, or sequels released, I thought I'd start a "wish list" thread where we can discuss games we'd like to see remade or sequels made.

So what game(s) or IP would you most like to see remade or another game in the series.

This technology has me excited in the pants.

tl;dr DX12, if the game supports it, lets you run multiple GPU's without SLI/Crossfire.. E.g. an AMD and NVIDIA card.

TACTICAL ‘MECH
COMBAT RETURNS TO THE PC.

Harebrained Schemes is pleased to announce their return to Kickstarter this Fall to partner with Backers in co-funding the creation of BATTLETECH. Jordan Weisman, the creator of BattleTech and MechWarrior, is back with the first turn-based BattleTech game for PC in over two decades. Steeped in the feudal political intrigue of the BattleTech universe, the game will feature an open-ended Mercenaries-style campaign that blends RPG ‘Mech and MechWarrior management with modern turn-based tactics.

Not much info out yet, coming to KickStarter in a few months.

OMFG SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY / JIZZ IN MY PANTS!

TL;DR, Some guys have started a steam group with the aim of breathing life back into older multiplayer games that noone plays anymore. Pretty cool idea if you ask me.

Technology & Hardware / PCGamer busts some myths around gaming mice
« on: May 21, 2015, 08:21:21 am »
http://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-mouse-myths-busted/

  • Optical mice are better than laser mice.
  • When a mouse performs differently at different speeds, that’s a problem called “acceleration.”
  • Higher DPI is better.
  • Wired gaming mice are faster and more accurate than wireless.
  • Your Windows mouse sensitivity setting needs to be set to 6 out of 11.
  • The MX 518 is still the best gaming mouse ever made.
  • Putting a piece of tape over half the sensor is a good way to decrease lift-off distance.

Found this an interesting read, thought some of you lot might appreciate it.
