Want to move my media server to the cloud because streaming things off local spinning HDDs is a pain when more than one person wants to access it. Also, my mITX only has so many HDD slots and USB slots.
Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced cloud storage provider? Have looked at Google and want to have a go at the free trial but they are being scumlords and ask for a CC right off the bat with an excuse of "we need to make sure you're a real person". Fuck off, you don't need my CC details to make sure I'm a real person, you just want to bill me the day the free trial period ends.

Azure

Ah, turns out I don't really need cloud per say, just basic storage (DropBox, Google Drive etc..)
DropBox seems to be the cheapest at $15 for unlimited.
-
Ugh - DropBox's business plan which clearly states 'unlimited' isn't' unlimited. According to reviews, it tops out at 5TB and then you have to purchase more licenses.
Sucky. Might have to try and look into better local storage options. Was hoping for a cloud option so I can stream outside of my network without relying on my ISP's horse-shit upload speed.

tried Mega?

You can get it, just expect to pay for it.

Turns out Plex's Cloud Sync (what I'll be using) doesn't support sync'ing your entire library to a cloud service anyway, just portions so it looks like I'll be fine with either Google Drive or DropBox in the end :)

Onedrive is unlimited with an office 365 sub. Not sure if it is any good for streaming though.

Onedrive is great for backing up data and photos. It's relatively cheap too, but it's very slow I find. Can't imagine it would be any good for streaming.

OneDrive will have somewhere in fine print "unlimited isn't actually unlimited".

I don't recall them having any unlimited plans. I pay $3 per month for about 500GB space, and since my needs were different I didn't look into bandwidth restrictions.
Do you think you'd even stream 5TB per month? Like, a whole house would have trouble chewing through that, surely? What sort of quality is your library?

What sort of quality is your Spank Bank?

5TB of storage, not streaming.

Yeah, that's gonna cost ya. Rent server space.
not a fucking vpn, my brain farted.
For what it's worth, I delete stuff as soon as I've watched it. If I need it again I'll get it again. About two years ago I realised I was paying so much for storage I didn't need.
