I'll be watching this with great interest because:

a) Hilary Clinton may die of a stroke or something
b) Trump will make America great again

The way he rose to presidency is like Hitler did isn't it? His main campaign slogan is "Make America Great Again", that's not a right-wing phrase, that's nationalist. Much like how Hitler rallied the Germans by promising to "Make Germany Great Again". The USA is the Land of the Free, and it upholds that title to some respect, it also has the strongest military and economy. So the USA is already great, it's just that Trump is the living embodiment of the racism and hatred that his voters possessed, all wanting to change the system that they felt cheated by. So democracy FTW.

Aside from his Hitler-like campaign, his proposed policies are exclusive, inward-looking, and racist. Promising to ban muslims from entering the US, sending away and denying Syrian refugees seeking asylum, and a bunch of other ludicrous policies. He's divided the nation, sending the message that Americans haven't gone far from the days of the Jim Crow laws, which is to say... pretty depressing.

I know that most of them dislike Hillary because of her in-transparency and supposed corruption. I mean, so what? You get one or two scandals for Hillary, and you go berserk. If Trump says something equally or more worse than what Hillary did, no one bats an eye. What?!

Voting for who you feel is the best president or is the most funny, is why this buffoon was elected. Ugh. If only the voters thought of the implications of voting for either of them. And as was said, if you don't vote, you're effectively voting for Trump. That's why we all need a benevolent dictator! /s

His policies are hateful. They are also just plain stupid and unworkable.

Building a massive expensive wall on the border? Even though most illegal immigrants are in the country because they overstay their visa, not because the jumped the fence at the border.
Would be far more cheaper to just have some drones flying up and down the border which can spot anyone trying to cross.

He wants to raise tariffs on imports to bring more jobs (despite the fact unemployment is the lowest it's been in 8 years), crap jobs people in China already do for minimal pay, he wants to bring them back to US where no one will actually want to do them, except all the illegal immigrants, but they will get deported anyway.

Trump didn't get elected because he's a great person or the best candidate. He got elected for the same reasons that Brexit happened, that the Pirate Party did so well in Iceland, why Le Pen and the FN are doing so well in the Polls, why Winston will likely be the kingmaker if not the PM in NZ next year. Because the majority of people are fed up with the system, and will seize any candidate who offers a realistic chance at change.

Hillary Clinton was a career politician, a pathological liar, and provably corrupt. She embodied "the establishment" in this election. Trump, despite running as a Republican is not one of them, he's an outsider still disliked by vast swathes of the Republican machine. Sure, some of the people that voted for him are just like him, but a whole lot more voted for him as a voice for change. The fact he has "no political experience" was a positive to the majority of voters.

I don't like Donald Trump, I don't think he's going to be a great president, but I strongly believe he was the better of the two choices on offer.

Of the policies he's offered up, here's where I sit.

Abortion: I'm pro-choice, and Roe v Wade being overturned is probably the single biggest thing that's going to happen under Trump that I'm concerned about.

Immigration: Mass immigration from foreign cultures is a huge problem both in the west. You don't get to move to a country for a better life and then demand it adapts to you, you need to adapt to it. That means speaking English, wearing western clothing,  and fully integrating rather than being an enclave of your homeland. Cannot fault any of his policies here, NZ is lagging way behind the US and Australia when it comes to dealing with this. Obviously we can't build a wall, but our navy should be out helping the Aussies intercept boats, and like Australia we should be rounding up illegals, over-stayers, non native born criminals and people of bad character and putting them in interment camps before deporting them.

Guns: 100% support here, NZ needs to liberalize it's firearms laws, ditch the restrictions around MSSA's and pistols, introduce castle law and implicitly allow deadly force to be used in self defense, to prevent a crime, or when you fear for your safety. They also need to replace the "good character" guidelines around firearms ownership, it's WAY too grey area, because it's completely at the discretion of the police. It should be a case of if you are convicted of "XYZ" list of crimes, you are disqualified from owning a gun, just like a security guards license, rather than depending on what police officer you deal with and what mood they are in.

Foreign policy: Mixed bag for me, but on the whole he's going to be playing less "world police" which I like. Trump supports Israel, and is anti Iran which I don'y support, but he's also basically promised to bomb ISIL out of existence, even if it means turning the ISIL controlled parts of the world into radioactive glass, which I'm absolutely in favour of.

Gay Marriage: I'm in favour, and despite a crapload of liberal bleating he's basically said he doesn't mind it. Hell he just appointed an openly gay man to his transition team. Don't think its the issue some are making it out to be.

Trade: Anti FTA's, and has vowed to kill the TPPA, which in my humble opinion all by itself would make him the most worthy candidate. He could literally be the next Stalin or Pol Pot and ditching the TPPA would still make him a better person than Clinton.

Law & Order: Pretty happy with his policy here, hard on crime works for me, only real concern I have is that he might try and restart the failed war on drugs, when they just need to up and end prohibition.

Environment: Not looking good here at all, Whilst I don't think we should be going as far as the green types demand, we need to accept that climate change is real, it's man made, and look at way's we can reduce our impact on the planet where it doesn't place an undue burden on us.

Education: One of my biggest concerns about Trump, things like Intelligent Design and creationism will be back in the books, and a new generation of brainwashed biblethumpers will emerge.

Think that covers most of what I have an opinion on.

According to the media statistics the breakdown of negative to positive media coverage for Donald Trump from 2015 - 2021 was 13% Positive vs 87% Negative / Neutral (split roughly 50/50). Today? Its 87% negative. To put that into perspective: Every day there are 6 articles an hour about Donald Trump. So, out of the roughly 368000 articles over 7 years: 206000 were not negative with 47,000 being positive.

Fast forward to today over two years of media coverage: out of the 105000 articles: 92,0000 are negative. And I wont even start on the absolutely disgraceful "Donald Trump is Hitler" articles - the media outlets who said this should be sued out of existence. Never forget that the report on the Assassination attempt on Donald Trump was reported as "An event" and "Donald Trump experienced a loud noise" and "Fell over".

Abortion - Nobody cares. No one can afford food or housing. The Christian and Religious voting block are happy about the change but it is not going to make a dent in the fertility crisis. People cant afford food, they cant afford housing, they can barely afford to drive to work which pays them to continue to exist and nothing more. 12% of Americans are on food stamps. 35% of them spend everything they earn every week on basic living costs with nothing left for savings. Who is going to have kids in that kind of environment? Put a condom on.

Immigration - You want to be a sanctuary city? Fuck you pay for it yourself! No federal handouts to these crime ridden cesspits. Texas had enough of your liberal whiny shit and pumped your democrat strongholds full of invaders. Why is New York City spending billions of dollars on illegal aliens when it doesnt have a fully functioning police force or space for housing? Even the most bleeding heart hippie leftists are starting to complain, and worse the actually poverty stricken people in these areas are wondering why these dudes who just turned up yesterday are getting more support than the locals who are actual citizens and pay taxes.

Why is America paying companies in China and India to undercut products in America? Why is America subsidising its car industry to ship its manufacturing to Mexico? Why is Mexico and Canada allowed to flood America with fentanyl? Labour in NZ are threatening to pull out ANZUSUK? American Foreign Policy should be and always be - America Number 1 because Fuck Around and Find Out Why
