The best thing about Finance Minister Bill English\'s latest Budget is that it does finally signal a much greater role for the private sector in the New Zealand economy. And another step along the way to extract this country from the political cul-de-sac in which Helen Clark\'s Labour Government parked us.

I see they've got another small run of tickets on sale on Monday.

Lloyd Cole playing in ChCh!

You can take all your modern loud and abrasive shit where volume > quality, all the mosh pits of disgust and alternative uniformity . Give me a real musician who has stood the test of time and has put out, consistently, some of the best songs of the past two + decades.

That's right, Lloyd Cole is playing in Christchurch - minus the Commotions - and playing from his back catalogue to include such beauties as 'Lost Weekend', 'Are you ready to be Heartbroken' and cetera.

We have our tickets already. This WILL be the gig of the year :rnr:

DIMMER

When: Fri, 16 Oct 09
Doors open: 8:00 pm

Sammys, Dunedin.

Tickets $16

Quote
Dimmer take their new album Degrees of Existence back to the streets in October. The band take on their first southern dates of the season as well as Dimmer’s first foray over the Harbour Bridge in many years.

And Shayne Carter has upped the ante by putting together a ridiculously tasty line-up of bands for these shows.

First up at the Masonic in Devonport on 10 October, Dimmer are joined by The Naked and Famous. Dimmer last played on the Shore many years back to a crowd of knitting nanas at a Labour Party conference. This will be different.

In Dunedin on Friday 16 October, supports are the ferocious Mountaineater and youngsters Brains, who we may as well call the Bored Games of the moment.

In Christchurch the following night it’s a rare treat as the Dead C join Dimmer at Al’s Bar.

And on their return to Auckland at Bacco on Saturday 24 October, James Duncan will be showcasing his brand new band and tunes from his outstanding Hello-fi album.

MASONIC TAVERN – SATURDAY 10 OCTOBER
SAMMYS – FRIDAY 16 OCTOBER
SATURDAY 17 OCTOBER – AL’S BAR
SATURDAY 24 OCTOBER - BACCO ROOM

Tickets on sale Friday 18th September from Undertheradar.co.nz, Dimmer.co.nz and Cosmic Corner (Dunedin & Chch only).

Jim Beam Homegrown is back in Wellington - Saturday Feb 20th

This time around the good friends at Jim Beam have stepped up, providing genuine support for Kiwi music and helping us bring you the best possible line-up. And 2010 will be nothing less than the best.

The first announcement is pretty solid and we've still got plenty more to throw in the mix including BIG acts for both the Rock and Dub & Roots stages.

11:00am - 22nd Sept

All 2,500 early bird tickets have SOLD OUT in just over 24 hours

FIRST LINE-UP ANNOUNCEMENT

The Feelers  The Black Seeds
Midnight Youth  Salmonella Dub
The Datsuns  Katchafire
The Mint Chicks  Opensouls
The Checks Ladi6
Liam Finn Minuit
Pluto  Aural Trash
Luger Boa Antiform
Goodnight Nurse Dick Johnson
Dane Rumble Tim Phin
Cut Off Your Hands
 Nick D
Bang Bang Eche  Sunshine Soundsystem
Motocade Manuel Bundy

Tickets

Last year 2,500 early bird tickets sold out in a week, this year they sold out in just over 24 hours.

Last year the entire festival sold out six weeks early, this year it's looking like it will sell out much quicker.

So if you're keen, get in early because tickets are genuinely limited and for two years in a row lots of people have missed out by waiting too long!

Tickets are on sale now from Ticketek ($90 + booking fee)

New Layout
In 2010 we're bringing you a new site layout with more room, better facilities and a lot more lush grass areas. We'll hit you back with more info once we get the site map loaded in October.

Would like to go, but Christmas Eve...wtf. And besides, they're not as good as they used to be. I do miss the 'purity' or whatever you want to call it that they displayed in Supersystem.
