Title: Monolopy!
Post by: Apostrophe Spacemonkey on December 03, 2012, 03:51:47 pm
Who wants to play?

I won't be a player, i'll do the dice rolling and take care of the money. I'll use a random number generator to roll a dice, then i'll work out what square you land on etc

Also, New Zealand or English version?

I think I'll sit this one out. Monopoly and Risk are two games I hate with a passion.

Ghettopoly (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghettopoly) however...

Code: [Select]
Player Cash StartRoll
Pyro Car $1,500 9
Deanox Dog $1,500 5
Super Hat $1,500 11 9
Xeno Ship $1,500 11 11

Super and Xeno both rolled 11, they rolled again and Xeno gets to start.

Tiwaking goes to jail, and stays there the rest of the game.

The whole game of Monolopy can pretty much be played without user intervention. There's little reason not to buy a street wheen landing on it. The only real gameplay comes later in the game when a player has to decided when/where to build houses. It can make for long and boring games.

Risk however, I like, there is a lot more decision making involved.

I am tempted to write a Java based version of Monopoly, but instead of using a Street Map/Street Names: Use Thread Names ('Street Names') and Thread Posts('Houses/Hotels')

Instead of a Jail we could have 'The Cooler'. Instead of money we could use Reputation.

Instead of taxes we could use infractions which eat your Reputation.
One of the Chance cards could be Necromancy. One of the Community Chest cards could be Necromancy too!

What we need is a multiplayer online boardgame that we can set a time for and all play each other.

Not that I'll be there, I'll be doing something useful.

Oh! You need to learn how to perform the Gorn Anchor.
http://www.starfleetgames.com/federation/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=851

Its pretty easy. You run up to another ship and tractor beam them and then unload all your plasma torpedoes at once.

Because I play Romulans in Starfleet Command I run into the Gorn Anchor all the time. Romulan ships are the weakest and have low energy and even less energy thanks to having to use the Cloaking Device. This means all other ships move faster than they do an can run up and tractor beam them when they decloak.

The current game is Starfleet Command III and it is not very good. Starfleet Command II was just Starfleet Command with some more, less interesting ships.

I have started playing sfc3, like it more than the reiterated version of sword of the stars released on steam....what a pile of crap that game remains.   Funny tutorials in sfc3, Jean Luc says do this do this do this, then all help and objectives vanish...no log no nothing you are like erm what do I do again?  Game seems to consist of_>power to front shield, power up tractor beam, head on collision with target 1, nuke their shields and transport my peons across, release and repeat, while rotating and reinforcing crap that is shooting you in the ass.

I really hope star citizen delivers ;p

Monopoly is a game for people who don't want to live anymore. When I want to have fun with my friends around a table, we all whip our dicks out and take turns whacking each others todgers with hammers. It's the only thing that makes me feel alive.

TBH that game store seller annoys me, The girl just wants monopoly.

"I want to buy a cheap mp3 player"
"WHY NOT BUY A IPHONE? IPHONES ARE SO MUCH BETTER AND MORE ADVANCED"

Sure money might not come into this since monopoly is like 60$ at the warehouse, but monopoly aint even that bad, yo.

Monopoly is a game like rock paper sissors is a game. For that price you could get an actually good game that is only slightly harder to learn but significantly more satisfying to play. Oh, and one that has an end that doesn't involve the box getting shoved up an asshole.

Fair enough, but I kinda just see it as "Don't want monopoly, don't buy monopoly"

That girl WANTED monopoly and the guy just keeps going on about how shit it is and how she should buy other games.
