I have a few games I'd love to pick up cheap.

GTA4.
Skyrim (+DLC).
DOOM 3 (BFG Edition).
Max Payne 3.
Saints Row the 3rd.
Anno 2070 Complete.

As well as a few indy titles.

I think i've reached the Steam Games singularity. The rate of game purchase is so high that i'll never be able to finish them all.

Use that to work out what you need to play next.. It's not 100% accurate (counts some DLC's as sepreate games, some mac versions as seperate games etc) but gives you an idea.

Anno 2070 Complete
Civ V complete
Maybe the Witcher 2 Complete
Generic AAA Console port that is only worth a tenner

I guess you need to make your profile public for that thing to work. I can't remember what grumkins I was scared of to keep mine private.

I'm hoping that Dishonored and XCOM go on sale during the Christmas sale. I'm not sure there's is much else I would get at the moment that I didn't get in the winter sale.

I didn't know what to expect from Dishonored which usually makes for an opportunity to be pleasantly surprised but I felt underwhelmed.

I hate vague "do this mission 17 different ways" styles of gameplay. I like a decent amount of narrative to quests not "go here and kill this person by stabbing her in the fanny, shoving a tactical nuke in her rectum or drowning her in man-jizz".

I was disappointed by dishonored, Feels unpolished, and that they were too scared of making it like assassins creed so they didn't do things they should have.

Have so many unfinished games that i'm screwed, I only just started assassin creed 2 that I bought during the easter sale then proceed to buy towns and chivalry last week that put an end to that game.

Still want to finish Skyrim too but have to start a new character due to a windows reinstall.

I want farcry 3, I loved 1 and 2 even for all their quirks, but doubt 3 will go on sale due to it being new and pre-release.

AC2 is worthwhile, assuming it hasnt aged badly.
Towns any good?

My backlog isn't tooo bad. It contains a lot of highly rated, in their time, games that I cbf playing.

In concept. But the UI is terrible.

I bought it because I wanted to try it out because it was based on dwarf fortress, however the interface is very unpolished, and the tutorials are not very good. However with a bit of work it could be a very good game.

Post by: oefox on November 22, 2012, 11:01:25 am
Towns is DF with a nicer UI, gfx, and slightly less convoluted mechanics, however, Towns is still in development so it's not yet fully polished.

In saying that, like DF, it can destroy time.

Oh dear, my Steam balance won't survive this!

Also in my opinion Towns is a great buy even though it's only a beta/alpha; if you've got a desire to build a little town complete with farms and mines and lots of crafting then Towns is a no-brainer. In addition it was Greenlighted onto Steam so it's already community approved.

I guess you're right, I just say that because it was one of only a handful of games I voted for and I was really pleased when I saw it get through.

It offers you slightly more impetus to buy a game than just something that randomly pops up with no metacritic or any word of mouth support.

Speaking of random games I just picked up "Intrusion 2" a side scrolling shooter that's kind of Metal Slug meets a highly detailed physics engine while you ride around on a giant wolf. Anyway it's actually really fun! Go watch the trailer anyway; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJZAzNKZBew

I decided against it after reading about a whole bunch of issues with the Steam distribution.
Bad port is bad and crashes lots of varying hardware apparently.
Also only 3 hours long, while that isn't so bad I'm also pretty broke and I don't really think it's worth the $7.50

It's pretty much what you see on the video when you visit it's steam page. A bit TF2 meets Minecraft. Multiplayer matches where there are four classes with different weapons and equipment and all can destroy or build on any part of the map. There are a few different game modes from what I've seen but I haven't really played that much because there are only US servers at the moment and I lag pretty bad. I've had one good round where I didn't have too much trouble and that was pretty fun, but I'd like to see local servers.

On a side note, I want to get XCOM but 33% off doesn't seem like a good deal next to the 50%, 66% and 75% off of everything else. I know it's a recent release, but still ...

It's pretty much what you see on the video when you visit it's steam page. A bit TF2 meets Minecraft. Multiplayer matches where there are four classes with different weapons and equipment and all can destroy or build on any part of the map. I heard that if you enjoy Spec-ops, it kinda makes you a psychopath :P

As much as I want to see this story everyone goes on about, I can't make myself due to the zzz 3rd person shooter gameplay.

Like the review by Yahtzee says, Spec-Ops is a bit different.

It is like playing Apocalypse Now, but you are Marlon Brando. Or something to that effect

Jurassic park is fun

I was skeptical going in, but it's not that bad. It's like an FPS, only instead of a gun blocking the lower section of your screen it's a torso.

I didn't say it was excellent, lol.
I played and enjoyed it, and didn't regret the purchase :P

The story is quite cool although it doesn't really play on the 'you make hard no win moral decisions' as much as the description says, it more just takes you along for it. Which is pretty much expected anyway to make the story work, so it doesn't really matter.

Heh, irony.
So now you can get The Witcher 2 for $7.50 USD, and the first one for $2.50.
Whole Witcher franchise for $10.

On the other hand GoG has a daily special of 7 indie adventure games for $20.
(Witcher 2 special in previous post still stands as it's not a daily deal if one still wanted those extra goodies)

Bought Choplifter HD (http://store.steampowered.com/app/202070/) a while back (jan!), only just now getting around to playing it.
It's actually really cool. I'd recommend it for the current 75% off (not a daily), it's good fun for $2.50 USD (I probably wouldn't recommend at what I paid for it a year ago, it's just an arcade filler game).
DLC choppers are currently 50c rather than a dollar too.
Zombie DLC levels are free!

Bought Far Cry 3 and played 10 hours yesterday, kind of feel like it's dumbed down a little from fc2, but the world is more open and not having outposts constantly respawning is good. The environment is not as destructable as the previous either, I really liked blowing away trees and other stuff in fc2.
Bought Rage since it was < $7.50, save that for a rainy autumn day
Deus Ex for $7.50 is a steal for anyone who hasn't got it already.

I fucking knew it looked familiar. It's a studio pickup/fuckup of a free game (which has the same name, so now has 'classic' appended to it).
Last free release 0.75, this one is 1.0 and has apparently had a few of the game mechanics stripped back and dumbed down.

No, pack deals on special do not allow you to gift games you already have.
