Hi,

Oga is currently on the lookout for a skilled chopper pilot for our bf4 competitive team. We will be competing in cybergamer comps and only recruit now as they tend to start quickly after release.

We have a long history in bf games and have done ok in the past.

If keen check us out and apply on our forums.

Dont run the beta drivers if you have win 7

Roll back to Nvidia 320.something. Its a known issue with those drivers. I have 2500k and 580 and had major issues. Now a bit better.

Also, manually update punkbuster.

Alt tab and close battlelog when playing.

Technology & Hardware / monpepe upgrade v2.0
« on: September 11, 2013, 01:54:08 pm »
Hi,

Its time for me to upgrade my PC. I know nothing about computers so I post here for help. These are my thoughts.

Current setup:

64 gb SSD - Runs operatiing system and some stuff. PC boot time takes a while now though.
8 Gb Ram - DDR3
CPU - Intel 2500k
Mobo - Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3
GPU - Gigabyte SO 580
500GB HD - Games and stuff on here
Xonar sound Card
PSU - Corsair 750 w
Keyboard - 20 buck one
Mouse - Sensai
Headphones - need new ones

Current issues:

Boot time on PC is very slow now.
When I play BF3 some times the graphics go funny and get artifacts and flashing (not all the time).
Have to run my mic via mobo and heaphones via sound card
Headphones almost falling apart
Using a 20 dollar logitech keyboard that is almost dead.

Upgrade questions/help:

I want to upgrade my CPU but for one of the new ones, do I need a new Mobo? What would be the best bang for buck CPU and Mobo combo if so? (I dont want to OC) prefer intel.

GPU uprade I am leaning towards a 770. However, is there a major difference between 770 and 760? BF4 (played competitively) will be my primary game but will play others. Games tend to not be run on high to allow for max frames.

I believe my PSU is fine so will keep as well as my ram. Or is more ram needed now? DDR higher?

SSD upgarde to 120GD or higher? Maybe better stuff out there now?

Keyboard - Going mech and will prob get a ducky.

Headphones - AD 700's still seem good so will get them. Unless there is a better equiv out there now.

Is a new sound card needed or mobo fine. Note - use PC for music, movies and games only.

Anything else?

Suggestions on stuff would be helpful.

I use a Steelseries Sensai.

A few of the other oga players use it for BF3. Not too bad.

Just picked up this GTI6.

Driving it back from Wellington was the most fun I've had behind the wheel since my beloved R34.

I used to have one of those many years ago.

Was really fun to drive.

General Chat / Difference between managerial and grunts

What a load of crap.

Some people in top jobs do work hard and some don't. Some people in lower paid jobs work hard and some don't.

People also bitch and moan that they get paid little and work hard while their boss does little and get paid lots. In some cases their boss took the financial risk earlier and started the company themselves with the intent to let others do work for them and make them the money (that's business).

I also hate NZ'ers negative attitude to the Rich. In other countries its like "I need to work hard like him"- something to aspire to. In NZ its like "lucky bastard and a few more put downs".

What is that to do with anything man? You say that like its $#@!ing ok.

You say, "Only in the US". I say "Since when is there only mass killings in the US?"

Their age? So what man, people are people no matter how old they are.

Look man, this "Only in the US" $#@! has got to stop. Not having a go. Just since when the $#@! did people adopt this and even start saying it like it even means anything.

People can say what they want. Violence is not ok but in its part of the world it has been common place forever. Where we live, in a western democratic society, it is not that common (well mass shootings).

You just have too much sand in your vagina. Chill out.

Oh right. How naive of me.

Suicide bombings, civil war and genocide is quite different.

Only in the Middle East.

Oh wait...

Of course. However, they are not democratic western states like ours and violence in many parts there is common.

You are comparing apples with oranges.

Only in the US?

You ever heard of the Middle East? You know, that whole other half of the world?

Or does it not count because they don't speak English as a first language?

Of course I have lived there. Didn't see the many mass killings. Were a few terrorist incidents but mostly people fighting each other not killing kids in schools.

Intellectual Discussion / Israel/Palestine conflict
« on: November 19, 2012, 03:47:09 pm »
They are all as bad as each other in that region of the world. Israel does not help the cause when they cause mass collateral damage in their response which is not proportionate to what they received and seem to trying to make the situation worse atm. Election next year I assume.

"It's amazing how much coverage this gets in comparison to Syria. 5 days vs more than a year. 50 ISH casualties v 50,000 ISH."

Syria is terrible. Both sides are committing atrocities on one another (however the ruling regime is worse) and civilians who align with either side tend to be the direct victims  (not via collateral damage.)

CG are putting together a Planet Side 2 platoon (48 pers).

Game info:
http://www.cybergamer.com.au/forums/thread/438565/BF3-Community-Planetside-2-Thread/

We will be trying to put in a squad for the CG side and I was thinking about an all NZ squad of around 12-20 peeps (this allows for subs). I am currently checking with oga to see who is keen. Are there any other peeps who would want to play in it if there is space?

Would prefer people with BF experience and/or members from clans to make it easy from the start. Post here is keen. Sila? Ifinity? OT?

you can buy the iMUG though, which is bigger than the iCUP. That way you can get more coffee but its not as portable.
