Ok,
so this is a fairly common question amongst the Lee Child fans. I've read numerous interviews of Lee Child, this question is asked in ALL of them.
If you don't know who Jack Reacher is, please leave... Your opinion is not valid!
Nah seriously, for those that haven't read any Jack Reacher novels, I suggest you go out and buy Killing Floor, it's the first Jack Reacher novel and is extremely graphic.
Anyway, I was first thinking Tom Beringer, Xtinct rightly pointed out he's too small. I then saw a photo of him from 2007 and he's a pie now.
But the face of Tom B from Sniper is what I picture. Lee Child reckons a younger Clint Eastwood, even he isn't big enough.
Oh btw, your responses will go completely un-noticed, in fact, if you think about it too much, you'll probably be disappointed when a movie is FINALLY made and its not the person you think will suit the role... (Killing Floor was initially in pre-production stages but was dropped for some reason).

Haha - I remember seeing one of the books under your computer, and went wow you read Jack Reacher as well..!!!
My wife and I have thought long and hard about this, and the answer is - there isn't an answer.
It would have to be someone new and completely unknown.
Think about it for a minute. This guy is BIG - 6' 5" and about 240 pounds of solidness. And there are no actors around that big who could do him justcie. Plus you have his age - 40 something in the first one IIRC, so this narrows it down even more.
As Ben says - if you haven't read it, go read it. NOW.
Oh and one more thing - you don't mess with Jack Reacher...!!!!

I think you're right. I dont think there is someone out there that is big, but not on roids, who can act.

I agree, it will be hard to find someone to play a ~40 year old, 6' 5" 240lb ex Military Cop.
Also, the fact that in almost every book he tends to 'seduce' females with his nonchalant manner makes me think they will need an actor who can convey his 'strong & silent' charisma which IMHO will be hard to find!

Probably hard to find in the current a-list which would be good for emerging talent. I don't think it improbable, just unknown until they do castiong I guess.

Isn't the guy on the right the whatchamicallit soldier from X-Files, and Hercules from Fearless? He'd make a good Umibozu for CityHunter

THE ROCK!!!!!!! He is actually pretty awesome when he plays it straight.
Perhaps an ex grid iron player. There really aren't a great deal of actual giants around.

Daz was born in Liverpool, England. Having a disrupted childhood and broken family Daz turned something negative in his young life to a positive and successful career in sports. He joined the Royal Air Force and through his training he learned teamed work and sportsmanship. Crawford traveled extensively in the Royal Air Force including the Falkland Islands, Germany and the Desert Storm Campaign. He became successful playing National League Basketball (UK) and becoming ranked 10th in the world as an amateur boxer. He was then invited to join the Seoul Olympic Team representing England.
Daz later found his father and began a personal and challenging journey reuniting with his father. After the death of his father he returned to London and started a modeling career. As an extra in film he got the acting bug and took part in drama workshops challenging his emotions and found a new Daz Crawford. He studied at the "Madder Market Theatre" in Norwich England and then onto the "Actors Centre" in London and currently studying at the "LA Actors Centre" the "Meisner Technique".
Daz has done numerous commercial campaigns including Farberge, cast as UK Gladiator (Diesel) for television with producer of Amercian Idol Ken Warick. With a household name Crawford was cast in the James Bond Film "The World Is Not Enough". Some other credits include "Attila The Hun" for USA Network, and major role in Wesley Snipe's Blade 2. continuing to work in the UK as requested Daz loves the art and channels his positive force into charity work for the under privileged children guiding them off the streets and into sports and theater art.
Wow. He isn't "beefcake" though.

Agreed on the Cruise thing but Cena comes over as a bit of duh imo, yeah Reaches a hard arse, former United States Army Military Police Corps major etc but he still has brains with the brawn. Vin Diesel or better still the English actor Jason Statham

He isn't the size reacher is portrayed as in th book, but i don't think there is anyone anywhere who fits the bill. But i think he suits everywhere else. Issue with Tom cruise is that reacher is a brawler, from what I saw they've turned him I to Jason Bourne.

Whoever the choice was, they had to be a great actor. They would have killed the series before it even started by putting a body builder in or someone who can't act. There gone with a good actor who doesn't physically fit the bill. Those pics above look to be body builders, reacher never did weights, he was just big.
