I discovered this during some sort of bizarre inclination to relive my early student days. Probably due to a large lack of money.
Consequently this beer was purchased on the basis of high alcohol content, and can size. In retrospect, this was not worth it.
Still, it's one to cross off the "try a new one every time" list (pretty much the reason this thread started).

Pirate beer: Cool name, shit taste.

DO NOT WANT.

Homebrew Chinese rice beer tbh.
Can be some potent sh*t.
Better than shitty weak NZ beer anyday.

For mass produced Chinese beer, Tsingtao beer isn't too bad.

I recently tried Coopers sparkling ale.
It was a change from the taste of your average beer... it was crisp and clean to begin with... but it didn't have a nice taste after a few sips. I had to force myself to finish a bottle.

Do not recommend.

In the weekend I tried the Korean beer Hite.
This was a very nice beer. Went down well, crisp and clean, nice flavour... win.
Well worth the try!

A++, will drink again.

I also tried a "Russian Imperial Stout" named Nokablokkov (spelling might be a bit off) from a local micro brewery named The Twisted Hop.
Very nice. Very full flavour. Very good dark beer (some can be a bit watery, ya know? like Guinness...).
@ 8% it also kept me buzzing all through work that afternoon.

So you're telling me, when you pick up a bottle of beer, you look at the alcohol %, and if it isn't "potent" enough, you put it down?

Get the fuck out of this thread. It's a beer appreciation thread, not a "piss strained through a sock" thread.

New Zealand make some outstanding beers.

You implied that not me.
Alcohol adds to the taste.
It's just the 'common' ones like Tui taste like crap.

No, you implied it. You created the generalization that all NZ beer is shitty and weak then went onto correct yourself by saying you only mean common beers; only after i pulled you up for it.

Hi, the Adjudicator called and asked that to sort out this dispute you send each other a case of finest NZ Beer (Rii) and finest Chinese Rice Beer (CK) and then play a game of bottle.

I think he ment weak as in flavour, not as in alcohol content.
And in that sense he's right.
There are some shit beers here.
But there are some good ones too!

*edit* but then he went and said alcohol adds to the flavour... :disappoin
Now that's just not true (in the sense that flavour is directly related to alcohol content).

NZ Microbreweries stack up with the best in the world, shit, a lot of the time we ARE the best in the world.

Yeah, there are some piss-water mass produced stuff, but we do make some amazing drops as well.

It's a goody. Went out otp with Pyro and a mate and found ourselves at the Twisted Hop. The Russian Stout is excellent, flavourful and has a nice consistency.

Excellent microbrewery. Do recommend.

just been drinking my home brew dry cider (12%) and some cheeky home brew wheat beer (6%).

Cider was nice and crisp, very clean, dry. Next batch will aim for a slightly more sour (green apple) taste

Wheat beer, nice and cloudy with a nice aftertaste to chew on, a bit fizzy, next batch will have less fizz.

I accidentally on purpose got some low alcohol beer the other day.
It tasted like beer, but didn't make me drunk in the slightest. Not so surprising for 0.5 percent. However I was quite surprised to find it still made me pee like a racehorse...
So I dunno. Whatever.
Quite tasty in it's own right, but not all that flavourful when compared to a real beer.

Clausthaler, premium classic.

Hofbrau Munchen Dunkel
"Dark Munich Specialty. Brewed according to the German Purity Law."
Quite nice too.
Great flavour. Nice and Hoppy.
Not too sure if I'd call it a dark though...

Spoilered due to huge size. Not my photo, but the best one I could find of the bottle.
Spoiler :

Grolsch.
Premium Lager from Holland.
Very nice. Top range lager of excellent proportions.
Quite common though from what I understand, so I won't say much.
Cool bottles though :>

(again, it's fuck'n massive)
