Title: Ad-Blockers
Post by: Apostrophe Spacemonkey on October 06, 2015, 11:13:09 am
So Geekzone now have this full-screen pop-up ad will pops up when you have an ad-blocker, asking you to disable it.

Needless to say, I didn't disable my ad-blocker. I just disabled geekzone, wont be going there anymore.

I do have ad-blocker disabled on getsome, cause you guys are cool.

In related news.. what blocker are you using.

I've migrated to UBlock origin.. seems to be the best out there now. None of this "acceptable ads" bollocks, blocks everything like it should. Between that and EFF's Privacy Badger surfing the net is so much nicer.

Oh and IMHO Geekzone is worth subscribing too btw, its $25/year which is a moderately reasonable price, unlike GPForums at $50

Try Ublock origin.. one of my mates recommended it and I'm glad he did.. way lower memory/CPU usage than AdBlock Plus, and as mentioned no "acceptable ads"

Yeah, but I don't visit it enough for it to be worth it.

Also found this recently by 'accident'. Very good. More up to date danger lists too. eg. warns about sourceforge because they started being cunts and inserting bonsi buddies to project binaries. I wasn't even aware of this, glad I found out the easier way!

+1 to UBlock + Privacy Badger. Nothing gets through unless you want it to.

Privacy Badger stops all the Social Media tracking bullshit, such a bonus

Privacy Badger >> Noscript.

Used to use noscript years ago.

Can block more than social media, any domain etc.. if you wish, the social media thing is nice though, it overlays the buttons on pages n shit.

Yeah, but it's not just for the privacy shit.
Although I must say, lighter resource intensitivity might be nice.

Work fine for me.

But I only use it for Netflix.

But no plug-ins yet (like Adblock)
