ok new rig for me.

I do not need Hard drives, OS, KB, MOOSE or screens.

Not sure if going 2 x cards or going 1 x with better cpu, or more ram, I really just dont know! This is where I am so far, lets day $3500 is my budget firm, shipped to Chch. Dove is an option. I realistically wont be going 120hz in the forseeable future, but running ultra max everything at 2560x1400 would be sweet.

CORSAIR Obsidian 550D Mid-Tower Case is my favourite case at the moment very quiet with its sound insulation.

No need for X79 bacon if you just want a Quad with HT, try components below from CL then pick your fav flavor graphics card/s.

Recommend a 780ti in Evga colors :) swap the case out as-well to one of fancy

Socket 2011 is older tech than 1150 (but it still Intel's "flagship" workstation platform)

I also wouldn't bother with 2011 unless you have a real need for it (high core xeons, 64gb ram, etc)

What lisa said regarding X79 think the chipset had issues with pcie 3.0 or its difficult, Note the motherboard listed is M-Atx you can get cheaper full size ATX boards if you are happy with a larger case (might be required for all your prons storage drives)

Also AMD cpu's just don't cut the mustard anymore unless you are broke and wan't to play farmville....

Have a look at the Nanoxia cases:

Nev just picked one up, and it's really well built.

Other than that, always buy from CL. No questions there.

Mayhem's build is solid (but with ATX). I would throw a couple of R9 290's in Crossfire, it will eat up anything.

or the ASUS DCUII when it lands.

Yeah I just don't get the "small motherboard" thing.. I can understand an M-ATX or ITX build if your rich enough to have two systems and want a lighter one for lanning, but hell will freeze over before anything but a full size board is the basis for my primary computer.

Yea I got one of these for my media PC, and seriously considering buying another for my main rig, I have an old antec 1200 and that thing sounds like a space rocket whilst running. I predict a new build up and coming in the not so distant future, because I like new pc's
