Planes, Trains & Automobiles / Wot dafuq dis plane?
« on: March 15, 2014, 11:27:44 am »
Was going to continue in the model plane thread but though this sort of thing could use its own thread regarding plane spotting etc.

In Invers, just noticed a louder than normal take off noise and went out to investigate.
Didn't seem to be the run of the mill normal plane to come out of here as it didn't sound familiar.

ASY474 Royal Australian Air Force Airbus KC-30A (A330-203MRTT)

Being Air force tagged I am guessing it is Military but military supply/cargo or military personal carrier?
Any clues?

Creative Media / Mailchimp

just starting to use mailchimp for emailing a database but am having some issues, mainly with the alignment of text boxes (not being centred etc).
Anyone here a baws at this stuff?
Is there perhaps a better program? It seems pretty easy and elegant but this problem is really frustrating!

Planes, Trains & Automobiles / Hardwire a USB into wire harness
« on: August 27, 2013, 04:06:04 pm »
Hey team, I have a lap timer on my track bike that needs charged via Mini USB which is a pain to either remove the lap timer to charge or park it close enough to get a power source into it. What I wan't to do is hook it up to the bike so it is charging full time. Hence I need to find a cable that would allow such an operation.
I have considered sacrificing a general USB cable and soldering it into the loom, however I don't know which wires are power and earth (also lap timer is expensive and don't mind spending to get the correct gear to run it. Has anyone come across something like this? I had a quick google on the internet machine but could only come up with cigarette type chargers, which would work but I would rather have a more compact unit. that doesn't look like balls.

See Right hand item in the image for the type I am talking about.

Technology & Hardware / Tygon Tubing
« on: August 27, 2013, 08:54:16 am »
Anyone know where to get hold of this stuff in NZ, I am specifically after Tygon 2375 (or something with the same chemical resistant properties) with an ID of 5/16. Its not for cpu cooling but to be used as a clear brake fluid hose on a motorbike.
Any help or ideas would be most grateful.

Cheers

General Chat / Shameless request for donations....
« on: August 22, 2013, 06:21:48 pm »
Hey fuckers,

Here is a good cause, please donate.

Our workplace has entered to be part of the Southern Scooter Challenge.
What is the southern scooter challenge you say?

Well we will be riding 50cc scooters from Bluff to Queenstown to raise money to go towards the prostate cancer foundation
(much to the dismay of others on the road, "Yay 100 50cc scooters to pass" i hear you scream!)
It is about 220kms, we leave at 830am and arrive about 3pm, saddle sores and all.

Anyway, it should be a blast and as I say it is a good cause.

The page for the scooter challenge is here: http://www.southernchallenge.co.nz/

Our fundraising page is here: http://www.fundraiseonline.co.nz/JeremyHolmes/

Photos etc will follow.

So what are we predicting, is this a my penis is bigger than yours type scenario on a grand stage, or do you think Kim Jong Un has the cahounas to actually follow through with a threat.

This is genuinely a great chance for Matt and Trey to make a sequal.

Anyone getting amongst this? I have watched up to about ep 5 and it seems pretty solid so far.
Antony Starr (Van/Jethro from outrageous fortune) plays the lead and does a pretty dam good job at fitting into the role.
Thoughts?

General Chat / Man vs Food
« on: February 13, 2013, 05:03:48 am »
Any of you GetSome punks ever witness this show? I am over in old blighty ATM and have stumbled across this on channel Dave. It's my new fav show. Basically this overweight guy travels round America trying to beat resturaunt eating records. Most of the food is horribly deep fried and not suitable for consumption (delicious). I am just waiting for the episode where the host, Adam, dies of a spectacular heart attack while trying to down the last pound of lardy cheesy meaty goodness.
I recommend this show

Tell me about your biggest feeds or eating records. I am reasonably small guy (178cm, 74kgs) so I can't really bring any massive food challenges to pass however I enjoy hearing of others trials and tribulations, successes am failures.

TV, Movies & Music / The Walking Dead

This looks pretty good from what I have seen so far, that is a few reviews and an annoying trailer filmed with a handy cam (below). I love Zombie movies, but they end too quick sometimes. I love the idea of the Zombie series following a guy in his quest to find what happened. They can obviously add a new dimension to this as there is more time to build a plot, characters etc And reviews are pointing to alot of gore! (as in blood, not gay gore with the big trout)
Frank Darabont is at the helm (Shawshank, green mile) so it should be a pretty solid story and well thought out.

The first series airs in the US later this year, not sure if good old NZ will get it though. Series 2 is already in the pipeline.

Gigady.
