Slacklining, something to do between snorkelling and lying on the beach in the Cook Islands.

Battlefield / BF2 Warfare Wednesday Round 2: SLAMM vs INFERIUM

A few sila members play occasionally. Lyesalot, elemunk and myself were playing last night, had some great squad play going for a few maps.

The GameArena 64p All Maps server is full every night, best way to play BF2 imo.

I wouldn't think the easing of worry comes from continued exaggerations of our situation.

Its got nothing to do with putting our heads in the sand, we're all here, we feel them, we know they're not even worth getting out of bed for, but with articles like that the overall impression makes it worse than it is, and does nothing to ease peoples minds long-term. People might be put off coming back to Chch for example, due to thinking the ongoing aftershocks are much worse than they really are.

Well $#@!, it's better than the other doggerel they print, like Heston going for a run, or no need for the Warriors to panic. At least it's real and pertinent, not bull$#@! celebrity/sports 'information' to keep us sidetracked.

I believe nothing good comes from exaggerating the impact of our aftershocks. We need to increase confidence so people can move on with their lives, not continue shoving fear in their face.

I guess they are going to have to re-do all the roads in the CBD area also? Not that its as much of a big deal as re-building all the buildings.

I once applied for a job at Environment Canterbury which I was well qualified for.

After sending in my CV I got a phone call saying they were taking a bit longer to go through the CVs, and they were extending the deadline for a few extra days but that I had made it past the first stage and would be contacted again to come in for an interview. A week later and I hadn't heard back, and then I received an email saying "sorry but unfortunately your application was unsuccessful in this instance and you will not be required for an interview". I emailed them back asking what the story was, and didn't even get a reply. I was then glad I didn't get the job.

I have been quite lucky as since starting in IT 7 years ago I have always had a job, which makes applying for other jobs much less stressful. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be applying for jobs when you don't already have one and being unsuccessful. I don't look forward to that day.

Cheers.

Busted a nut to Countdown. From what I could see all other supermarkets are closed today.

Does anyone know what/if any supermarkets are open today?

maybe you should have a read of all the americans shouting from the rooftops (facebook) that this disaster was payback, or karma, for pearl harbour?

I'm sure the radiation would drift to the USA and only effect those you mentioned above, and harm no innocent human beings.

I remember looking through his collection of porn at xLAN via DC++

He had some nasty $#@!, including videos that were titled for people who belong in prison.

tmdude actually approached us about this.

To be fair, he could easily have just selected someones massive folder of porn at one stage and copied it all and acquired something he didn't intend on getting. I've done the same at xLAN before and found a few things I quickly deleted.

I wonder what chch's new population is with all the people fleeing. I doubt a lot will ever return for anything more than to grab their belongings and get back out again.

I don't think this is the case at all, of all my friends/family/extended friends circle etc. I don't know anyone who has left Chch permanently. Nearly everyone I know still has their job and house. Most that have left were due to lack of water/having children/wanting to get away from the aftershocks for a few days.
