been mulling over getting one for years but have always bben;

too much of a sook
too poor

one of those factors have changed so im am thinking on it more, but really want to see if some of my ideas & thoughts translate into a badass tatt that could be listed as a distinguishing feature on police 10-7 when they find my undies outside someone's bedroom window in invercargill

What are you looking at getting done?

Best to find a artist that specialises in the area you are going for.

Example: I love the japanese style art so sought out a artist that was good at that style.

On a side note... It doesnt hurt that much really lol.

well for me a stumbling block has always been trying to find something that i care enough about to have done....

...and the thing i keep coming back to is an anzac/gallipoli themed piece, something that really speak to the origins of some of the other things i feel strongly about

i suppose it's resonably common, so i dont want something mega cheesy or too nationalistic...i dont think they were fighting so much for flag, king and country as much as they were fighting for the guy next to them

Sounds awesome man, if you are going to use people (faces etc) in the piece i would look for some one good at portraits, an would suggest maybe black an grey shadings for the colour with maybe some red wash to highlight certain features....(i have an awesome idea in my head regarding this lol )

Also depends on how large you want it to be.  Dont want to try an cram alot of detail into a small piece as it doesnt work well on skin.

there was a war memorial in otago that i always liked, was a haggard looking digger standing guard over a downed mate, would be nice if i had that with other sorts of kiwi's serving (pilots, merchant navy, 'nam artillery etc etc)....but yeah, i guess the biggest part of it would be finding someone good who "gets" what im after

one end of the scale a half sleeve would be cool.....at the other end a back piece

(no idea of costings or anything either)

Back piece would be a over 1k easy half sleeve would be the cheaper option but is all about the idea and how it will fit on your body.

To put it in perspective, My right arm has cost me around $800-1000 once i get the dragon coloured. Then im getting 5 cherry blossoms in the blank spots to represent my kids with some wind bars thrown around them in places to complete the full sleeve.

So when its completely done will be over $1200 easy.

Hope that helps.

i wouldn't mind dropping that much in stages, depends if i see something that really grabs me, might have to put boots to pavement and see if i can find some proof sketches from a few people

even a whole memorial done would be pretty ace i reckon....all ways liked the chch one's epicness

That would make an awesome sleeve man, i would again suggest black an grey shading for it.

Black an grey doesnt fade as much as say blue (blue being one of the worst for fading)

Maybe get the enscription done below the actual statue in a nice script (cant read it from that pic tho :( )

Quote
The two figures on each flank are male - the figure of youth and the stern image of valour. In the middle are two female figures, of justice and peace. At the bottom with arms outstretched is the maternal figure of sacrifice. Above them all is an angel, nude to the waist, about to break the sword of war.

the more i think about it, the more im liking it, I'm from (south) Canterbury originally, and it's imagery and overall anti-war feeling echoes my own thoughts,

and yeah smilin, i probably wouldn't mess with any colours at all, not needed

glad i brought this up, sometimes just getting some thoughts organised helps

Oh hell yer!

Thats everything in 1 monument right there. INK IT!

Well you have overcome the hardest part already..getting the idea/concept out there.

I think the symbolism of the statue/future tatt really suits your personality (from what i know having not met you in person).

The best thing about Finance Minister Bill English\'s latest Budget is that it does finally signal a much greater role for the private sector in the New Zealand economy. And another step along the way to extract this country from the political cul-de-sac in which Helen Clark\'s Labour Government parked us.

There ya are mate, they do some amazing stuff there, one of my good mates got a full back tattoo and his whole left arm done, looks great. The place is pretty much 5 mins up the road from real groovy, also serves as a tattoo/art meuseum and a place for gigs etc.
