I had to laugh at the one about excessive wealth. Does this mean they church will sell all their buildings or maybe open up the vatican to all the homeless in Europe? They could pick off all the gold in the alters and feed themselves. I wonder if they will abolish tithing
Uuh, no... he's agnostic, he doesn't believe in the Christian God and it's one of the reasons he divorced from his religious wife.

the simple fact is many, many scientists believe there is a good possibility of a Creator of somesuch that created the universe. My question is what knowledge does Philo-sofa have that all these scientists apparently don't have that makes him think it is very unlikely?
As has already been pointed out to you almost all atheists have a slight agnostic belief because as you/many have said it is all theory atm and only someone very close minded could totally poo poo a mystical creator.
I personally find it very remote, which is why I am more atheist, but I admit a VERY small possibility.
I would have to agree with that statement that playing violent video games could desensitize some people.
I have no problem with rating grand theft as 18+. I know there will be plenty of under 18 that would never have a problem distinguishing reality from make believe, but for the minority that can't society needs to put in some checks and balances
what i can understand is why do athiets have to prove christians wrong? if they believe theres nothing out there and when you die nothing happens couuldnt they just leave christians alone and let them live their life how they want. whats so important to them about how another person lives?
And one more
Finally in this age atheists can safely voice their views without fear of persecution. For me it is not about proving anyone wrong, if someone has faith in any religion (regardless of how much blood is on it's hands)then that is their choice. It has only been about 30 years in this country since you can openly question gods existence, long may it continue
I went to a catholic boys school in auckland and it was compulsory to take religious education. Funny thing is though the same teacher we had for Religious Ed was the same teacher we had for science
Science Class : "Man evolved from the Ape" Religious Education: "God Made man"
LOL confusing aye
That is classic, did anyone point out the obvious. 95% of noble prize winners that are scientists are atheists, makes you think
Fleastyler. I agree with you about our obsession for disposable commodities is a big worry, but I would hope that everyone contributing to this thread knows that killing your neighbour for their beemer is not on.
I haven't read all of this massive thread so forgive me if this has been said before.
As we are social creatures we have in our essence an understanding of how to behave in a group to ensure our survival. The 10 commandments therefore are completely unnecessary as we already know right from wrong.
Yes if you took away laws now there would be anarchy, but if they were never set out by the elite to control the peasants i believe we would have evolved in the general direction we have moved to now.
Of course because of over population people no longer care about their neighbours, so they can find another pack, which is why I believe NZ is getting more violent.
