I don't think so. All religions have morals and ethics for their followers. Even if a religion is false, at least it encourages the people to be good honest citizens. Imagine all the trouble we would have in the world if people thought they could do anything they wanted without having to feel guilty and without the fear of future punishment for their actions. Society would have descended into anarchy and we'd be lucky to even reach the dark ages. Those sort of people, the ones that are only "good" due to a fear of god, are the true "scum of the earth". At least godless, heathen sinners and criminals are honest about who they are. The "godless" people that are still "good" are the ones I truly respect.

clearly photoshopped (poorly)
that's a crane photoshopped onto the top of an unfinished aparetment building, with a rocket, marquee tool the lower parts, sample the flame colour.
take a photo of a war zone, zoom in and add your appartment crane rocket. Still just dripping sarcasm to re-re-re-re-enforce your "don't believe everything you read or are told" point I hope... The video that picture is from is all over the internet... hardly "photoshopped". I fear the next thing you'll be doing is quoting Zeitgeist or Loose Change.

I went to see if they'd sell me a beer at the pub yesterday afternoon, being open and all... They told me I had to buy a meal for them to be able to serve me alcohol on "Good Friday".
Fucking RIDICULOUS archaic laws.

ahahaha
are you serious?
that structure could be anything from military to civilian use, just cause you have "Chinese launch tower" above it doesn't mean it's a Chinese launch tower...and wtf? Chinese launch tower? they weren't even in fucking dune AND we're talking about North Korea here, you cant generalise their launch towers into 1 category, just cause they're both Asian countries doesn't mean their launch towers look the same.
unfortunately zarath when you took that photo you were pointing the camera straight into the sodding sun and now none of us can tell what the fuck it is.
seriously that photo looks almost as if it were trying to persuade tourists into coming to china "LOOK AT SUNSET, WE HAVE ROCKET LAUNCH PAD TOO!" either way it's not going to win a Pulitzer.
btw, I realise you didn't take the photo zarath that's part of my point.
http://www.sina.com/ is this a reliable news website? i cant even read what it says, so answer is no.
@crazy whitey, you stupid fuck, I don't "know" and that's the fucking point, were you deprived of oxygen as a child? Ok ok, I did get your point. But my point is you can't just blow off that sat image as being nothing either - I did say the " suspect looking tower", and there's no way you can say it isn't "suspect" looking in regard to the question of whether or not N.K. have such technology. The fact that pic of the other tower is in China is irrelevant. It's just a picture of a launch tower that is likely the closest representation of what one might look like if built by the North Koreans, due to the two countries being at a similar level infancy in regard to the technology (well, China have advanced signifiacantly recently, but the principal remains similar). That's not an unfounded assumption. As to it's authenticity and source - well, there's a shit load of pictures of it online, that's just one from a random Google image search. It's authenticity and clarity (which is perfectly fine for it's intent) are besides the point. Edit: after all that, I just realised you misinterpreted my post entirely. I was in no way suggesting that first pic was actually a pic of the suspect tower in N. Korea - It's a tower in China - I just posted it as a comparrison so people could more clearly see what I and others are seeing in the Google satellite image over N.K. That first pic is a Chinese Launch tower... in China. The satellite image over N. Korea does look suspiciously similar.

water treatment plant?
just cause it looks like a rocket silo from dune II doesn't mean it's a rocket silo.
it's google fuckin maps man...it seriously looks like a blur in a field of blur.
TOP SECRET MISSILE SOLO? It also happens to look VERY much like a rocket launch tower not olny in Dune II, but in real life: Chinese Launch Tower: Suspect tower in N.K. that looks to be the same thing. The huge shadow it casts is a dead give-away. It's not like the US use the shitty blurry images from Google either - They will know exactly what it is.

There is evidence that along with us and some apes, Dolphins and Elephants are self-aware. Anyone who doubts most higher level animals are self aware has either never owned a dog, or lacks the insight to observe it.

This thread has changed my opinion a good few times... Then it's all been worth it. Maybe after another 100 pages, you'll fully come around.

I think its just happening on a smaller scale now. For example a guy I know was playing rugby, he sprained his ankle and was limping around. A mate saw it and said hey man can I pray for it. He prayed for it and then put his hand on it and straight away it was healed, the guy could walk on it normally and there was no pain in it at all.
How do you explain that? Sorry, and no offence (well, maybe a little), but I call bullshit. Somewhere in the world, at the same time your mate hurt his ankle, a child was being raped. The kid was praying that she'd survive the ordeal, but the guy murdered her once he was done. I guess god was too busy watching the rugby.

So, this guy thinks it's a good idea to just put one person in jail (a punishment faaaaaaaaaaaar greater than the crime) just to make a point?
"Sending out a message" by grossly victimising one person, while all the rest get a slap on the wrist is so unfair it's not funny.
It's a brute force tactic that looks good on paper, but it's far from "right" in practice.

PC Pacific - Same as Computer Lounge except it got to my house in three days from Auckland. Sweet
Hah. They've long been regarded as bottom of the barrel. It's nice to hear someone saying something nice about them for a change. I think a lot of their bad rep simply comes from the fact that they're usually the lowest price on PriceSpy.co.nz, coupled with the old "you get what you pay for" adage.

I didn't say it was. But you can't say that science all backs itself. Science has been contradicting itself for years.
We skew stuff through our lenses of perception. This means that whilst reality is reality. Truth is truth etc, we still may never find it - science and religion both share the fact that they are interpreted via our senses which make them subjective. Sure science has tools of measurement, but the data still needs interpreting.
So, Cobra...what is 'The Science' that you speak of? The all knowing always right science? I didn't know it existed. Is it your invisible friend?
My understanding of science is that it acknowledges different theories and only calls fact what it has in fact proven. It sounds like you're trying to compare widely observed physical phenomena (aka 'science') with myth (aka 'Religion'), and saying they both have equal merit in the real world? lol? "Science" progresses, it's goal being the "how and why". "Religion" just gives up on parts of it's chosen myth when they become too ridiculous to believe, it's goal being a warm blanket for those who need answers to the questions practical observation has yet to answer, those afraid of death, and most of all, those that need social control.

IMO its because evolution has completely stopped in humans because the weakest link doesn't die out.
Without Medicine those people with serious genetic conditions at birth normally die before having children. Now because we save everyone we can, people with defective genes survive to pass on bad genes to thier children who inturn pass it on.
I would argue that we are devolving, and lifestyle doesn't effect our genes. Evolution is the process of an animal improving to suit its environment by passing on favourable genes while losing non-favourable traits through death. We are encourging non-favourable genes to continue to spread throughout the gene pool through the use of medicine, thus becoming a "weaker" species. This I completely agree with. Actually - it's more accurate to describe that particular process as 'natural selection', and the term evolution describes the development of something over time, as a whole; Ie. the development of the Earth over time, the development of species over time, the development of the solar system over time, and so forth. Just to be somewhat pedantic... Yeah, really just semantics. Natural selection being the driving force behind organic evolution. Oh well, that's life. If it's any constellation, there is still a whole raft of geneticists working on the Human Genome Project.. From what I understand they completed the mapping of the entire genome a few years ago and are now busily working on decoding and deconstructing it, identifying and attempting to eliminate certain mutations that result in genetically inherited deficiencies, or obtain data that can be utilized by medical professionals to better treat, or even cure a range of currently incurable diseases. (I wonder if they can find a cure to the common cold as well? )
That's just based on my limited knowledge on the subject, but it's pretty fascinating anyway. They are doing some amazing stuff.
It sounds great in theory, but one must also always keep in mind, that if there is one thing we should have learnt by now it is that messing around with nature can and indeed has had dire consequences.
Incidentally, have you seen a film called Gattaca? It's just a shame there's so many stupid people out there, mostly with fundamentalist religious beliefs. They lobby their arses off to try and stop things like stem cell research, when all they're doing is holding back progression, with no sensible reason. (spiritual beliefs are not a sensible reason for anything at all in the real world). Maybe they should work on isolating the "stupid" gene first, and see what can be done about that. Edit: Way to contradict myself in a single post, kinda.

I decided to put the decent mobo (GA-P35-DQ6) in the HTPC - mostly to take advantage of the DTS-Connect via S/PDIF (which works brilliantly). Also split up my HDD stack, and put half of them in here too. I really need to get a decent cooler for the thing, the CPU is pushing 60-70C under that crappy stock Intel sink. :/ Gave the main PC a good rebuild/clean too, which was well overdue (an 18 month un-maintained w/c loop is never a good thing) - I might get round to putting the case all back together one day  HTPC Main PC

Why? what is the point of life if not to seek the answer to the greatest question. Why are we here? It's been the biggest question on everyone's mind since the dawn of consciousness. We can discuss it all we like, but we all know we're never going to be able to actually answer it definitively.
