:ugh: i wasnt born then..... :(

I fuckin loved the Mech Warrior games! I'm only 21, but close enough. Best games ever, will definitely try it out.
-
Oh wow...I am looking forward to this. :rnr:
-
this isn't the crysis mod using the crytek engine is it ? i've still got a copy of Mercs floating round and spent many an afternoon stomping round in the Pirate Moon expansion .
-
Too awesome.
Virtuality and I were recently talking how a new mech warrior would be great.
I am so getting this. I didn't really grow up with the series, but I managed to play a few of the later ones.
Massive robots with lots of guns are fucking cool.
-
Lovely!
I've still got my old Mech Warrior discs lying around somewhere. Was my first introduction to a 'LAN' with three of us playing against each other. Was sold on it and have never looked back (but I don't go to LANs cause smelly computer nerds are there) :asian:

Reading the interview on IGN its pointing towards the game being everything Mechwarrior fans wanted. They're fixing the "assault" problem, beefier graphics (even if it is brown'n'bloom UE3 crap). Mixing sim with arcade, to make it playable in both ways. The trailer there gives away a lot more detail than you would see at first glance, like how the weapons heat up to fire, and overheat, the audio messages are useful, etc. Looking very good.
Also, hula girl on the bottom right of the cockpit displays.
-
I love those games, and want this one when it comes out.
-
Oh hell yes :D
-
Looks promosing, but I would like to see more, especially some actual gameplay.
Judging by that explosion at the end, the Mechs are going to be carrying mini nukes :chuckle:

Yeah, the ejects all not that useful if you just end up parachuting into the resulting mini-nuclear explosion of your exploding Mech. Get a cool front row seat to your death though.

Yes
Stone Rhino/Behemoth ftw.. and Gauss/PPC's having ranges measured in MILES..
-
I liked jumping on heavy mech's heads with the light mechs. Good chance of a critical!
Standing in a water hexagon, firing your ppcs, and those mean autocannon 20's

Oh my goodness.. this is looking awesome ..I remember back in primary me and my mate used to walk around like mechs :D I was always Timberwolf! :D
and we would take screenshots and print them out (which would take for ever on the oldschool printers XD) even though they were pretty much just a single plane of ground/grass and a bunch of lights and a mech or two :P
good times :D
-
I remember timberwolf. lol!
so keen on this. Hope the interface of the mechs are top-notch and the game enjoyable
-
God damn I still have MW2 somewhere on disc and the manual :D .. has the badass picture of Timberwolf with like fire and shit behind him :D played that shit to the death

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MechWarrior_Online
MechWarrior Online (also known as MWO) is an upcoming free to play, action simulation game under development by Piranha Games for the Microsoft Windows platform. Development of the game is being led by Russ Bullock, president of Piranha Games, and is part of a licensing agreement with Smith & Tinker for the rights to create MechWarrior for the Microsoft Windows platform.
Plot
MechWarrior Online is a real-time game where one day in the real world is equal to one day in the game. January 1, 2012 is equal to January 1, 3049.[2] Players take the role of piloting BattleMechs, and can align themselves with one of the Great Houses, form their own Mercenary Corporation, or play as a lone wolf. Of note for this particular timeline in the MechWarrior universe is the impending arrival of the Clans upon the Inner Sphere Houses. It can be extrapolated that this may be the direction MechWarrior Online will head after launch of the basic game.

I gave it a go.
Was dissapoint.
Graphics are better then the previous mechwarrior (of course). But still less then expected of a modern game.
It looks all centered around online gameplay (as indicated by the online in the name) so no singleplayer gameplay, but I found the battles boring, just capture the point battles.
I'll take Mechwarrior 4 over it anyday.
-
Yeah, I think I'll stick to Hawken, despite it being an arcadey as hell version of the Mechwarrior of old.

Interesting. I had no idea about the copyrights of Mechwarrior

No Locust? :(

No, no locust. The orginal 16 mechs were never actually legally owned by the BattleTech guys, and lawsuits have stopped them from using it (it was actually from a Japanese cartoon called Duogram, Crusher Joe, and Macross.
However, there is a plan to add another mech called the Flea, which is nearly the same as a Locust.

I was having a look at a very old Penny Arcade review of Moonbase Commander from E3 2002 when I came across this:
http://www.penny-arcade.com/2002/6/10/
Mechwarrior 4 Co-Op: Blessed are the crafty. I guess I thought this project was designed to convert the maps that came with the original into a multiplayer friendly format, when in actuality they had to recreate each map, populate it with the correct bastards, and then write their own scripts to make it work right. My hat is off to them, which is no mean feat. I had to run to the store, actually get a hat, then take it off, etc.
The site and links are dead now. I had no idea there was a Mechwarrior 4 Co-Op.

Whats with you and bumping old old threads??

Every time he revives a thread, Morgan Freeman gets a freckle/mole.

Whats with you and bumping old old threads??
He's trying to get his post count up to 10,000, also, he likes necroing.
-
Did anyone else get the big email about the new patch they rolled out?
They are making quite a few changes, but the core mechanic is the same which falls in the uncanny valley of 'too arcadey, too complex, not complex enough'
Whats with you and bumping old old threads??
I do not understand what the problem is (http://www.getsome.co.nz/showthread.php?2361-Gmail-Invites)
