I remember one year for Christmas I got a 56k modem I connected it to my PC on COM1 and installed the drivers off the floppy disk.. and.. it wouldn't work
The guy from the Xtraville helpdesk spent his Christmas afternoon helping me re-install Windows95 and clicking "Replace anyway" on these popup boxes (which of course is now obvious to me that some of the networking system files had been 'updated' and some hadn't so they just didn't work.. so they all needed replacing to be the same version)
Later in the afternoon I was able to search Yahoo for.. well.. what do you use the internet for when you have never had it before?

So.. I have this rather annoying request at some workplace, to make Internet Explorer open on login to the local intranet
It is already the home page of the browser, but apparently that is not enough.
Aside from the obvious reason of being horribly annoying.. has anyone actually had this on their computers at a workplace, school, or university?
Were there genuine complaints about how annoying it is?

So Supposedly the minecraft authentication servers are being DDOS'd by some guy who claims that people should "Stop playing with online lego and go outside" Which is kind of ironic given that he is obviously inside Anyways, you probably won't be able to play on our servers, or anyone elses for a while yet This reddit thread seems to have the most up to date information http://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/3e88ia/psa_all_servers_are_down/

I have turned on 'markers' today so you can put little icon's on your house, shop, giant sheep statue, etc which will show up on the map the way to make one is pretty simple, place a sign with the following: ------------------- [dynmap] icon:house MarkerName ------------------- Below are a list of icons you can choose from, just be sure not to put a space between the colon and the name And please put the MarkerName (Which can be whatever you want.. like 'Bobs House' or 'WoolMart') on the last line of the sign If you want to remove the marker, just destroy your sign.

We have set up a new 1.8 vanilla server EDIT: Updated to 1.10
skeleton.getsome.co.nz:27033
The old server will be stopped as it is becoming too difficult to maintain, however the maps will be made available for download on request.
If you have linked your minecraft username to your forum profile, you can build near spawn, use lava and fire, and use commands like /home and /back
If you build outside of the 500 block radius from spawn (which can be expanded as required) there is a potential for your work to be damaged by non-members.
Any comments, suggestions, questions, you know what to do!

To help prevent grief on our minecraft servers, some activities are restricted to Registered Minecraft PlayersIn order to do this, you need to be a member of the Get Some community (Registered on the forums) and logged in. Select your name from the cog menu to open your profileClick the change button in the 'Minecraft Username' sectionEnter your minecraft username, or e-mail, and password(Any Minecraft account created after 2012, or one that has been migrated from the old account format, logs in with its email address. A very old Minecraft account may still log in with its username. Use the same one as you would when launching minecraft) Once you click verify, if your Minecraft username and password are correct, you will instantly become a Registered Minecraft Player. If for some reason you purchase a new minecraft account, you can also use this process to change the minecraft account attached to your profile (note: this will erase all the permissions for your old account)

So, If I was looking to spend maybe $300, maybe stretching to $400 on a graphics card
To go into a Quad 3.6 with 16GB of ram
What should I get?
I would probably prefer to stick with Nvidia (I just like the intel/nvidia combination)
It would need to render facebook games, and my little pony, of course

We will be performing some maintenance on a couple of our servers this evening, this means that the servers listed below will be unavailable for potentially a couple of hours.. The most used one of those being the new TTT GMod Server
GetSome.co.nz | BattleRoyale #1 203.167.236.176:2302 GetSome.co.nz | BattleRoyale #2 203.167.236.176:4302 GetSome.co.nz | TTT GMOD 203.167.236.162:27025 GetSome.co.nz | Kerbal Space Program 203.167.236.162:27028 GetSome.co.nz | Starbound 203.167.236.176:21025
Provided Arseynimz is careful and doesn't accidentally some cables, everything else should remain fully operational, but in case you try to visit the forum, and can't, don't fret.. It will probably just be the power cord (well, both power cords), and it will be back soon enough..

Anyone got VoIP and a monitored alarm in this stone age country?
Moving to fibre and need to change my monitoring solution.. has anyone tackled this before?
The alarm company came today and tried to install an IP module, but it was the wrong voltage and won't work
Basically just looking to see if anyone has done away with the traditional landline before, and kept their alarm system running, and what it involved..
