Anyone got VoIP and a monitored alarm in this stone age country?
Moving to fibre and need to change my monitoring solution.. has anyone tackled this before?
The alarm company came today and tried to install an IP module, but it was the wrong voltage and won't work
Basically just looking to see if anyone has done away with the traditional landline before, and kept their alarm system running, and what it involved..

going through this at work at the moment too, will let you know what happens.
-
Have you tried turning it on and off at the wall?

Why do you need VoIP?

Why do you need VoIP?
Because landlines are so 1870's

fibre replaces the copper cable so old fashioned phone wont be an option.. mobile reception sucks here
-
We have been installing them at work. Alarm company comes out does the install with a 3G (for fail over) and IP modules, then its just a case of making a firewall change to allow it to talk to whatever alarm monitoring the site decides to use.
Very straight forward.

We usually recommend either an IP module or GPRS, although it is very dependent on the type of alarm as to how much it will cost
-
Looks like its going to cost about $500 to have the IP module installed
-
Who is that installed by Craig?
-
ADT
we have a monitoring contract with them because our house got broken into a couple of years ago

I have VoIP and a monitored alarm.
My neighbours monitor it with their ears.
