Wellington, just raining and windy. A couple of thunder claps earlier on today but nothing to major so far.

lol today I was filling my car up with petrol at pak'n'save (under shelter) and I saw this dude with a trolly going to his car, then all of a sudden it started pissing down with strong winds, the poor dude got drenched after filling his car with the groceries and taking the trolly back. All I could do was laugh, never seen a fat man move that fast.

Oh you're lucky Tiwa. I wish I lived down south :)
After five hours of wandering around I got 166 pictures of the South City and City Central. There was snow everywhere, snowmen (and snow women) and snow fights on every street. I havent sorted them all out, but I've got five of the best ones below.

There is even a video on youtube (the article on stuff.co.nz) where a guy puts a camera on his remote controlled helicopter showing all the snow everywhere.

Apparently it is going to snow again tonight so there will be even more snow around tomorrow. You may have noticed that I have been saying 'snow' a lot. That is because everywhere has snow. Stadium Southlands roof and Windsor New Worlds roof has collapsed due to the weight of the snow.

The snow movers didnt appear to be out in force. The inner city was just a muddy, snowy wet mess.

Also: Invercargill drivers are incredibly bad. I counted over 15 accidents when I was walking around South City and at least 5 people crashing into parked cars in City Central. However: It was hilarious watching people turn a normally straight forward parking lot into a permanent grid lock.

There was also one car with a snow man built on it. It drove past me before I could get a picture of it, which disappointed me greatly.

Yep. The roof collapsed and it set on fire.

Update: Invercargill is closed. Four major businesses have been closed due to heavy snowfall. All the supermarkets are closed. I work at the small Elles Road New World on a sunday and we had EVERYONE in town descend on the store because the other supermarkets (pak n save and countdown) were closed. The other new world, as previously mentioned, had its roof collapse due to snow and is closed for two weeks.

The fire department came to the store and deemed it unsafe. The police turned up and ordered everyone to leave both customers and employees. So I got off work early. People were still trying to get in the store while the police stood outside and forbade entry. Hell: People were trying to enter the car park even though there were road cones AND police cordon tape preventing entry.

This means I have have the rest of the day off. I'd go outside and play in the snow, but it is currently blowing a gale and hailing. Fingers crossed that this caries on to tomorrow, then I wont have to go to school!

This is my walk around on the Saturday after the huge snow storm.

Last night Invercargill had a big thunderstorm. According to my flatmate it started snowing at around 11:30pm and the roof started leaking, so he's been up all night with buckets. He's also cleared the snow from the roof. Apparently it built up enough to let the rain flow sideways.

There is snow everywhere outside, no where near as much as last year, but quite abit.

And: Do you know how cold it gets when you're making a snowman? Its ridiculous and not worth the effort.

"Better world" - LOL. I was actually just thinking about this the other day. As a general rule, the Left (and "greens" in particular) have a self-righteousness that goes well beyond rationality. They refuse to believe that what they are doing may actually be harming the world.

Their zeal is only matched by their arrogance - i for one don't need some fucked up, drug-addled, never got over their parents ignoramous tellng me how i should live my life, and worse, telling me that somehow i am wrong and they are right. I only have to look at their lives to know that nothing could be further from the truth.

Garage flooded... circuit breaker tripped, and a power board is obviously underwater. Garage won't open. No other points of entry.#FML

Queen street flooded with shit and I lol'd hard.

Yep, blame the Auckland council of the 80's & 90's that kept their rate increases lower by not properly investing in infrastructure, whether it was electricity (remember the 1998 black out of Auckland's CBD for weeks?), roads & rail/buses, and water/sewage.  Save a few % back then, for shit in the streets when it rains now.

People should keep that history in mind when complaining about the cost and impact of long term infrastructure projects like the inner city rail link & second harbour crossing.

Uncharacteristically sunny and warm weather.

15 more days until the apocalypse. Coincidence? I think not.

I live in Hobsonville and just got home.

No damage here, houses around me are all ok too.

Seems most of the wind/damaged areas is in the Hobsonville Point, Whenuapai, Greenhithe area.
