That is the Australian version of Nephila I was talking about in my picture with cicadas. Not sure of the exact species. Edulis is your common one, but that guy has distinctly black legs as opposed to the occasional stripe. Abdomen colouration a bit different too, one thing I have noticed with their colouration is it fades with age.

The small spider next to the large female is the male. He is a parasite within her web, one female may have several male parasites in her web. Size dimorphism (body difference within same sp) clearly visible in all species of nephila.

Common name: Golden Silk Orb Weaver.

Can you get a zoomed picture in of just a female? Spider will not leap out at you or anything and they are all over the place in Korea right now(will post a few when they grow a bit more)...no idea about Aus possibly not due to seasons if you are in non-tropical part.

The photo is shit, but i saw a cool as rainbow, from inside you could see the entire semi circle.

Nice, last time I went for a hit of golf, I saw a double rainbow, unfortunately I didn't have my camera, only my iPhone, and I was unable to capture any amount of either rainbow. =(

Cheers Rii, It's hard when your out there, reviewing the photo's on the camera isn't the best on the little screen so a lot of them are a little over exposed especially with white cars there is almost no detail in them Also I could have upped the shutter speed.

All in all though i'm happy with the few good shots I got and shooting in RAW at least lets me tweak them a little without substituting quality

Try a plate of milk with a few drops of food colouring. don't mix it up, then add a couple of drops ( no more) of detergent. Observe!
